Chapter 19 - Trust Issues
LUNA ASTERBELLE's POV
The atmosphere suddenly changed right after I uttered my query. It doesn't seem to me like Eman has any plan to tell me about it, so I attempted to change the subject. "How did you end up here? Why would you bother saving someone as dangerous as me, knowing that a day would surely come sooner or later, wherein I'd be the reason for this world's destruction?" I asked.
Eman moved away, then stood up while holding both of my arms to assist me in rising as well.
"The appropriate time will come for me to explain everything that I know. I'll always be here to keep you safe from harm, so don't worry." Eman brushed off the strands of my hair that blocked my eyes. "Whether it's a fact, that you'd bring misfortune to this world, I don't give a f*ck. You're still the same woman that I adore. You're you, Luna."
An instant heat flared up to my cheeks which caused me to blush... or so I thought.
"L-Luna!" He yelled out my name even though he's standing in front of me already. "That bastard... I'll make him pay for this. The wolfsbane must have taken effect by now. Luna, hold still," he muttered.
I couldn't perceive all of the words that he said. It was a s if there's a bee that kept on interfering with my ears. My vision has gone blurry, and I anticipated for nothing else other than the possibility of my fragile body to betray me.

EMAN's POV
I didn't know the right course of action to take as I have no idea how I can cure a hybrid who wasn't internally injected with the wolfsbane. It's not like she has wounds which I can take advantage of with the use of fire. I heard that flames can somehow be effective in taking the poison out of anyone's body, although there's no conclusive and definite antidote to it yet.
I literally almost had no options left. "Damn, what am I even supposed to do?" I started to panic even though I recently told her that I'd be the one to save her countless times.
I let Luna's body lay flatly on the ground, as I repetitively walked back and forth. I can't leave her all by herself here, especially now that she's way too vulnerable.
My muscles twitched at the same moment that my bones cracked. No matter how many times that my wolf takes over my conscience, I still can't get used to the pain that it brings me. "Not now, please. Give me a little bit more of opportunities to process things thoroughly. I can handle this on my own," I said to my wolf.
"You do know that we possess the same mind, don't you? You can't even determine at least one percent of that woman's cure," he replied. "I'll make sure that she's alive after what I'd be doing to her. This might also be the first and last chance that you'll get to witness how risky this woman's blood is."
My wolf had full control of my body and the best that I could do was to observe what he'd do. I intentionally sharpened my nails as I bent one of my knees to reach Luna's arm. At first, I thought that I only needed to stay within her range to make her feel better, but that wasn't the case.
Soon after I grabbed her arm, I pulled it closer just to scratch her wrist, close to the area of her pulse.
"Stop! What do you think you are doing?!"
I was simply a bystander. My wolf sucked Luna's blood, which he spitted out through a tiny glass container. As I expected, her wound didn't heal at all. I observed Luna's blood that was gushing out of her wrist to notice how dark it was. I understand that she's different from me, so the only speculation is that I still have a relationship with the wolfsbane.
"If I was a second late, this might've killed her," my wolf spoke. "There were numerous species that traveled along the poison. It's crucial as its main target would always be the brain. It doesn't matter if the living creature is a human, a werewolf, or even a vampire."
I let a few minutes pass by with Luna's head resting on my lap. I tried to stop her bleeding with the use of my torn shirt, which made me topless. The longer that I stared at her, the more that I realized and acknowledged this unusual feeling that I have for her. She looks angelic no matter what she's doing, and that's one of the things which I won't ever get tired of telling her.
I couldn't care less if she'd end up rejecting me. It's not important to me as I only want to show her the sincere love that I've stored only for her.
"Luna... Wake up, I don't know what I'd do to that bastard if something worse than this ends up happening to you." I sighed. "I still have to figure out how my emotions are unsteady whenever I sense that you're in danger. I have so many plans that I want to achieve with you beside me. Even if we're not meant to be in the end, I do hope that you'd at least know that Eman loves you," I uttered, totally getting carried by a sudden burst of emotion.
I tucked her hair to the back of her ears, and that's the moment when I realized that she was already awake.
"L-Luna! Are you okay now?" I asked, not bothering to move her away from me.
Her face turned red from being pale despite not giving me a response.
"O-oi, Luna, are you okay? Your face is heating up."
Before I could've touched her forehead to check her temperature, she had already risen up. "W-why are you naked?" Luna asked as she looked in the opposite direction. "O-ouch... The heck is this?" she mumbled to herself as she finally saw her open wound.
I silently chuckled as I knew how conscious she was of my naked body, enough to make her flustered.
I thoroughly explained to her the full details of what she went through. She might've forgotten about it since she just regained her consciousness.
"Are you trying to say that... the blood that you're holding is m-mine?" Luna stuttered, completely dazed by what occurred.
I nodded my head once. "Y-yes, but ---"
"So I guess, the stranger wasn't mistaken when he said that everyone was only after my blood, huh?"
That surely wasn't a question made for me to answer. Luna's way of talking definitely expresses how she just lost the remaining trust that she had for me. She's most probably thinking how much of a manipulator I was, that I got to deceive her with my words.
"Luna, wait. Please don't jump into conclusions and let me explain, okay?"
She gave me a death glare. "No, Eman. There's nothing left that you still have to explain to me. It's very clear how you purposely came here, then let that man give me the wolfsbane, since you expected that I'd end up defenseless and prone to attacks." Luna wasn't giving me any chance to speak as she had entirely shut me off.
And the next thing that I knew, she was already out of my sight. Just like that, she vanished without giving me a simple gesture of appreciation that I actually saved her life.
I clenched my right fist which was gripping onto the container. "Look at what you've done," I furiously said to myself. "I should've handled things on my own."
There were countless regrets that flashed inside my mind. And having the possibility that Luna and I would no longer spend our days together like before...
Breaks my heart and tears my soul apart.
