Chapter 56: Heartache and Kidnapping
After that incident, only Arius remained in my life in the form of light who kept my breathing continued. It's been weeks yet my heart has not emptied. Tears dried long but took away the shine in them, if it hadn’t Arius’s touch I would definitely have gone crazy.
Every night, he tried to make me sleep but the beautiful memories of them make me cry. I was the reason they ended up so brutally. My father used to bring me chocolate everyday from work until my mother's accident. I always longed to get his love but now I was sure, it's never in my fate to get one.
I used to call Patty from here, but she always insisted on asking when I was going to meet her. My heart aches for Theo, that man loved me ultimately, I was the reason for his life yet I was unable to love him back. Not only did I fail but also became the reason for his death.
What was their fault here to end up so brutally? It was because they were close to me, and I loved Arius, a mafia King of Italy but my bastard heart knew I couldn't blame him for my loss.
A warm hand roamed in my hair, I looked up. Arius was massaging my head. His darkened face again failed to hide his concern but a beautiful smile bloomed on his lips when I struggled to force a smile. I knew he was waiting for a long time to see a smile on my face but I wasn’t strong enough to bury that pain so conveniently.
He didn’t know what to say in this situation but he just hugged me, cubbled, peppered kisses all over not knowing the meaning of consoling. All this time, I felt he was pouring a life into my body to be with himself.
“Don’t worry, I am here.” I wrapped my hands around him, resting my aching head over his chest in search of my peace. Peace… a giggle left as I melted in the warmth of his arms.
“What are you thinking?” He sat on the sofa, pulling me over his lap. I looked up to see my green world and lay again over him.
“How weird it is. I find my peace in the arms of the most violent man walking over this earth.” He smirked, tightening his hold around me. I don’t want to imagine myself without him in this pain.
“Are you still not going to tell me who did that to them?” Again he answered me with his silence. He thinks not knowing about his business and mafia work will keep me safe, but I think he didn’t want me to scare away.
He refused to share details of who did that grave thing but promised to take revenge for me. He was working on the plan to kill that man, but struggling between me and his work. I forced him to concentrate on work, I don’t want to be the reason for his distraction. He already wasted a week, and refused to step a foot out of the bedroom.
“I still dream about them, Arius. No one deserved that.” He rubbed my shoulder as my mind again diverted to my dead family. I got a new family but they were special to me, closer to my heart.
He used to my occasional outbursts, but left me alone to suffer it. I hid myself more, but reality wasn’t the thing he could hide me from. I have to face the brutal truth bravely to be with him again, or I will destroy his life too.
“Let's go down.” I gulped down my tears gathering courage to walk out of my comfort zone. Arius rested his forehead over mine holding me securely in his arms. He became the life guard of my drawing emotions otherwise I would have lost for long before.
“You don’t have to.” He picked up my hand and kissed my knuckles a few times. I opened my eyes to see our wedding rings united with our hands, reminding he is my husband now.
“No, I need to.” He nodded and kissed his forehead. I never thought he would turn out to be the best husband in the world.
It was lunch time and everyone was quite surprised watching me at the dining table. His father didn’t react much, but he had a smile on his face. Alex, Nicole were concerned and Marc was jublienet as usual.
Everyone on the table was happy seeing me down with them. It's been a few weeks, I have seen them. Alex came a few times to calm me down, but suddenly losing important people in my life shook my core.
“How are you feeling now?” Alex asked, with her concerned eyes. I forced a smile and she nodded, flashing her uncontented happiness.
“Brother, it's been a long time since she went out in the open air, can we go shopping?” Her shining eyes and excited voice flooded at my departure from my room.
Arius keeps his posture straight and eats, saying nothing, making her frown. He is always this rucluenent to let me out of this house. He even gets insecure even if I spend a minute longer in the bathroom, he is a very possessive man.
“You can’t imprison her here all her life.” He turned to look at me, Marc’s harsh comment strilled him.
“OK.” He agreed and Alex cheered, making everyone laugh at her. She expresses her happiness by shopping tons of shit for everyone. Well, a mafia princess deserved to be spoiled though.
“I will get ready.” She ran into her room to get ready. You have to learn to smile again Elena, look at your new family, your husband who you love a lot. Learn to smile again for him, who waited weeks to see it.
I knew, forgetting them was an impossible task. Their sudden death left a huge scar over my heart but I remembered, it was the same heart on which I have carved his name on it. I will try to be happy for you Arius. I will try.
“Where are you going?” I asked as I saw Arius walking towards the car with me. I thought he would head to his office to finish some urgent work but he followed me out of the house.
“Do you think I will let you go alone?” I narrowed my eyes at his insecure behavior.
“No, it's girl shopping. You aren’t allowed.” Alex warned from behind. He rolled his eyes at her and jerked me over his chest. With a gasp, Alex sat in the car and without delay, he took my lips under his mercy.
His intoxicating taste landed me in heaven whipping the reality. It was a hungry kiss that left both of us breathless.
“Come sooner, I am already missing you.” I nodded and bit his lip before running away from him. I saw him looking through the window with a worried look.
“Thanks Alex, I really needed a breather, out of this house.” it felt suffocating in the hall while passing by.
“No need, I knew you needed it and beside some crowde may calm you down.” I nodded, pressing my lips tight. She is caring, and always knew what I needed. She even arranged their funeral, her act lifted a weight from my soul.
“Which city is this?” I asked with a chuckle, I never knew where I was. It's been almost a half year since he forced me here to live with him.
“It's Rome,” she laughed while we drove towards the city with heavy guarding.
Alex was talking constantly about here and there trying to divert my mind from my loss. The beautiful city came into my view within a few minutes and then a mall. She chose a mall, so there will be people around me. I was glad, her efforts were working.
I ignored the bickering of gurgs around me and forced my eyes to keep on beautiful clothings. Guard had a pile of clothes in his hands and was running behind her. She shoved a dress in my hand and asked me to try it and told Arius will love this dress.
I was uninterested in shopping but listened to her every word. She tried a lot to help me with my pain, she was my friend, important to me.
I walked inside the dressing room, and closed the door. I tried the dress, it was a high cut, very seductive dress. Now, I get why she said, Arius would like it. I got her approval and I changed back to my top and jeans and tried to open the door but it was quite tight.
I heard some fussing from behind. A white smoke entered the room from the bottom of the door. What's wrong? What's happening here? My blood drained at the view and I struggled to open the lock. I hit the door in panic as everything was fading silently. The air felt strangled, as I lost my balance before I landed on the floor. The face of Arius floating in my mind as darkness consumed me.
