Behind the curtains
Aurora gulped. Never in her life did she hear Felix talking to her in this tone. So distant. And strangely so…calm. Well, Aurora knew it all too well that the calmer he is, the angrier he is. She wanted to reach his thoughts like she usually did but couldn’t. Tension filled the air as she felt chills coming to her neck, feeling goosebumps.
“Why?” He asked. “Why did you do that?” Those words came out of his mouth like a bullet, making it clear to her that he chose her. He chose to believe that lying bitch instead of her.
“Felix, listen to me-”
“I’m tired of understanding and listening to you always, Aurora. My goodness, can you let me rest? Now I see it clearly how I could never make you on the straight path.” He said. “You’re being too much. Too much that I could handle.”
She can’t help but feel angry but she could;t even raise her voice because of how broken her heart is. “I know I am being too much, a brat and a bitch. Call me all you want, but you just proved to me that if I’m in trouble, you’ll never side with me.”
“You won’t have my back as you did in the past. You came here wanting to know what happened yet you bark out insulting words to me, not even caring about listening to my side.” She spilled everything she wanted.

Felix just clenched his jaw, now silent as he processed her words.
Aurora breathed deeply, continuing, “But I’ll try to explain my side. Last week, your girlfriend came here to my hotel room, sitting in that very chair you are sitting in right now. She asked me about your favorites for your upcoming anniversary so I spilled your favorite foods and all. But then she taunted me about being Reagan’s ex and now, having you and making me jealous. So I fought back with words. I tried to give her a chance to leave but she hit me by the wall so I didn’t have a choice but to hit her back, and she fell on the floor with a bleeding nose and threatened me.”
Aurora said, “And I posted that picture in the app. That’s all that happened. Call me a villain. But what I hate the most is getting taunted and being abused. You know it too well Felix that I was raised to be patient but when things are out of hand, then I have to save myself.”
“So are you saying what my girlfriend said at the press conference was a lie?” he asked, still not believing it.
“Yes.” Aurora nodded. “You can choose who to believe. The woman you just met last year? Or me who has known you since we were babies?”
Felix sighed, confusion was all over his face as he faces palmed himself. “I just don’t know who to believe, Aurora. You can’t blame me for acting like this, it was you who was acting weird and bitter when she’s being nice to you yesterday… I checked the security cameras and saw her story matched more..”

She furrowed her eyebrows at that, “What? Felix no-”
Felix nodded, “Yes, Aurora. I double-checked it. You can take a look at it too.”
Aurora shook her head, “I can’t believe Vivienne even manipulated the cameras. Great.”
Felix stood up, looking at her disappointedly, “I’m not sure what Vivienne’s team will take, but I’m sure they are pressing charges for you right now. I’ll try to talk to her and-”
Aurora shook her head, “No, Felix, you done enough. I’ll deal with this alone.” She finally decided. Starting now, she’ll try to take Felix out of her life. She was a burden to him so she has to grown up and be independent in any trouble she makes.
“Are you sure?” He asked hesitantly and she nodded, serious in her decision.
“Of course. I'm an adult now, and it’s time for you not to understand and listen to me. You are free now.”
“And Aurora? I believe it’s not the right time to tell you this but…this is not the only reason why I came here.” He said, suddenly the atmosphere between them changing.

“Oh really? What is it?”
He gulped, drawing a heavy breath before announcing, “I’m engaged.”
It took a few moments for Aurora to process it. She tried to set aside what she’s been thinking and focus on what Felix was saying. “What? Can you repeat it again? I think I heard you wrong.”
Felix chuckled, “Yes, it was since last month when we were having our trip.”
How could he tell this after the incident she just told him? Doesn't Felix know Vivienne’s bad nature?
Turns out that sly fox was really something else. She was quick enough to propose to Felix, and she’s sure it was Vivienne who proposed.

“Are you really sure about this? I mean did Vivienne force you?” She asked and Felix shook his head.
“No. I said yes because I love her and we love each other. And I want to live with her for the rest of my life.”
Hearing those words, it felt like his mouth was a gun and his words were a bullet, dancing across his tongue. Felix was never sick in love like this, but he sounded so happy and content. And Aurora didn’t have a choice but to acknowledge this.
“Then are you really..happy with her?” She asked again one last time.
Felix smiled gently, “Yes. And I hope you could solve this issue betwen you too. I won’t interfere as you had requested, but I hope this will end well and you’ll be able to attend my wedding next year.”
She smiled at him, not even hiding the bitterness she was feeling. She couldn’t exactly say “I’m happy for you” or “Congratulations!” because she’s clearly not feeling that.

Felix left saying goodbye before walking towards the hallway and getting out of sight.
Aurora sighed, feeling her drained sucked out of her again. Nothing really good ever since that sly vixen came, and that same sly vixen is currently engaged to her best friend. How great.
She instantly dialed the phone number she had memorized and pressed the call. It took a few seconds for the person on the other line to answer and instantly said, “Hello, dad?”
“Yes sweetheart, you called? Is there something wrong?” Her father, Aiden’s calming voice replied, asking her.
She couldn’t help but sob, feeling how pathetic she is. “Yes. I want to come home, dad. Like right now.”
She could feel her dad smiling as he sighed in relief, “I have been waiting for you to say that my dear daughter. I’ll prepare a plane for you. Just pack your things first alright?”

“Alright.” She replied, ending the call. Things are messy now, she has to leave this toxic place and come to her home. She just couldn’t think of anywhere to go…disappearing now would be good though.
