Chapter 37 Sweet Corn
Kier gets his gun, and his men let go of the two men; they aren't seeing them; they are blindfolded.
“Damn it! Let me the fuck go!”
The voice is very familiar.
Kier pointed the gun at the older man and shot him.
“What the fuck?!” The other man shouted in fear.
“I didn't have any fucking business to do with you; what you are doing is a kidnapping!” The older man said in fear.
Kier released another bullet at the older man; next, he shot the talkative man in the shoulder.
“What do you want, huh?! Money? I have a lot of money! You can have it! I will give you money- ahh!” Kier shoots him in his legs.
The talkative man sits on the floor, and his blood is already spreading.
“I can triple your boss's payment!”
Kier shoots the talkative man in the heart two times.
The talkative man didn't utter a word, and he vomited blood.
“What the fuck?! What the hell is that again!? Kier, can you fucking use a silencer ?! I am fucking sleeping!” Jase complained, and he peeked from the door.
“What the fucking fuck?!” Jase was shocked when his attention fell to the two men lying lifeless on the ground.
“Where the hell did they come from?!”
His men are now cleaning the mess he did; they even clean the whole place.
“Just go to sleep, Jase!” Nathan commanded him.
Jase didn't ask another question and closed the door.
“Lad, he is Mr. Vacardi, and Lacardi, the owner of the company CDF company where your wife is working; why did you kill her boos?” Nathan asked gently.
“Threaten these two women; her name is Lufita and her friends.” He instructed his men and gave them pictures.
“Copy, boss!” They got the picture and left the room.
“And the fuck! That was your chief of finance. Why did you kill him?” Nathan asks, frustrated.
Kier just shrugged. “If the thief didn't want to admit his wrongdoing, then might as well exhaust my officials. The head of the accounting department will be the next,” he said.
Nathan sighed.
“How about that man?” he pointed at his wife's boss.
“I get his company. This man’s company is mine now. Besides, he doesn't have anything to do in this world, so I ended his purpose,” Kier said coldly.
Ethan is silent at the back while getting ready for the injection.
“If Shielyn doesn't want to transfer, our company might as well get the company where she is working.”
Ethan abruptly stabbed the injection in Kier's neck.
Kier lost consciousness.
“I'm sorry, lad, if you keep on awake, you might do unreasonable things again,” Ethan taps his shoulder and sits him in the chair.
“Nathan, can you look at him? He needs to see his psychologist and push him to drink his meds; he is not taking his meds,” Ethan asked his twin.
Nathan nodded his head.

<Shielyn>
I am wide awake. I don't know when it is, but I know it's already afternoon. I don't want to get up; I don't have the energy. My heart is still aching.
Why?
My body is heavy.
I want to die; it feels like my life doesn't have any purpose. My life is a lost wheel. Nowhere to go, and I am lost.
I didn't sleep; who can't sleep in this kind of state?
I feel so weak and at a loss.
I couldn't open my eyes; they were aching, I had been crying for the whole night, and he didn't care. I also heard that he left the house at 3 am.
He makes my heart ache more.
I hate him for doing this to me.
I hear sounds downstairs. If a thief comes into this house, it's his problem and his karma.
I have no appetite.
I wiped my tears and went to the bathroom.
I am angry.
I want to eat.
I will look in the fridge to see if there's any ice cream. People say eat ice cream if you are brokenhearted.
I wash my face and go downstairs.
“In law, you are here too? I brought fruits for Shielyn,” I heard Mom’s Kier voice.
Is she here? What is she doing here? Maybe she knows about us.
“Ah, yeah, I just want to visit them; I just want to see if they are okay,” my mom is here too.
What are they doing here? Maybe this is the right time to tell them what's going on between the two of us.
Arranged marriages will never work. My friend is suitable for saying it. She is in an arranged marriage too, and they got separated. She and her husband found their soulmate and are now happy in their lives.
They once had a main lead in their story, and now they are happy in their own story.
It’s better to end this too. I don't see any purpose in this marriage.
“Selene, daughter, how are you, huh?” Kier’s mom approached me.
“You just woke up,” she kissed my cheeks.
“Did you brush your teeth?'' Ask me.
“Joke!” She kissed my cheeks too.
“Why didn't you go home yesterday? I will cook your favorite Liempo.”
“She just woke up; that's how pregnant she is. They are lazy and always sleeping,” Kier’s mom said happily.
Pregnant? Who is pregnant?
“Where is your husband? My son shouldn't leave if you are especially pregnant. He should have left and taken care of you and your baby.”
What is she saying? I don't understand. I am not pregnant.
“I brought you fruits; I bought all the fruits; I don't know what your favorite is,” she showed me the baskets of fruits, and they are a lot.
They sit me on the sofa.
I gasp.
“Oh, you are pregnant, Selene, daughter?” My mom looks shocked and tear-eyed.
“Yes, she is! They don't have plans to tell us this! If Layla didn't tell me until now, we don’t have any idea about it.!” Kier's mom said.
“We are going to be grandparents!” My mom said she was happy.
“Yes!” they cheered.
They both look happy.
“Layla told me yesterday, and I just went here because I prefer fruits and search for what fruits are the best for the pregnant woman.”
“Why didn't you tell me that you were pregnant, huh? That's why you are being emotional,” my mom said and fixed my hair.
“Let's buy clothes for the baby!”
“Yes! Yes! I hope it's a girl. It's so hard to raise a boy. They won't listen and do whatever they want,” Kier’s mom said.
“I want a baby boy since my daughter is my only child.”
“Then let's pray it's a twin, one boy and one girl,” they clap their hands.
I cringe.
I still don't understand what they are saying.
They look happy.
It's 6 pm, and they are still here. I don't know how to interrupt my two mothers and tell them the truth.
I am not pregnant! How can I be pregnant if we are both busy and tired from work?
Layla makes up stories again.
There's a part of them that I shouldn't make them sad and let them believe that I am carrying a child. I don't want to disappoint them.
Or should I pay someone to make me pregnant? I don't want to make them sad. It makes me feel guilty.
They are pleased, and their topic is all about babies.
"Selene, why are you crying?!" Kier's mom rushed to me when she saw me crying.
She and my mom are busy talking about the looks of the baby.
I am just here, sitting on the sofa and watching Peppa pig.
I wipe my cheeks. I didn't know that I was crying.
They rush beside me.
"Ay! You shouldn't watch a series like that! I don't want my grandchild to have big eyes,” my mom scolded me.
It's evening, and he is still not home.
Does he still have plans to go home?
Where is he?
I don't know what to reason anymore.
I cry in front of me.
"Heh! Heh! Don't cry, Selene," Kier's mom hushed me.
"Let me call my son! What is he coming home?! Didn't he know that you are pregnant?! I am going to scold that child!” Kir’s mom called his number.
"Mom, I am just here; why are you calling me?"
That voice.
Where has he been?! Could you tell me?
I was waiting for him.
"Son, what happened to you?!"
"This is nothing. By the way, what are you doing here, mom?" He asked gently.
I am still not looking at him.
Don't look at me.
Don't turn around, Selene.
"Why did you get home just now, huh?! You shouldn't leave your wife!" Kier's mom scolds him.
"Stop scolding me, and it's just fucking early mom,” Kier answered, annoyed.
"Okay, okay! You are old enough! You know what you are doing. Take care of your wife since you are here. Don't stress her out,” his mom warned her.
I turn around to look at him.
He is looking at me.
Our eyes met.
He loosens his tie, unbuttoning his grey polo sleeve.
He looks fine.
"Don't make her stressed, or the baby will be stressed too."
His eyes furrowed.
I looked away and played with my finger.
"What, baby?" Kier removed his coat.
He looks better than yesterday.
I look at his hand. His fist is wrapped in bandages, and there's a small cut on his lips.
"Ay!" Mom reacted frustrated.
"She is pregnant! How irresponsible you are!? I didn't raise you to be irresponsible!"
He raised his eyebrow, "Then congrats."
"What congrats?!" Mom pinched his ear, but he didn't react.
"What congrats?! She is pregnant with your baby! You are going to be a father!"
"We haven't consummated our marriage," Kier hung his coat on his left shoulder.
I am avoiding his stare.
He's making a sound on his knuckles, making me nervous.
He makes me nervous. It's like he is ready to punch someone hard in the face.
"What?!" Our parents reacted.
They look at me.
"I am n-not pregnant," I told them the truth.
"Selene!" My mother exclaimed.
"We have been here since afternoon; why didn't you tell it earlier?!" My mom is the one who scolds me.
I look away. I was shy to tell the truth and scared to make my mom sad.
I bit my lower lip
