The Player who Gets Played 29. Parental Intuition

Louise's POV

"Honey, where's Allen? I thought you're bringing him here today?"

"He's busy with his competition thing mom, has been for weeks now." I rest my back to the dining chair, the last couple of weeks work has been crazy. Jeff has been piling on Adam's work on me. He specifically said that Adam wanted me on top of his projects.

I think Adam just wanted to see me break, he was waiting for me to give up and let him have the glory of saying that I couldn't handle the work.

"Oh honey, you look exhausted. Do you want something to drink? Your dad should be here shortly, and then we will have a nice family dinner."

"I'm good, mom, it's Adam, he's been gunning for my failure since the moment he saw me with Allen weeks ago."

"I know that man is bad news when you came home with his ring on your finger."

"But lucky for me, he was quick in his cheating ways."

"That's not what I meant, but I'm glad that you found Allen. So, what are your plans? both of you are not exactly young anymore?"

"Mom, please we barely dated for two months. I think we need more time and with my issues. I think..."

I was about to say some more when out of nowhere, the same nausea which I've been having for the past couple of days hit me. And mom was looking at me worriedly. I was quick to go to the bathroom, while she trail behind me then hold my hair up as I emptied my stomach.

"You need his ring honey, how long has it been since your last period?" mom asked when we were back in the kitchen.

No, it can't be...I was convincing myself that it was because of exhaustion and that I was lacking the appetite to eat. Fuck!

"I forgot, and you know how my periods are. They come and go as they please. But maybe a month or so, and I'm on my pills so..." I just shrugged at her, while she makes me a cup of hot milk, saying that it would help with the nausea.

Panic started to set in when dad arrived at the door. "Mom, could you not mention this to him just yet?"

"I'll give you a couple of days, I doubt I can keep something hidden from him anyway. You know how we are."

I sighed and nodded at her, knowing that dad would probably find out about this nausea of mine in a matter of hours. They both shared everything and were always honest with one another. But what exactly is this? I knew that I need to go to my gynecologist the next morning.

Taking out my phone I started typing a text to Cherise, telling her to set me an appointment with my gynecologist the next day. She was late in replying, but then her text came as she carries on telling me that she would get everything sorted out, and would email my new schedule for tomorrow.

Dinner went agonizingly slow and knowing dad, he directly asked the question.

"Okay, what are you girls hiding? where's Allen? I thought he would be coming tonight."

Mom looked at me but stay quiet, realizing that I have to answer to dad.

"Mom thinks I should check in with my doctor. She thinks I should get Allen to buy me a ring."

Dad dropped his cutleries and looked at me seriously.

"And what are you going to do about this? do I need to step in? I don't care how filthy rich he is, he will be responsible for you."

"Dad, please...I might not even be pregnant."

But then he looked at mom, and she nodded at him. I sighed and decided to end the dinner.

"I'm going back to my place. I'm tired. I'll let you guys know the result, after my check-in with the doctor."

"Look honey, you can stay here. Please don't be upset, we're just looking out for you."

Mom was trying to get me to stay, she said that she will accompany me to the doctor tomorrow. But I was not feeling it, I needed my alone time and with Allen still out of the city, I need to think things through.

"I'm okay mom, I'm a big girl. I got my friends too, I'll be just fine. Dad, I'm going...I'll call you guys tomorrow. I love you." I said hugging and saying my goodbyes to them.

I decided to call Sherry when I got back, but she and the girls were going out clubbing. She asked me to join, but I just laugh it off saying tomorrow is a workday.

"Seriously babe, just say the words we will bring our party to your place and leave these delectable guys." She giggled from the other end of the line.

Sherry and the girls have been spending a lot of time with Allen's friends, miraculously they all clicked with one another. But obviously, the question still remained between me and Allen. Though he was so sure about us and I love him back, but my doubt for both of us stayed deep in my thoughts.

"No hon, you girls enjoy your boys. Just because mine isn't around, I shouldn't wreck your night."

"Are you sure? like dead seriously sure?"

"Sherry...babe, enjoy your night. We'll talk tomorrow."

"Alright if you insist."

"I do..."

We said our goodbyes, then I was back to my own reality. Taking my purse to the bathroom, I kept on staring at the pregnancy kit, which I bought earlier on my way back to my apartment.

Arghh...fuck it! I'm doing this!

It was twenty minutes later when I was still sitting on the couch staring into nothingness.

Pregnant, I'm really pregnant.

Deep down I doubt that tomorrow's visit to the doctor would state otherwise. Then the nausea came and it hit me hard making me run then hunch over the toilet, and for the second time that night, I was draining my stomach.

I finally leaned on the bathroom counter, tired from all the vomiting. I was gurgling on the mouthwash when my phone buzzed, I looked at the time realizing that it must be Allen.

"Hey baby, what are you wearing?"

We've been having sexy chats every night since he was away for his training. My mind was blank, I was thinking of ways to tell or not to tell him just yet. He pushed me for an answer when I was still silent to his question.

"Lou? is everything okay? did something happen at the family dinner?"

"Yes, sorry...I'm...Allen.." my voice was small and raspy from vomiting.

"Are you sick? you sounded sick... are you at your parents"

"I'm back at my apartment..."

"You're making me worry baby..."

"I'm okay, shit...I don't know how to do this?"

"Do what Lou? we're taking this at your pace."

"I'll be making sure about this tomorrow, Cherise already made a doctor appointment for me. The result should be in by then. Maybe we should talk about this tomorrow. You know... just if it's only a scare?" I let out a nervous laugh, but he was obviously not buying it.

"Lou, you know I will go there right now if you're not being straight with me, are you sick? are you alone? fuck it...I'm going there right now..."

I could hear him rustling some stuff, at the other end of the line.

"Wait, no...I'm good, well aside from the constant vomiting..."

"Lou...baby..." he sounded worried but patiently waiting for me.

"I'm...I...I might be pregnant..."

"Damn it, Louise, you freaking scare me...I'm going there right now. I'm blowing off tomorrow's session. We need to celebrate this, we're..."

"But we...I...shit, Allen we just know each other..."

"So? we are having a kid, people do this all over the world. You know he's going to be handsome as fuck with my genes."

I finally laugh at his words, he was not pushing me for anything. He was just saying that we're having a kid, he was really taking it at my pace.

"And you're sure it'll be a he?"

"So, you're sure that you're pregnant. Wait...I'm getting in the car...Yeah Sam, to the city. Directly to Louise's apartment, please..."

I could hear him closing the car door, he was really leaving everything for me. I was suddenly smiling, biting my lip as I couldn't hold my excitement. I had actually have been missing him but with work and our busy schedules, it seemed too selfish of me to demand his time for us.

"Want me to get anything for you? and for the little guy? you said you've been vomiting...I'll get something for you to eat."

"Okay..." I sighed and finally rest back on my bed. We kept on talking for the next hour until his battery died on us. He told me to rest, saying that he'll be at my place in less than two hours.
