Chapter 56 - Crimson Moon Dormitories
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POV
No matter how many times I convinced myself that Yuki was lying to me, considering how I wore something precious to her without her consent, I just couldn't stop thinking of the possibility that Shin really was using me for his own benefit. "Can't you help us get out of this place? You're not residing within the pack house, right?" I begged Yuki to take me and the King over to her dormitory.
"Shin will kill me once he figures out that I'm the one who's responsible for assisting you out of the mansion," Yuki replied, obviously frightened of her brother.
I placed my hand on one of her shoulders to reassure her that what she was anticipating wouldn't occur. "Alpha Shin isn't that type of brother, Miss Yuki Holmes. From what I heard from Butler Zen, he's protecting you even when you're not in his mansion, since he knows how risky it is for you to be outside."
Yuki giggled, and for some reason, it was pleasant to my ears, as if it relieved all of the pain I had been keeping to myself. She gestured to me to follow her back to where I ran from, telling me that no one was along the way; she had enhanced her senses to determine if anyone was within the radius of her power.
We traced our way back to the dressing room as she changed into the mahogany-paired clothing of her choice, and then we traveled out of the mansion without getting caught by any of the pack warriors or the guards.
It only took us a few minutes before we reached an infrastructure that gave off various elements of magic that they used to create a barrier surrounding the entire dormitory. Their gate in the middle wasn't included on the barrier to let visitors inside.
"Use this, Asterbelle," Yuki said as I grabbed the ID from her hand.
"You can call me Luna." I smiled at her, then let the monitor scan my ID. It was at that moment that I got to finally enter their territories. "We have to go back to the mansion; King Dawn is still there. I don't want him to fight your brother..." I worriedly muttered after she showed me the way to my room.
The walls were rosy-themed, perfect for any woman who's into pink stuff. I prefer to have myself surrounded in either obsidian or maroon, since I think it has the same color as my heart.
"I'll be the only one to fetch that king or whoever. You have to stay here; there's no guarantee that Shin won't come searching for you there. Shin can't go here without giving me a formal notice beforehand," Yuki confidently replied as she took her leave.
My instincts were telling me that something wrong would happen soon. It might be a few hours later, tonight, or even at this very moment! It’s like my gut sent me warning signs about how I should prepare myself just because of the absence of Miss Yuki Holmes in the dorm.
With a perplexed mind, my feet decided to move on their own; I went out of the room, then headed straight to the end of the floor’s hallway. It was the only area where I felt secure. "What’s with this gentle aura?" I asked myself as I sensed the lightweight vibrations that passed through the barriers of my skin.
"Who’s there?" A man’s voice echoed in my ears. I looked around and even glanced through the open space of the hallway, but I saw no one. "Is anyone there?" was repeated by the same person.
"This is Luna Asterbelle speaking. Who are you?" I responded as I returned the same query.
"Ah! I finally connected to someone—and it’s you, Luna!" The man spoke to me as if we were close. And judging from his reaction, we might’ve performed a successful mind-linking process where I wasn’t even asked for permission to be granted. "Where are you? Shin’s sister is here with me, but…" he stopped at the same time that I got more worried than earlier.
"But what? Is something wrong? Don’t tell me…" I paused for a while, pondering if I should continue, "Did you hurt or kill Miss Yuki Holmes?" I almost raised my pitch.
"No, that’s not it… It’s just…"
"What?!" I couldn’t control my temper. I wanted to rush back to the mansion to know what’s troubling Dawn about Yuki; however, I can’t leave the dorm without her.
"Shin’s sister kept on insisting that I should find a way to contact you in whatever manner to inform you about the current situation outside the dormitories…" Dawn finally explained the reason for his distress, but I was still confused, so he further discussed it in detail. "If you want to know what’s happening there, you better lock yourself in the room where she left you. It would be the only spot where you can rest assured. From there, you could take a look at the scenery outside the building; there’s a surveillance camera anywhere that you can make use of while you’re there."
King Dawn wasn’t making any sense at all.
My eyebrows furrowed closely. "W-what are you saying? Come here with Miss Yuki Holmes and tell me what’s going on, so I can understand better!"
"We can’t, Lun—"
I was about to ask him something else, but we’ve already lost our mind-link. It was inevitable to try again since I didn’t know how to get a hold of him, just like he did with me.
An explosion from the other building stole my attention. I quickly went to the other end, in hopes that I’d see what caused it, but I couldn’t see anything from here.
Remembering what the King told me just now, I went back to my room despite the commotion that was scattering while I was on my way. The people who looked like students seemed to be as startled as I was.
Wait…
Students?
Could it mean that the other building isn’t just another branch of their dormitories—it’s the Crimson Moon Academy?
