Chapter 13 - Dark Side
LUNA ASTERBELLE’s POV
‘Save yourself, forget everyone else.’
A murmuring voice kept on echoing through the depths of my mind. It was faint, but I kind of recognized from whom the voice was coming from.
‘Jerome?’ I thought to myself, waiting for at least any type of response from him that would confirm that my inference was right. Although, a minute flew by and no one talked back to me.
“You’re coming with me whether you like it or not,” Jazpher said as he grasped on one of my forearms, aggressively pulling me together with him.
There were a lot of audiences that watched as I made an entrance to their castle. Not a single one among them were interested to actually know who I was, all of them just seemed to be anticipating my death and the very moment that they would be able to get hold of my blood. My body was turning cold from the low temperature of the room that he brought me in.
Jazpher decided to leave me behind as he threw me on the couch without saying anything else. A small drop of sweat fell down from my forehead as I was finally able to breathe freely. But, it was only for a while, since I heard a person from the same place that I was in.
A human who was struggling somewhere, to be precise.
“Yve?!” I yelled out her name with the hopes that it was her, with the basis that the voice came from a woman. “If you’re here, say something! I came here to save you after receiving a letter of invitation that I’d be able to find you here,” I added as I kept on roaming my eyes around the whole area.
At first, I had doubts that it’s Yve, not until I had this gut-feeling that she was nearby. I could smell the same scent that was left on the letter. “M-mhm…” A whispering voice was all it took for me to confirm that she was here as well.
While I was in the middle of searching for Yve, I suddenly recalled the line that he said earlier, that I must prioritize myself first. But, that has never been my personality. I would always be the type to be concerned about someone else before my own life.
“Yve, take cover, I’m gonna wreck havoc in this damn room.” It was a short warning, but I do hope that it reaches her.
I literally threw everything away that was in my reach and kicked all of the furniture that was in sight even though most of it seemed to hold a huge amount of value.
“What the f*ck are you doing, Miss Asterbelle?!” Jazpher barged inside the room to halt me from proceeding with the destruction of their belongings.
I hissed because of his appearance that was on perfect timing to ruin me. “Exactly as you can see, I would not hesitate to destroy anything if it would be the only solution left for me to save my best friend’s life!” I screamed as I successfully got away from his strenuous grasp on my wrists. “You brought me here with the fact that Yve was here, and you wouldn’t even let me see her?”
Jazpher sighed due to annoyance. “Just how impatient can you get?”
A random sound flared out as the entire castle was now filled with red beams of light that served as the only illumination aside from the moonlight. My heartbeat was thumping quick compared to how slow it was before. The alarm wasn’t making me scared, the fact that I lost the chance to save Yve was.
“If you’re going to kill me in the end, just do it now. Spare Yve and set her free. Don’t harm anyone else that I know,” I desperately begged him.
“NO ONE TOLD YOU THAT WE’RE HERE TO KILL YVE.” Jazpher had enough of my nonsense. He was pushed to his limits and was now panting to catch his breath as he had to calm down. “Yve was merely a bait to call you out here, but we had no intention to injure her, torture her, or whatever it was that you’re thinking,” he clarified.
My lips parted in realization that I’ve been acting crazy for nothing. “If that’s true, then why didn’t you just show up and invite me formally to this clan of yours? Was there a need for you to involve her?” I asked out of pure curiosity as I saw Yve walking out of the other door that was still inside the same room. “Y-Yve…” I mumbled her name when I noticed a slight glimpse of distress in her eyes.
It wasn’t the look of someone who wanted to be saved.
It was the look of someone who didn’t want to be saved; someone who would rather choose to disappear without notice.
Jazpher faced Yve with a soft laugh. “Your role here is done, pretty lady. You can go back from where you came from.”
Yve stomped one of her feet to show how she was enraged with his statement. “You promised me that you would give me Luna’s blood. That was the only reason why I trusted you, Jazpher, and came here voluntarily!” While she was speaking, she didn’t even blink while having eye contact with me.
I never assumed that it would turn out this way, that Yve would still be fed up with me.
“I’ll give it to you after you get lost,” he replied with a stern look. “Or would you rather prefer to have the tables turned?”
“E-eh?” Confusion and fear replaced Yve’s arrogance as she took several steps away from his spot.
When I caught how Jazpher immediately hid his smirk, I knew that he was already up to something, and I wasn’t mistaken.
He brought out a gun from the pocket of his pants. I didn’t even think that he would be bringing a weapon when he can feasibly kill with his outstanding power as a pureblood vampire. Jazpher pointed his gun directly to Yve’s face and pulled the trigger quickly.
“Stop!”
