14. So, I needed to break the rules

Vanessa point of view:

I was still shocked with the way Dominic spoke to me through the phone. Dominic has never spoken to me with that tone. I can't believe he did just because I threw that female girl out of the mansion. In actual sense, what I did is right. It's the duty of any high ranked official to make sure that no human stays longer than usual in the pack.

Standing at the center of the large living room, I said with my authoritative voice,

“Who among you mind-linked Dominic about what happened just now in his pack house!"

My voice was far from sounding mildly, it's laced with anger and I made sure they felt the intensity of my voice. How dare they tell Dominic about what happened. I know he will still find out but I don't want him to find out now.

They weren't speaking, they all had their eyes looking at the floor .

“I asked you a question!" My voice sounded more ferocious than before. It literally made them flinch but still no one was speaking. I can smell their fears but I can feel that none of them did what I'm accusing them of.

“I was the one that mind-linked him." That was Stephen's voice. That boy…. my guts actually told me that he was the one that mind-linked him. He's the only one that is so courageous to do something like that.

“Why did you mind-linked him?" I asked furiously.

“It is my job to do so. This is the blood moon pack. I'm a member of the pack. Alpha Dominic is the Alpha of blood moon pack so he's my Alpha and I should obey only his orders. If he comes back and doesn't see his special guest, he will specifically punish me so I need to tell him what you did to save my ass."

I clenched my fist at his words. Dominic's warriors are one of a kind, they are those people that don't fear to say what's on their mind.

Just as I was about speaking up, I heard the sound of cars and in less than a few seconds, Dominic dashed into the mansion; he looked infuriated.

Every head in the room, including Stephen's, was bowed as he walked in. Once he's close to me, everyone in the room disperses leaving only me and Dominic. I believe he told them to leave through the mind-link.

“Where's the girl?" His voice is so cold. I gulped down, Dominic has never shown me this cold side of him, it's new and I never knew this is how frightening this side of him is. But I know that no matter what, Dominic will never hurt me.

“Dominic, she's a human girl. Don't act as if you don't know the werewolves rules, why would you bring a human girl into the pack in the first place," I replied frantically.

“Vanessa, that doesn't give you the right to throw her out. This is my pack and I'm the only one to make a decision here. Of course I know the werewolves rules but that particular human girl caught my attention, I wanted her by my side so I needed to break the rules."

Caught his attention? He wants her by his side. Why do I feel that my presumptions which I never wanted to be true are turning out true.

“She caught your attention and you want her by your side, what does it mean?" I managed to find my voice before mumbling the question.

“She's a human, you only mess around with them. You never got so interested in them to bring them to the pack," I added.

“That it is." he ran his fingers through his silky hair and slump on the couch. It seems the anger in him has subsided and he has returned to the Dominic I know. Of course, I know that he will never stay angry with me for long. Dominic loves me, he cares for me and I know that. But for goodness sake, I don't want that type of love; I want more than that love, I want him to love me as his woman and not as a friend.

I didn't bother to sit beside him, my eagerness wouldn't let me. My heart is beating as different thoughts are wandering in my mind. I just hope that my presumptions are not right. I hope that the human girl means nothing to him, that she's just one of the sluts he messes around with. No matter how I want to think that way, my mind wouldn't let me because Dominic can never break the werewolves rules just to bring one of his sluts into his pack house.

He said that she caught his attention and he wants her by his side. My heart won't stop beating as it's registering to me that Dominic might have feelings for that human girl.

“I don't know why I'm so interested in this particular human girl. My heart has never beaten for any woman but it did with that girl. I'm confused, Vanessa, I don't know what exactly I feel towards her but all I know is that I want her by my side without caring about any other thing."

Those words stung in my heart as I gulped down, trying to blink back the tears that were threatening to fall out from my eyes. I know that Dominic is sincerely speaking to me as his best friend but he doesn't know how those words of his hurt deeply in my heart. Dominic loves her, he loves the human girl just that he's yet to understand his feelings.

“You just met her, Dominic. You don't need to believe whatever you are feeling in your heart, it might be lust. You don't do love so it's not possible for your heart to beat for any woman talkmore of a human girl I believe you recently met." Since he doesn't understand what he feels for that human girl, I'm trying my best to make him think that whatever he feels for the girl is nothing but lust.

After a few seconds of silence, he glanced at me before speaking up, “I don't think so Vanessa. It's not lust; nevertheless, I will have to find out what I feel for her."

I gulped down the big lump on my throat, I'm trying so hard not to break down in tears. I still managed to say one thing, hoping that he would listen.

“But you can't keep her in the pack house, if the council finds out they will…"

“You don't need to bother about the council, I will handle them myself. I will go bring her back. Don't repeat what you did today, you are my best friend, that's why I didn't punish you. You can be friends with her, she's a nice girl," he said. Stood up and walked away.

Immediately after he left, I didn't bother to hold back the tears. I let the hot tears slide down my cheeks. It's so painful. He wants me to be friends with someone that will probably be my enemy, so ludicrous! I wiped away my tears before walking out from the mansion.

Entering my car, I drove out from the mansion heading to my pack. When I arrived, I walked angrily towards my room. I quickly called my personal investigator and she didn't waste time coming to my room.

“Beta." She noticed the tears in my eyes which I'm trying to wipe away and stop myself from crying.

“I want you to find out everything about that human girl whom Dominic brought to his pack house," I said. Olivia already knew about the girl, when I received the information about the girl she was there with me.

“Did Alpha Dominic give any reason for bringing the girl to his pack house?" She asked. The tears threatened to fall off my eyes once again as I remembered Dominic's words but I held the tears back.

“He wants to keep the girl. He doesn't care about the werewolves rules or the council. Find out everything about that girl. Dominic said that he's going to bring that girl back to the pack house despite knowing that it's against the werewolves rules but I won't let that happen, I won't let that girl stay longer in Dominic's life even if he manages to bring her back to the pack."
