Chapter 20 - He's Alive
LUNA ASTERBELLE's POV
I believe that about a month has passed by ever since the last time that I saw Eman. He never got in contact with me, and I could no longer sense the littlest bit of aura that he emits no matter where I go. As I realized how I was wasting my time waiting for someone who wouldn't even return, I suddenly thought of an idea.
I bit my lip as I knew how risky this plan was, but Eman was leaving me with no other choice than to intentionally put myself in the verge of danger.
Eman swore that he'd come to save me everytime that I'm about to get harmed, right?
That thought alone was the sole reason left for me to trust him. Once he doesn't show up, then... I guess, I have to totally abandon my faith in him.
I roamed around the dim areas of Grimstone, making sure that I wouldn't end up in the territories of the Blood Moon Pack. I am not ready to face the Asterbelles yet.
"Exactly how would I purposely endanger myself?"
"Aren't you the daughter of Mr. Asterbelle?"
I shivered when I heard someone speak from behind. All along, I thought that I was alone.
"Y-yes, I guess? Why'd you ask?" I replied, then turned around to face whoever it was. "Huh?" There wasn't anyone in sight, which kind of creeped me out.
"Are you sure that you're their daughter? I don't see any resemblance from the three of you, considering the fact that you're a hybrid," he inquired, supposing the speaker was a guy.
"Who are you? Where are you hiding yourself?" I asked, ignoring his query. "I don't think that I have the obligation to answer you," I added.
The skies turned red while the clouds were black.
"I'm from the Blood Moon Pack, so I know how you've been thrown away by the alpha. Why do you still pretend that you still have a relationship with them? Don't you know the basic rule? That once you've been casted out, you should no longer consider yourself one with the pack." He sounded pissed off, and still, I can't even get a glimpse of him. "Whether you're an actual daughter or just adopted, you shouldn't forget that you're nothing more than a rogue, and a half-blooded vampire," he continued.
I chose to stay silent so that he would run out of patience, to the point that he'd be forced to show himself.
Moments later on, I wasn't betrayed by my own plan. A man who wore formal attire, together with a large coat appeared. He hid both of his hands inside his side pockets while moving closer to me.
"I-it can't be..." I whispered to myself, refusing to believe who was in front of me. Even though his aura was giving me a professional vibe, there were still hints of his misery. "You... You were alive the whole time?" I asked.
There wasn't anything special with his facial expression. He stared at me blankly as if we didn't used to be friends and classmates. "I don't know if you're trying to play mind games with me, but I must apologize for I won't easily be tricked by your kindred," Joseph answered with such a cold tone.
"Don't you have any idea how devastated your girlfriend, Andrea, was after she witnessed your death> Did you lose your mind after being feasted over by some werewolf back in that cafeteria? Don't you feel any sort of guilt that you had to leave us like that, and just show yourself now after all of the misfortunes that occurred one after another?" I threw out consecutive questions at him.
Joseph seemed uninterested with what I'm saying. "You're mistaking me for someone else, hybrid. I only came here since I was told to search for you. The alpha and luna of your former pack are worried sick about you, and considering the role of mine, only I am capable of healing you," he explained his main objective. "If you wouldn't come to the Blood Moon Pack's territories together with me, then I'm sorry but, I'll be using force just to bring you home with me. I don't want the Asterbelles to be disappointed with me, no matter what happens."
As far as I can remember, my parents were never fond of entrusting me under someone else's care. Although, there's also a chance that their personalities might've changed already after all of the months that I've gone astray.
"Why would I be in need of your healing? Can't you see that I'm doing well even if I'm no longer with my parents?"
"You may be physically fit now, but your life is constantly draining. I can clearly see just with my own eyes that you've been poisoned with a wolfsbane," Joseph replied, then he lent his hand to me.
His hand was still large like before. I can still recall how Andrea kept on giggling every time their fingers got intertwined, seeing how small her hand was. Although, that was actually one of the reasons why she loved Joseph deeper. The simple sight of her being protected by him meant so much to her.
She never fell for anyone else as she still had hopes that Joseph would come back running to her side.
Even though I still had a lot of reasons to refuse his invitation, I held onto his hand, in hopes that he wouldn't actually harm the daughter of his alpha. "Can you at least tell me why I'm being summoned?"
Joseph gripped my hand, then faced the other side. "I-it was a lie, hybrid," he initially said, which made me confused. "I escaped the Blood Moon Pack's premises right after I heard a conversation of your parents; they are planning to kill you during your sleep without a precise date, so I got worried and rushed over to wherever you were," he explained.
I wasn't surprised to hear what he said. It was much more of a miracle that the Asterbelles are wasting too much of their time just to get rid of me. "Why does it matter to you anyway? Whether I live or die in their hands doesn't have any business with you, so why?"
Joseph let out a deep sigh as he pressed my hand. "I want you, Luna Asterbelle."
