Chapter 14 - Her Mate?
LUNA ASTERBELLE’s POV
A sight that I never wished to see occurred right in front of me: the death of my dearest friend whom I treasured since we were kids. Jazpher didn’t hesitate to shoot Yve on her forehead, its sound almost making me deaf, but the impact of her body slowly falling to the ground was more painful than what I perceived.
“Y-Yve… No… This can’t be real…” I muttered to myself with my lips continuously trembling.
“Oh, but this is reality, Miss Asterbelle. Your words provoked me to shoot your dear friend, that only means that you were the one who killed her… not me,” Jazpher said as if he didn’t care about the life that has been lost.
I lost balance and couldn’t find the will to stand back up on my feet any longer. The sole purpose of my visit here was meaningless. I came here to save Yve, but it only made the situation worse.
Does my presence really make those that I treasure be at risk?
“That’s more like it, Miss Asterbelle. Spread out your scent throughout this facility, and it wouldn’t be long enough before everyone else crawls up to you to get a sip from your neck,” Jazpher said with a playful grin on his face, which totally creeped me out. But that wasn’t even part of the problem anymore.
I didn’t care about what else would happen to me.
‘You’re still under the manifestation of a vampire, Luna. You can’t rush with your decisions, you might end up getting yourself killed as well,’ said by the same voice that kept on barging into my thoughts. ‘It would be best for you to have patience and wait for the arrival of another member of the Dark Shadow Clan. I’m certain that not everyone there has the same mindset as Jazpher.’
I frowned when I realized that he even knew the name of the vampire that I was conversing with since a while ago. It feels like he’s watching over me from afar or he literally can see through what I’m seeing and also hears what’s currently being stated.
It’s impossible that he’s my mate, right?
I mean, after all these years of enduring the pain of being unable to bring my wolf out, he can’t just show up as he pleases. I heaved out a loud sigh in an attempt to calm myself down. Whoever it was that warned me had a point, I would end up losing more than what I have if I act without a concrete plan.
“You’re no fun…” Jazpher toned down as he clicked his tongue in irritation as I stopped releasing my vampiric aura. It must have been devastating for him since he’s been waiting for me to let it all out for ages now. “Don’t you want to let your dear friend live in the same space as you do?” he asked, intriguing my curiosity.
“What do you mean?”
“Your friend still has another chance to live, if you would be considerate and wouldn’t waste a single second anymore,” he answered. “Your blood is the only answer. You must turn her into the same kind as you are while you still have the opportunity to do so, Miss Asterbelle. You don’t want this day to turn out as another regretful phase, do you?”
My lips parted when I heard that there was still a chance, but I was really hesitant to do so according to what Jazpher told me. I know just how much Yve despises the vampires. I don’t even know if she would be able to continue living on with her life with the fact that she’s been turned into a creature that she loathes.
She might not be able to forgive me and herself if ever I get selfish and turn her into a vampire.
“What are you thinking twice for? Didn’t you come all the way here to fetch your dear friend?”
‘Someone’s coming, Luna. Control your temper for a little longer, then the both of you would be safe and sound,’ mumbled by the same man in my head.
My heart skipped a beat everytime that I was called by him, as if I couldn’t wait for another minute to see him in person.
I casted away all of my doubts and decided to have faith in whoever it was that kept on talking to me. Besides, I wouldn’t be able to fight against Jazpher in this state. I am still lacking in a lot of aspects that I have to improve.
“Step down, Jazpher,” commanded by another living being that screamed out how great his authority was.
The instant that those three words echoed inside the room, Jazpher immediately knelt to the ground with both of his fists clenched beside his body. His eyes didn’t dare to look at the direction from where the man was stepping down. His vision was fixated to the same level of his head.
“I believe I only ordered you to invite Luna Asterbelle within our premises. Have I told you to take an innocent woman’s life while doing your mission?” asked by the mysterious person.
He wasn’t that distant from our current position, so I was able to get a glimpse of his appearance. He was taller than I was and his chestnut hair kept on flowing along with the wind. He was wearing a mask to cover his entire face, and only his eyes were visible. It was definitely black in color.
“Huh?” I murmured to myself when I noticed his resemblance with someone I have known for years.
My heart started to go crazy as I carried on with my observance of the newcomer, which is most probably another pureblood vampire which ranked higher than Jazpher, judging from how he reacted.
“Luna Asterbelle, you’re coming with me. Carry Yve on your shoulder or wherever. Follow me.” That’s the last sentence that I heard from the man who didn’t bother to introduce himself and just left me hanging.
Where am I supposed to go when he didn’t even give me a specific direction before popping off just like a bubble?
