"I was sleeping" I replied. He looks at me. I gasp as he grabbed my chin. His eyes staring my face making me feel uncomfortable. Badly.
"I am sorry. I just have a bad temper" I nodded not wanting for him to touch me anymore I softly step back. "I really don't need to do this. But I want to show you that I am a good man. I have something for for" I look at his back as he walked into the living room.
His eyes glancing at me once and asking me to go near.
"What?" I asked. He took out a small box.
Almost immediately, as a reflex, I stepped back shaking my head when he opened it.
A ring. He titled his head stepping forward.
"No" I said and he started laughing, I shake my head looking away.
"Please, Don't do this," I said as he grabbed my hand. "Stop it -Ah!" I whimpered as he grabbed my hair pulling it. His face dangerously close to mine.
"You don't have a say in it Lilyan. None. Your parents have said yes on your behalf. And we will be married within a year"
I started crying as he chuckled pushing my tears and I push him back.
"YOU are a horrible man James!" I yelled pointing my finger at him. My eyes pouring down tears because I knew, I knew as soon as I was wed to him my life was over.
I was a dead soul. I had no, zero desire to even near him. My parents having complete knowledge of my accusations that I put over him when he harassed me, Them having complete knowledge of how much I hated him.
How could they! I loved them. They never had hurt so much in my entire life. I took in everything I got years ago. Their cult life behavior. Everything for me to be given in the hands of this man.
I ran out the front door with him running behind me and yelling my name I ran to my sister's house because even if she and her parents were evil, I was sure James wouldn't force himself on me in front of them, nor will they let a girl be taken advantage of like my parents.
He stopped running after me and I ran the steps and knocked numerous time over the door. I burst in and my cousin opened the door with her mother looking through the kitchen.
"What happened?" I sniffed shaking my head.
"Sorry, I saw a snake on the road I bolted" Shee laughed glancing outside and closing the door.
"Okayyyy. You are such a puss" I sniffed sitting on the couch and biting my lip.
"Why don't you wash your hands and help us make some dumplings dear." I nodded at her mother.
I was asked by many people why my face seemed so gloomy all day. The rehearsal dinner was anything but nice for me. James sat beside me all evening. His hand not leaving my leg, I felt like was a toy. For him to make use of. My parents are happy as ever because of the proposal.
I stare at the bouquet as we wait for the bride to get ready and all I could think of was Alex. I wanted to run. Run far away from my parents but I had no money. Nothing.
We walked out of the room and I flinch as James took my hand, bruised because he held it too tightly last night. He took my hand and coiled it around his fixing his tie as the doors opened and we walked down the aisle as bridesmaid and groomsmen.
"This will be us in less than a year, remember that" I feel my throat go extremely dry. My heart clenching in cold sadness.
I couldn't hear the ceremony anymore. I just wanted to run away. I stared at the groom. how he smiled. They looked so happy. Wasn't I allowed to be happy?
"Stop It Lilyan I will lock you up in your bedroom just like always if you don't stop begging me to me like this," My mother said and I yet again beg her to not give my hand to James. I took heavy breaths, my hands sweating as I see James walking at me, his eyes giving me a signal to run far away from him.
He grabbed my hand tight and I whimpered, "A dance My sweet?" My mother smiled pushing me towards him as he dragged me towards the floor.
"I said, I suggest you act properly. Once you become my wife, I wouldn't give you the time to talk back" I didn't say anything.
I only stared at nothing. I was tired, I wanted to just go sleep.
I walked straight to the bar counter asking for a drink when James came behind me taking my drink and asking for a nonalcoholic cocktail. I look at him once before taking it and looking at the married couple.
"Will you leave me alone for a minute? I need some space. Please" I said walking away, away from everyone else.
That night I asked my mother when we would leave the town. We were supposed to leave tomorrow, But my anxiety growing whether they would stay because James asked me to marry him. I was ready to run away tonight Until I saw my mother packing.
"What time are we leaving?" I asked. "I was thinking of leaving without you. Everyone will be having a great time" I clenched my fist.
"But I have no one to make dinner since we both have work. So you are coming with us. We will come back here after a month to see James's parents, And discuss your wedding "
"You really want me to marry him?" I asked softly. "Enough Lily, He is a great man, And you will carry him. Whatever accusation you put over him he would've made sure you never married again. But he loves you. No man would ever forgive a woman for putting him under such false actions"
I nodded. Just walked away.

I gulp the sixth shot of vodka, my throat now numb and body feeling unable to move. I was on the floor while my friends talked I stared at the wall, My mind going back and forth over the thought of lily.
She had left my message unread. She must've left that phone at her house.
It would be my fault if anything happened to her again.
I had to leave the town because Fredrick wanted me to. I couldn't deny his orders. He was the only man keeping my name safe from the local police.
I wondered if she would be back anytime soon.
My eyes closing as the last thought I got was me unable to hear anyone any longer.
