Kill her
Grace’s POV
.
“My brother would have fallen in love with you again if he would have seen you in this dress.”, Allison commented, making me look in the mirror again. I didn’t know whether he would have fallen in love with me again or not but I was sure of one thing that he would have said ‘You look beautiful, sweetheart.’
Apparently, it was the custom that Luna should wear a white dress when introduced to the pack. I had no idea from where I would have arranged a white dress until Allison gave a white dress that belonged to Zayden’s mother or says her mother.
To be honest, it was her wedding gown but it was beautiful nonetheless. Just like the previous time, she did my makeup with light natural colors and tied my hair into an elegant messy bun. Only the difference was, I knew that no one was there to open my hair today.
“It’s time.”, Allison said and I nodded absently. “Do you know you’re the first luna in a long time to be human?”, she stated casually but I wish I could tell her that she was not at all helping me by sharing all these things. She was making me more nervous than I already was. I couldn’t fight the nerves from bubbling in my stomach. I wished Zayden was here. I didn’t have the courage to meet the entire pack as Zayden’s mate and Luna without him.
‘What if they don’t like me? What if they think that the pack will be weaker with human Luna? What if they want to replace me? No! No! No! I am thinking too much.’, I kept thinking unnecessary things until I heard Allison’s words.
“It’s not wise to show your emotions.”, She said.
“Sorry, I can’t help it. Everything seems incomplete without him.”
“I know. But the pack needs to know that Luna is here for them.”, She kept a reassuring hand on my shoulder and offered me a small smile. I tried to smile back but I think it was a forced one. The pack needed their Alpha just like I needed Zayden.
“Now, hurry up. We really shouldn’t get ready while meeting everyone.”, My eyes widened at her words and I took a few deep breaths. She gave me one more encouraging smile before opening the door for me.
‘You will do good. Just be confident. Zayden trusts you. Everything will be okay.’, I kept saying those words to be me again and again. With every step, my heartbeat increased a little faster and by the time the door opened to the ground floor, I felt like my heart would take flight. I could hear a lot of murmuring and whispering voices.
“What happened to the alpha?”
“Are the vampires going to attack again?”
“What are we going to do?”
Question after question was being raised by them for their answer. That's when Eric’s voice yelled for the silence.
“As the pack’s beta, I expect from you all to keep silent for a while. I know a lot of things you want to ask and a lot of things you want to confirm. That’s why, I have called up this meeting to inform you of what is going on.”, He said and I could see everyone was listening to him peacefully. “The Alpha was injured during the recent attack while protecting some of our warriors. But thankfully, he is doing well now!”, The pack erupted in gasps, and after a while they again started murmuring and whispering.
“SILENCE”, His voice boomed and instantly all the noise stopped.
“There is no need to panic. We might not have our Alpha for a while but still, we have our Luna here for us. Luna, can you please come out in the light in front of everyone?”, He asked.
I had never walked on the stage but trust me, the distance from the place where I was standing before till the place where Eric was standing, made me feel like a stage and I was doing a ramp walk. I just hoped not to trip.
My jaw dropped slightly at the number of eyes that were staring at me in confusion. Obviously, they would because most of them had never seen me before. Eric forwarded his hand for support and offered me a smile. All the wolves and humans kept staring at me, some with curiosity and some with their wide eyes. Everyone started whispering again but I couldn’t decipher what they were talking about for a while until I heard some conversations which were loud and clear.
“So, It’s true. She is really his mate now.”
“That is the Alpha’s mark.
“She smells like Alpha.”
“But she is a human.
“So what? Alpha always believed that everyone can change their fate on their own.”
I waited for a while for their reaction until I heard the loud cheer erupted from the audience. Those who were in their wolf form started howling while those who were in human form started congratulating me. Eric smiled happily at me and the pack. My eyes glided over all the faces. Every single one had a huge smile and they were clapping excitedly.
‘He might be a bad guy in the human world but it seems like he is a great alpha.’, I thought.
“SILENCE!”
“SILENCE EVERYONE!”, Eric yelled. He was desperately trying to gain the attention of the crowd by yelling and waving his arms around, but it was of no use.
Everyone’s eyes were on me.
“Luna, I don’t think they will listen to me. Please ask them to keep quiet.”, Eric said, making me shocked.
‘Why will they hear me? I mean they just came to know about me a moment before. And won’t it look rude if I start bossing around just after Eric announced me as their Luna?’, I thought but nodded. I should at least try.
“Can you please keep quiet?”, I requested in a low tone instead of ordering them, surprisingly I was taken back when there was a pin drop silence after a few moments. I guess all credit goes to werewolf hearing power.
“Thank you for coming out here today at such short notice. You may all go back to your lives while Luna gets back to her mate.”, Eric said to which I saw them nodding at him in an understanding way.
“I want to share something with everyone before you leave.”, A voice boomed out of nowhere and I turned around, following the direction of the voice. I saw Sarah standing there, glaring at me.
‘What does she want to share?’, I thought but didn’t say it out loud. I saw her approaching me like a model. I was sure there was plenty of space over there, still, she chose to hit me with her shoulder and stood right in front of me.
“Hello everyone, A few of you might know me and those are wondering who am I? Let me introduce myself, I am Sarah Collin, fated mate of your Alpha.”, Everyone started whispering again. “You might have heard what Beta Eric just said after your Alpha’s condition but he didn’t give you the complete details of his condition.”, I furrowed my eyebrow when she said this.
Why should anyone have to give details of bad news to our loved ones? To make them more worried?
“The doctor has found poison in Zayden’s body which is blocking his wolf from healing him sooner.”, She said and everyone gasped in shock. “And do you know who gave him that poison? Because it was given to him by one of his close ones. The one on him, he used to trust a lot.”
“Who is that backstabber?”
“We will kill him.”
“Tell us.”
A lot of angry voices started rising one by one. Even I wanted to know who gave poison to Zayden. That person should really get punished for betraying their own Alpha
“That person is none other than your Luna.”, She finally replied after creating suspense of two to three minutes.
“What? Me?”
“Yes, you. You baked a poisoned cake for him to take revenge on him.
“I...I..”
“Oh just shut up! Everyone there knew that you had baked two cakes out of which you made him eat the poisoned cake.”
Tears started welling in my eyes when she accused me of the things which I didn’t do and couldn’t have ever thought of doing. “You always hated him from the bottom of your heart. That’s why you took revenge in this way.”
I regressively shook my head. “No...that’s..that’s n.not true.”
“Sarah, you are speaking utter nonsense.”, Eric hissed and came in between me and Sarah because it looked like she would have jumped on me anytime sooner.
“Nonsense?”, She let out a dry laugh. “Really? You also know that the doctor said that someone had poisoned Zayden’s food because of which his wolf has been temporarily blocked. And she…”, she pointed her finger toward him. “And she has every reason to do so because Zayden had forcefully married her and kept her away from her so-called lover and her family is full of vampires who hate the existence of the werewolf community.”
I kept shading tears and shaking my head but no words came out of my mouth in my defense.
“So, better to kill her and end her chapter here.”
“Yes! Yes! Kill her.”, A heard a few voices.
