Chapter 15 - A King's Interest
LUNA ASTERBELLE’s POV
The red carpet was smoother than my skin texture. All of the properties that surrounded me kept on shining with its brilliance. After a few minutes of that person’s disappearance, Jazpher literally changed the way that he approached me. He even led me to the rightful destination where I was tasked to go.
“Thanks,” I murmured, then bowed my head for a second to show a little bit of courtesy despite the cruelty of his actions. I have no authority to further lecture him as I’m an ordinary citizen only.
“My pleasure, Miss Asterbelle. Tell me if you need anything else,” Jazpher replied. His hand that formed a tight ball was placed on the side of his chest, which slightly made me flinch as I thought that I was being treated like some sort of princess back there. “Be extra cautious of your words. He’s not the same kind as us, but he’s seriously a formidable being. You must always obey each and every single command of his — King Dawn is someone that can take our whole life away in the blink of an eye.”
I didn’t get the chance to notice Jazpher’s aura for a while ago, but ever since King Dawn showed up, the severity of his anxiety never left his side judging from his aura alone.
“Luna Asterbelle, come here.” There was no interest or whatsoever in the voice of that man as he called for me from behind. As I was slowly stepping closer to his position, my breathing pattern became unstable more and more. “Bring Yve to the ground. I’m pretty sure that you can grasp the presence of soot a few meters away from where you are right now.”
My eyes widened in confusion on how he knew that I have the ability to see those black soot and someone’s aura. “Are you trespassing the contents of my mind? You kept on saying things that were supposed to be kept hidden as my thoughts, and you also communicated with me in that manner,” I inquired while I was carefully placing Yve’s body in the circle of mist.
The mist seemed to be absorbing the remnants of Yve. It was gradually glowing with a bright red color which made me terrified of what the outcome might be.
“Don’t you have faith in the leader of the Dark Shadow Clan?” a sudden question passed through my mind. I glanced at the man in front, but it doesn’t seem like he was the one who asked that one. And another thing, they didn’t have the same voice as this one and it had a deeper tone.
“What’s taking you so long? Didn’t you hear what I said?”
“H-huh? Sorry, what did you say?” I mumbled as I made sure that I would no longer space out.
I was so sure that the king didn’t move away from his spot, so…
How the heck is he standing directly in front of me right now?!
“If you want to save Yve, focus.” His words were sharp.
I was frozen to the ground and was only maintaining the strength I have left on my feet. “What should I do?”
Dawn smirked as he placed both of his hands inside his pocket while his eyes were glued to Yve’s face. I don’t have any idea what’s running in his mind as he stared closely at her. “I clearly told you to cut through your wrist open. Drop those thick blood of yours to her mouth. Make her swallow all of what’s going to gush out from your wound,” he explained.
I continuously blinked when I realized that he had the same method as what Jazpher told me. It seems like I really have no other choice but to turn Yve into a half-blooded vampire as well.
It’s the only way now.
“Is there a possibility that she would not turn into a vampire even if she would take some droplets of my blood?” I asked out of pure curiosity, slightly hoping that there would be cases like that.
He shook his head, which casted the littlest hope that I had left. “A normal person and a werewolf of any ranking would have their lives at risk once they consume your blood. You’re the only one existing who contains that type of blood, so it’s not unusual for them to get ill or in the worst case scenario, die,” he said, which reminded me of the way that Jerome recklessly tasted my blood from his nail. “And it would also be up to the person’s immunity if he or she would be capable of surviving the impact of your blood. Simply put, Yve’s survival rate is still between fifty and fifty,” he added.
I was still in the middle of arguing with my own thoughts, but it seems like my body has its own brain. My nails grew sharp as I hastily slashed my own wrist. It was undeniably painful, but I didn’t have to endure for too long. Considering how I didn’t want to waste my blood, I made sure that it was directed over to my friend’s lips as the king assisted me in opening her mouth.
“If it turns out that she’d be a goner, you’ll seriously pay for this,” I said with a furious look. “I don’t give a damn whether you’re reigning as the king of this whole clan. If Yve doesn’t return to her respective life, I won’t hesitate to make you drink my blood as well,” I continued, then followed up with a death glare.
I know that I’m not that intimidating, but I’m sure that the sincerity of my emotions reached him at some point.
“You’re quite interesting,” the king commented with a short laughter. “For my whole existence, I’ve never encountered anyone who was as tough as you are. But who knows…” He raised a brow before he continued to speak. “Maybe you’re merely putting up a brave front, wishing that someone would suddenly come and save your ass when you’re in trouble?”
