Chapter Thirty Three - The Devil She Doesn't Know Part Four
Their eyes were alight with resentment and I could read through them as though they were see- through. They were about to make sure that I regret taking the biggest risk of upsetting my father and coming here.

"First I have to figure out who Marosa is..."
"Who? Is that his side whore?" Dyne asked with a cocked brow, making me aware that I had thought out loud.
"No... I was just... never mind..." I dismissed. There was nothing to explain. I am just as confused as she is. I do not know why he calls me Marosa and what past I have to remember, but I need answers, because clearly I am not going to recover the memories my mother is adamant I have anytime soon. There is another name he mentioned which was not familiar to me: Cassien. Handling most of his affairs, I know most of the names he associates himself with, but do not remember any Cassien.
"Oh there you are!" Jon spoke from behind me, the sudden presence of his voice startling me a bit. He offered me a glass full of cold beverage. I had asked for some non- alcoholic drink after he insisted on me drinking something and he had made me a delicious cocktail of juices. "We are playing some games inside, you should come."
"Wait, I am not done with her, fuck off Jon, this is girl time." Dyne shooed him with a wave of her hands and Jon gave her this tense, weird stare which I could only read as murderous.
"Give me a few minutes to finish off with her." I told him and he directed the same pertubing stare to me.
"Ten minutes. I will be waiting for you." He expressed in this off- putting tone and just walked away. Jon has been acting really strangely tonight, he has been so taut and aloof, to the point where I was almost convinced that my mere existence irritates him.
"That kid's fucked up, but aren't we all!" Dyne remarked with a slight sneer, before reaching for her back pocket and retrieving a pack of cigarettes.
"I think I said something to offend him, he has been acting really strangely, maybe he is mad at me." I should probably apologise again, I cannot afford to have Jon thinking that I am an ignorant, insensitive, spoilt brat. As terrible as it sounds, he is my distraction, my back-up plan. The Devil has my mother and I have Jon for the same purposes.
Dyne shook her head, leaning further into the wood, "Nah! It is not you, he is always like this. Kerv, Lark and Geal are the same, all fucked up and super weird. Their aunt and sister disappeared some time ago and that messed up their minds... they are all sociopaths, if you ask me. Come, let's go hang out with the other girls." She grasped my wrist and dragged me back to the bonfire.
Most of the people had passed out and those who were not splayed on the ground were making out and feeling each other up. I spent some time with Dyne, learning her techniques as she shared her experiences with her boyfriend's daddy with me in explicit, full details. I somehow envied her, she had gotten what she wanted and was not a prude about it.
By the time I left her for the cabin, ten minutes had long elapsed and I was feeling a bit lethargic. I was overwhelmed by this strange fatigue and my head felt light, my mind not functioning to its best ability. The thoughts I was formulating were getting more hazy and insensible with the passing seconds.
"Something's staring at us, it's in the woods." I yawned, almost slurring my words due to how drowsy I felt. I lifted the glass to my lips and immediately realised that it was empty. "I need a drink..." I mumbled to myself, receiving no response from Dyne because she was busy sucking faces with her boyfriend. I scuffed to the cabin and opened the door without knocking.
"Hey, can I have some water?" I shoved my glass into Jon's chest, removing my mask for a bit and rubbing my eyes.
"Sure. Sit down." He ordered in an austere voice, pointing at the couch. I nodded my head and settled, slumping back because sitting upright demanded too much energy. The cabin did not look any less creepy inside than its haunted exterior. The interior was clustered and a mess, it looked like it had not had a thorough clean in a long time.
"What are you looking at?" One of his brothers, I think Geal, asked in a mordant tone, bringing to my blunt attention the strange atmosphere and set- up.
I was all alone in the living room with Jon's three brothers and they were all sitting opposite to me and boring their eyes into me. I, of course was very intimidated, the eldest: Kerv, was a decade older than me and he was the largest of his brothers, tall and hulking. They all looked pissed and I wondered why.
"Nothing..." I rubbed my palms into my leather clad thighs and sighed in relief as Jon returned with a glass of water. "Thank you." I accepted it from him and guzzled the entire glass at one go. Jon joined his brothers and pierced me with his eyes as well. As soon as the last draft of liquid went down my throat, I felt even more strange, even more light- headed.
"Uhmmm... It is pretty late, I think I should probably go home." I attempted to stand up, but as soon as I made it on my feet, Kerv addressed me irately.
"Sit your ass down." He ordered so sternly, I fell back on the seat almost immediately.
"You are not going anywhere." His younger brother; Lark, added.
My confusion climbed over the crest. I tried opening my eyes wide to keep attentive, but even the simplest of facial movements required more effort than usual. 'What is happening to me?' I asked myself, balling up my hands into fists as numbness strode through my arms.
"What is going on, Jon?" I begged him for enlightenment and he only glared at me like I was a nuisance.
"You are not leaving this cabin until you have answered every single question of ours." Kerv threatened and an avalanche of dread instantly washed over me at his menacing tone.
This was not ideal. I knew that something was wrong and that things were about to go from bad to worse. I quickly fumbled for my phone in hopes of texting Varto, but discovered that it was not on me.
"Looking for this?" Jon flashed my cell tauntingly, placing it on the armrest with a menacing smile. "You know, you turned out to be an even bigger imbecile than I imagined."
My heartbeat accelerated as my eyes went from brother to brother and I soaked in their malicious thoughts. Their eyes were alight with resentment and I could read through them as though they were see- through. They were about to make sure that I regret taking the biggest risk of upsetting my father and coming here. In that moment I figured that the vertigo was not natural, that Jon must have spiked my drink and the water.
"What do you want?" I asked, putting on a brave face despite my utter fright. With the living circumstances I have seen, It was easy for me to assume that they were planning on holding me for ransom. "How much? If you give me my phone I can transfer some money-" I was silenced by the startling sound of breaking glass. Kerv had snatched one of the ashtrays on the table in front of him and thrown it at me, barely missing me by two inches. The glass hit the wall and shattered above my head.
"You think this is about money!" Kerv snarled, seething with rage, looking deeply insulted. "Say one more stupid word and I swear to you, your daddy will never see you again." My insides shrunk at that threat.
What had I gotten myself into?!
