Chapter 30 - His Remorse
DR. JOSEPH’s POV
Everything inside me was tearing apart. My consciousness was still intact, and yet, my whole body got taken over by my wolf. There was no way for me to stop what he wanted to do to Andrea, no matter how much I desired for her safety and security.
"Away..." I muttered in between my loud gasps while I was pulling my hair as strongly as I could.
I didn’t expect that Andrea would suddenly turn her hand to hold my wrist the same way as I did. “What’s the matter? P-please don’t injure yourself like this. It’s hurting me as well to see you suffering…” she said. “Yes, I may have no idea about what you’ve been through lately, but I know for sure that it’s been difficult for you. You’re still only a human after all. You don’t have to shoulder all of your problems on your own, you always have me by your side so can’t you at least depend on me too?” Her hand reached for my cheeks, which somehow made me flinch.
My bones began to crack as I transitioned to a heinous-looking beast. I attempted to intentionally remove my grip on her so that I wouldn't break her arm, which I successfully did. “I-I told you to run away, Miss Andrea!” I yelled out, trying to fight the monster living inside me.
“How can you possibly imagine that I’ll just leave you behind when you’re in this state? We promised to stick to one another at all times, didn’t we?” Andrea was still delusional about the relationship that we supposedly had before. “As much as I didn’t want to say this… I can’t help myself not to notice that… you’ve changed, Joseph. You’re no longer the same man that I used to love, you’re no longer the Joseph that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.”
Even though there was a hint of disgust there, I can still feel that she wasn’t really sincere with the words that she said.
“Who cares about what you feel, woman? If you’re going to give my partner a hard time like this, then you’d be better off dead. I can’t believe that I trusted you for a minute, you’re not worthy to be my mate at all,” said my wolf who began to run towards Andrea who’s currently running away as I told her.
She hid herself behind the machines which weren’t helping her at all. Her scent was getting stronger, her presence was visible to my bare eyes. Maybe this was the enhanced senses that my wolf possesses. Behind the steel table, I caught a glimpse of how her body was shifting as well. This time, it would be the moment for our wolves to shine.
Andrea’s wolf was mesmerizing. Even though her image was kind of weird, she still looked pretty in my own eyes. I want to hold her so badly and tell her how much I’m sorry for this sudden change of mine. I just wanted to confirm if she really was my mate, but based on how my wolf has reacted, there’s no more need for any sort of assurance.
She was a hundred percent made to be mine; Andrea was born to this world for me to cherish.
“Stop this nonsense, Josh,” Andy said as she called my wolf by its name at the same time that she showed herself. “You’re going to hurt not just yourself, but also your so-called partner. You should be the one who knows best, that Joseph was resurrected by the moon goddess herself because of Andrea’s consistent prayers. You shouldn’t have any authority to object.”
“I see that you didn’t grow even for a little bit, Andy. You’re still as naive as ever.”
Despite the conversation that the two were having, I can continuously hear the bloodlust of my wolf who was waiting for an opening to strike Andrea. The plan that he had was merely to slash her body apart, he doesn’t care no matter how many slices it would take for her to lose her life, as long as she would no longer breathe for another second in this world.
I have to somehow stop him from what he’s scheming, and yet, I’m currently powerless.
Right, I still have the capability to utilize our brain. If we’re really mates, then there’s no way that our mind links wouldn’t work.
Please make this function like before!
“Joseph?” I heard a woman’s faint voice, which was most probably hers.
“Andrea… Get out of here, please. I can no longer control Josh, and there’s no other way to make him listen to what I want. He’s planning to take your life, he wants to kill you with his own hands,” I warned her. “It doesn’t matter if you’d decide to go on to a faraway land and we lose communication from one another again, just save yourself. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I regained my conscience and saw that I have your blood on both of my hands and all over my body,” I continued to beg her.
“Never again…”
“What?”
“I’ll never leave you again just like how I abandoned you at the cafeteria back then! I kept on regretting my decision after I got out of that place and I never stopped feeling ashamed for weeks, and I kept on blaming myself for how I became so selfish that day. I couldn’t even pull your hand away from that wolf since I was too scared that I might end up dead as well. And now that I’m sane, there’s no way that I’ll repeat what’s been done before,” Andrea said, not leaving a single evidence of her being afraid with the outcome of her stubbornness.
Before I could utter a word, my brain freezed for a second when I realized that my claws had already slashed through Andy’s body.
“Ah, sorry. Did I interrupt your sweet talk with this woman?” Josh didn’t even feel a slight remorse for what he has committed.
