Chapter 12 - The Invitation
LUNA ASTERBELLE’s POV
My eyes widened in fear of what Jerome did to me back in the past which I no longer have memory of. The way he spoke seemed like he was able to experience considerably a lot of things together with me. “W-what are you trying to say?” I asked in such a soft voice. I saw how the scar on my palm was slowly fading away. Its pain was kind of bearable, but it still stings.
“The texture of your blood tells me that you’re not just a mere human and not just a mere werewolf. Could it be that the rumor during your debut was true — that you share the blood of a vampire?” Jerome replied while wiping off the excess blood on his lips.
“You… Why did you taste my blood? Don’t you know that it could seriously harm you, or worse, kill you?!” I chose to ignore his statement when I felt unsteady.
Just right on cue, I noticed how he almost fell to the ground of flesh. “I-I don’t need your pity, Luna Asterbelle.” Jerome rolled his eyes like a woman, which made me think that he’s really turning into a stranger with an unidentified personality.
Jerome kept on blowing through the wind and just like earlier, he was creating small flames that emitted a dark smoke. It only took him a few seconds before he was able to come up with a portal. “Now I’m confused if you’re just a werewolf or a part of you was someone who could manipulate magic,” I commented as I stood by to watch the swirling pattern of the oceanic hue of the portal.
He was the first one to step foot inside the portal until his entire body was no longer visible in this dimension. I moved forward on the spot where he was and took one last glance at the surroundings. The goddess no longer showed up until I was finally able to return to our country, Grimstone.
However, Jerome was no longer in sight.
“This man keeps on randomly popping up whenever he pleases.” I clicked my tongue as I remembered Eman who I got separated from because of the incident.
I couldn’t feel his presence around the area where I was teleported back to. He probably has no clue where I am now, but I’m sure that we would still stumble upon one another.
“Hmm? What’s that?” I mumbled to myself as I saw a piece of long envelope lying down the edge of the brick wall. My curious ass couldn’t stand still, I immediately rushed to where it was and picked it up. “It’s addressed to me…”
My lips parted when I read the content of the letter inside. My blood rushed up to my head at the same time that I ripped the paper to pieces.
Whoever the sender was really knows how to get on my nerves.
Even if it was out of my will, I instantly transformed into my vampiric appearance. My vision was entirely broad and clear despite the dim surroundings. I hastily headed over to the place where I was being summoned, no longer thinking twice whether it was a trap made for the purpose of killing me and taking possession of my blood.

As I flew above the clouds, I already managed to get a sight of a castle that was being crowded with what seemed to be vampires that were only showing half of their bodies. They were even laying upside down on the rooftop, while some of them were freely flying around the area.
“Who would dare to invite me here..?”
I was literally confused since I haven’t even had contact with anyone who had the same identity as I do, even though I was just a half-blooded one. I can’t imagine what the purebloods would do to me once they get to know that I’m a hybrid. That thought alone was enough to make me afraid of what’s about to happen.
“A-ahh!” I covered my ear the instant that I felt strong waves of vibrations that were being directed to me. It kept on ringing the insides of my brain as if it was about to take control over me. “S-sh*t…”
My wings seemed to be out of energy. It only took me a minute before I stepped foot on the ground involuntarily.
“You’re finally here, Miss Asterbelle.”
My eyes twitched just to get a clear look on whoever it was that spoke. A man who appeared to be the same age as me walked closer. He had an eyepatch on, while his left eye was red in color. He looked pale as if he was already running out of blood, but that’s just a confirmation that he was a vampire.
“The leader wasn’t mistaken that you would be able to receive my letter. I’m Jazpher, one of the keepers of the Dark Shadow Clan. I’m sure that you’ve heard of us already—”
“Cut the crap. What did you do to Yve?!” I yelled at him as I remembered the blood stains on the letter that came from him. It was definitely the blood of Yve. I can determine it from its scent and there’s no way that I’d be wrong with that since we’ve been best friends for years.
A smirk escaped from his lips. “Come on, Miss Asterbelle. We politely invited you to our premises, that’s not the kind of attitude that you should be showing right now if I were you… unless you want to witness the death of your dearest friend who abandoned you.”
I clenched my fists and tried to calm myself down. “What do you want?” I asked in between my silent sobs.
I fear that Yve would be placed in danger because of me. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if she would be traumatized or worse, annihilated by these filthy vampires.
“What else do you expect? We want the same thing that everyone else wants to get from you…” Jazpher answered before he ran towards my direction to point his sharp nail to my neck. “Ahh, your scent is worth dying for! What more if I’ll slash through your entire body? You’re making me lose my sanity,” he mumbled as he was sniffing my hair which he held in his other hand.
