Chapter 26
She lost the grip she had on the dress and it slipped to the ground once again, leaving her half naked body to melt in his arms.
Was it just her or was it hot the way he roughly pulled her to his chest?
"Don't get lost." He snapped his fingers in her face and she jerked, blinking away the embarrassment as it hit her wave after wave.
"Lost where?" She managed to ask amidst the thoughts that were scattered in her head.
"My eyes." He whispered and she resisted the roll of her eyes by only shaking her head with light chuckles, escaping her lips. "Wait."
Logan rushed into the bathroom, giving Maris the chance to glance around and take in her environment. His room was painted in Royal blue and had a king size bed in the middle. Thick, heavy and black curtains mirrored his duvet that was neatly spread on his bed.
The sound of water splashing on the floor drew her attention back and she looked down at her body.
I should probably wear my dress and wait.
Her subconscious muttered and Logan objected immediately, "No! Don't do that just yet, I'll be-In fact I'm coming."
Maris bit down a smile and waited, head down and eyes glued to her feet.
Logan led her into the bathroom and the moment she stepped foot in it, she was in awe at how clean and huge it was. She first stepped feet on the cold chess like floors and shuddered, it was cold.
"Slip your feet in those." Logan pointed at some galazo slippers at the right, just beside the door way and she did as she was told.
Cool
Her subconscious muttered at how warm and soft the slippers felt. She wiggled her toes in them then caught Logan staring at her with a cheerful gaze.
"You like to play a lot." He smirked and she mirrored it, loving the dark paint that was used in the bathroom.
Maris' eyes traveled to the mirror and damn! She was looking pretty drained from all the stress. Her eyes were a bit sunken and her collar bones were starting to protrude.
"Don't worry, we'll fatten you up for the sacrifice." He joked after reading her thoughts and she smacked him at the back of his head.
He took her to the shower that was surrounded by some kind of glass walls and door. He slid it open and she stepped a foot inside, heart suddenly skipping a beat the moment she thought of the evil things they could do in the shower.
Warm water streamed down her body, wetting her red hair and making it sleep. Logan joined her after flinging his towel.
Her mouth was slightly open and her breathing intensified when she saw he was naked.
"Relax..." He drawled, turning her so she could back him. "I'm not going to rape you."
She gulped.
"Are you bathing with your underwear?" He questioned, his fingers trailing lines on her back and she shook her head, forcing another saliva down her throat. "Are you tongue tied or something?"
No, I'm just horny.
Her reasoning answered and Logan chuckled. Maris widened her eyes.
Did he hear that?
"Yes, I did and you're a horny child." He teased, poking at her back.
"No, I'm not." Maris objected as usual.
He leaned closer to her, his lips brushing her ear as he whispered, "Then stop dripping."
She felt sick in the gut, but in a good way the moment those words left his lips. She didn't follow his instructions. Her stomach clenched and she dripped more.
He unhooked her bra and slid the door open, throwing it out and leaving her in just her panties. She froze to the spot, just letting him scrub her body with a sponge.
**************
Maris woke up the next morning with a satisfying smile on his face, feeling like she could fight and over power the devil. She stretched her body and yawned, rolling so she could plaster her body on that of Logan.
Her smile disappeared when the bed was empty. A sigh of disappointment left her chest and she sat up.
She was clothed in a grey big shirt that screamed Logan. The scent, the size and everything made her feel like Logan was hugging her constantly.
Last night was a beautiful one. Much didn't happen. Except for the little foreplay they started in the bathroom. This sent butterflies flying up her throat and a warm feeling coursing through her veins.
She kicked the blankets off her and swung her feet so they made contact with the warm floor. Maris brushed her teeth and slipped on one of his check shorts before walking down the stairs.
The house was eerily quiet and she thought about a lot of things. What if the devil appeared to her since he was a demon?
Why did he have to send Dracula after me when he can just-
She shook her head, as if dispersing those thoughts away and hugged herself. She was a bit sad that Sanna had left without saying hi to her.
Maris made some eggs and used it to eat the half loaf of bread that was sitting on the counter. What was she to do with her life now?
Maybe you should go for a little walk.
A voice chipped in and she walked out of the house, forgetting she couldn't go in without Logan's print. The morning breeze caressed her skin and the sweet scent of flowers rode the air into her nostrils. What other life was better than the one she had now?
A life free from the devil and other creatures you thought were fictional.
The voice in her head said, but she ignored her, promising not to let anything mess with her mood.
Suddenly, she jammed a little girl whose hair was short and white. She seemed lost and scared as her big eye balls as black as the dead of the night darted from left to right.
"Hey," Maris said softly, squatting down to her level. "Are you lost?"
"Yes..." Her eyes glistened with tears as she beheld Maris' oval face.
"Do you remember where you came from?" Maris asked and the little girl in a brightly colored dress nodded, pointing to a little path. "Okay, I'll take you back."
Maris held the little hand of the girl and a frown creased her brows. For a little girl, her palm was rough and didn't feel like that of a child.
Maris shook the thoughts away and walked hand in hand with the child.
"What's your name, sweetie?" She questioned, tightening her grip around her when she had reached a place that possessed a little hole of water and pulled her up, carrying her over it with one hand.
She was pretty heavy and made Maris hold her breath.
"Cindy." She answered with flowery voice and Maris nodded, trying to start up a conversation with the child so as to make her feel at ease.
When they had reached a certain place that had bushes, the little girl pulled her tiny hand out of Maris' hold and took steps away from her.
"I have to pee." The little girl turned, facing Maris with dead eyes. "I found her!"
Maris frowned, blinking rapidly at the child who was yelling and pointing at her.
"Found who, sweetie?" Maris showed off some teeth.
"She wants to lure me and kill me, just like the sirens, just like they did to the king. I found her wandering around looking for preys!" She exclaimed with an even mature voice.
Maris couldn't say a word as her tongue was glued to the roof of her mouth. She fidgeted and rubbed her sweaty palms on Logan's shirt. Her heart was about to combust before she decided to talk to the girl.
"Calm down, I'm not here to harm you. I'm just taking you home." Maris raised her hands up in surrender, showing that she was weaponless.
"Guys, come out!" She screamed and shape shifted into a grown woman with black wavy hair.
Maris' heart jumped out of her throat and she staggered backwards.
People jumped out of the bushes, holding sticks and rakes with scary looks on their faces.
"Oh, no." She shook, regretting stepping out of the house. Stubbornness wouldn't be the death of her.
Her throat went dry and a lump sat comfortably in her throat.
