Chapter 57
<Shielyn>
“Mommy!”
Kaxheus ran to me when he saw me.
“Mommy! Mommy!” He shouted and hugged me when he reached for me.
“Mommy, I miss you,”
I tightly hug him.
“Momma misses you too,” I said softly to him and kissed his head.
“Mommy!” Kaxheus called Vane and hugged her too.
Kaxheus is a sweet kid and calls everyone his mom and dad.
“Why did you visit me just now, huh? Vane asked.
“Dada was busy, and I was busy playing with my playmate! Don’t be sulky, mommy! I will kiss you!” Kaxheus said and giggled; he kissed my friend on her cheeks.
I am looking at the two.
“Because you kiss me, I have a gift for you! Lets’s go!” Vane pulled Kaxheus inside the kitchen.
Vane has an aesthetic coffee shop. Korean theme inspired.
“Surprise! Did you miss me, baby?!”
I saw Sean smiling at me widely.
Sean is wearing a fabulous outfit; a black hoodie, slacks, and white shoes. He is also wearing sunglasses.
“Why are you here?” I asked him
Vane wants to borrow Sean’s son. That’s why I ask him to bring Kaxheus.
“Why? You didn’t feel happy to see me.”
I sighed and didn’t mind Sean.
I know he will tease me. That’s why he is here.
When I’m borrowing his son, he will leave us and pick Kax in the said time. And why is it here? I didn’t invite him to come over.
“Did you miss me, babe?”
I glared at him.
“Stop teasing me.”
“Aww. are you on your period? Why looks grumpy? If you want me to coax you, tell me. No need to be mean.”
Sean puts his son's bags in the chair.
Kaxheus have his nanny. Sean can do everything he wants: work and go out.
He looks teenager, but Sean has a son without a mother. And besides, Kax is old, so he can leave his son.
I was shocked when Sean lifted my chin using his finger and looked directly into my eyes.
“Did you cry? You look sad. Who made you cry?” He asked while looking straight into my eyes.
I remove his hands from me and look at the plants. I’m avoiding his stares.
“We have been together since senior high, and there’s something between us. Why you’re hiding your pain-”
I slapped his shoulder when he mentioned that thing happened between us.
That was an accident.
I widened my eyes for him to get what I meant.
What happened in that hotel stay in that hotel?
Sean laughs.
“Okay, okay. You’re still shy about it. We can do it again so you wouldn’t be shy. I’m thinking about why I didn’t make you pregnant then. If I just come inside you-”
I slap him when he says something about it.
“Sean!”
He laughs.
Sometimes I want to tape his mouth.
“Go back to me.”
I look at Sean when he sounds serious.
“I want you to be the mom of my son. I know what’s happening in your marriage.”
What? Where does Sean know about it?
“Divorce your husband and come with me. My son Kaxheus knows you are his mom; my son needs a mommy.”
Why is he saying this to me? I haven’t gotten divorced.
I love Ken, and I’m thinking of leaving him. I couldn’t do it. I will be gone crazy.
“I am not the mother of your son. Where is his mother? I never heard that you were in a relationship.”
We parted ways when we reached college. Sean goes to another country to study there, and I also lost connection with him. We get back when he goes back to the Philippines.
Kaxheus was a baby back then when Sean went back, and he never told me anything about it. I respect his privacy. That’s why I didn’t ask anymore.
He is full of secrets in his life.
“Shen, I like you,”
Sean holds my hand, and he confuses me while looking into my eyes.
I know this time he is not teasing me. His eyes are sincere and tell the truth.
“Come with our son and me. I know your husband is richer than me; I promise to give you a comfortable life. Our son and I will be enough. We will live happily. Come with us to Switzerland.”
Why is Sean telling me this?
I can’t leave Ken and don’t know if he will let me go.
“Sean,” I remove his hands from me.
Ken might see us in this situation, and I know he will be mad; he doesn’t like when men talk to me or touch me. He is a damn possessive husband.
That man always gets mad.
I miss my husband so much.
What if I go with Sean Switzerland in, and the biological mother of Kaxheus shows up? I don’t know about Sean’s love life; he never opens up. And I never dare to ask.
“I can’t go with you. I’m married,”
“No pressure. I can wait till you get divorced,”
I bit my lower lip.
“I haven’t talked to Ken about what we should do. The truth is still fresh, and it hurts me. It’s not easy for both of us. I’m still in the process of accepting everything.”
I tried everything not to break down in front of him. I’m tired from crying, but my heart doesn’t. My tears keep on flowing.
I don’t want to cry anymore.
“I told you. No pressure and I can wait. I will wait for you. Shen, I like you.”
I didn’t answer and tried to avoid his gaze.
His confession makes me feel uncomfortable.
Why everyone around us wants me and Ken to separate? Aren’t they happy to see us together?
“Wah!”
“What’s that?” I asked and got up from my seat.
I heard a scream and thought the people outside this office were screaming.
Sean and I rushed outside and saw a man in a mask holding a gun. The customers are running to go out.
“Kaxheus, baby!” Sean rushed to his son when he saw him eating ice cream in the corner.
Why there’s a robber in the coffee shop? They might steal from the bank. Why is it a coffee shop?
I scream when someone grabs me and points his gun at my head.
“Frenny!” Vane called my name.
“Mommy!” Kaxheus screamed when he saw me.
“Fuck! Let her go. We will give you whatever you want!” Sean said while hiding Kaxheus in his back.
Kaxhues is now crying while calling me ‘mommy.’
“Try to come. I won’t think twice about pulling this trigger,” the other man in the black mask threatens Sean, who dares to come near us.
I swallowed.
“Please, let go of my friend. I’ll give you my profit, but please don’t hurt her,” Vane begs. Her hands are shaking because of fear.
I’m in danger, yet I’m thinking of Ken to come and save me from this rubbish that smells like a rat.
Tears flow in my tears.
I remember when Ken saved me at the mall when there was a bomb and at a birthday party when the drug lords were being arrested.
“Give everything to us, or else we will kill this friend of yours!”
“I’ll give my profit. Please release the”
“Release her. Name your price,” Sean looks calm.
“Get the money now!” The robber shouted, and his men followed him.
They are four and all black and cover their faces, only showing their eyes.
“We will give you money. Please make sure not to hurt,” Sean begs while his son is crying hard in his back.
“Shut that kid's mouth. You don’t want me to kill this woman in front of you. That kid is noisy!”
I tightly close my eyes.
Is this the end of me?
Vane gave the money to the robber, and Sean tried to get me.
The one who’s holding me pushes me to Sean.
“Fuck!” Sean shouted, and he hugged me.
And the next thing I knew, Sean got shot, and the robber ran.
I bring Sean to the hospital while Vane takes care of her shops.
“Let’s go home. Stops are worrying about me. I got shot only,” Sean assured me.
Kaxheus is sleeping on the sofa; he cries and worries about his father.
I’m not at ease.
“C’mon, stop worrying. I didn’t die. Let's go home so my son can rest,” he looks at his son.
I nodded my head.
I already paid the bill, and it’s already night.
“I’ll drive you home.”
