Chapter Thirty Seven- The Devil She Doesn't Know Part Eight
It instantly occurred to me that I was in the arms of a stranger, I had never seen this man before in my entire life, but his ethereal beauty and his alien, striking features looked so familiar to me. I quickly figured that that was because he held such a strong resemblance to the object of my torrid fantasies and vivid nightmares.
-----••••¡¡¡¡•••-----
Varto casually wore his black gloves, fixed his jacket and shirt which I noted to be different from the button down he was wearing when we left the hotel. The shirt must have gotten besmirched with blood and brain matter, which he is very aware that I hate the smell of and sight of, so he must have changed. Once he was done putting himself together, his stoic demeanour was admirable and bewildering as he instructed Morvig to stop the car in front of the garden.
The night was at its crest, it was well past two when Varto took my trembling hand and escorted me into the hotel. For the first time tonight, his eyes scanned my form and he looked genuinely concerned for me and that made me anxious. He was dauntless this whole time, but now that we are in the confines of the Devil's residence, he was in a discernible fret. So far, the hotel was as vacant as when I left it, we had not seen a single person in the floor we had covered. I could just feel it in my bones that that was about to change very soon, so I was immensely surprised when we made it to the suites without encountering anyone.
"Thank you Varto, yet again, I am terribly sorry for the way I have been behaving, please forgive me, expect no such behaviour from me again." I was sincerely rueful and glad that he seemed to understand as he subtly nodded his head. Varto has always been there for me, he is the only one who cares to listen when I vent about my annoyance with the world and he is the only reason the trips to and from school are less tedious and nerve-wrecking- so I do not know where I got the audacity to blackmail him.
"I just hope you learned a valuable lesson, ma'am." He said, his tone only slightly reprimanding.
"Trust me, I did, I learnt a lesson I will never forget." Not yet, but I know those words will be more justified as soon as in the next minutes. "You may leave, Varto." I dismissed with a wry smile, right after extending out my arms and yawning. It was like the effect of the drugs that had worn off, was returning and applying strain to my systems.
Varto slightly bowed his head and quickly glanced over his shoulder, before astonishing me by grabbing my hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "Have a great night, Se'i sylla." He released my hand and walked off, quickly disappearing from my sight. He has never called me 'fire princess' before, or exhibited any emotion close to sadness, but I could swear I saw a tinge of sadness benighting his teal eyes as he held my hand.
If only he knew just how aroused I became thinking about the Devil exerting some barbarity on me, he would have been worried about me in a different way.
I quickly looked around, satisfied with the lavish interior my eyes beheld. A long stack of stairs framed with and gold railing of welded steel with intricate design was the centerpiece in this floor, outshining even the brilliant placement of the piano room. I made the conscious decision to take the stairs to the ninth floor to give myself more time to mentally prepare for my pending meeting with the Devil. I examined my wear as I ascended a few steps and I decided to lower the zip of my bodysuit and reveal a daring glimpse of cleavage so the Devil becomes more provoked when he sees me and thinks I have been showing this much skin the whole night. I tossed around my tousled hair in an attempt to make it look more appealing and shake off any grass and grime from it, before facing my phone's selfie camera to examine my appearance. I was displeased, my lips were a bit chapped and I looked like I just climbed out of a ditch. I will have to wash my face and put on a bit of make-up, because this face is not going to seduce anybody.
With most of my concentration on my phone, I somehow placed my foot too close to the edge and almost lost balance, but I quickly grabbed onto the railing and steadied myself. I am such a disaster and a hazard to myself tonight. I sighed deeply, in that instance fully registering my exhaustion. It was like a soporific agent was seeping into my bones. Yawning, I lifted my foot and placed it on the next block, before I found myself screaming as I tipped back. An inexplicable force hauled me backwards, throwing me off balance. The moment only lasted for about two seconds, one second I was clawing at the air, imagining myself tumbling down the stairs and breaking my spine and the next second I was no longer falling and was secured in a slanted position.
Burly arms locked around my chest, someone of a large stature had caught me and saved me from grave injury. Before I could even recover from the scare, I was startled yet again as I was swiftly swept off my feet and the man scooped me up into his arms, carrying me down the stairs bridal style. I did not realise that I had my eyes closed the entire time, until the man cleared his throat and my eyes fluttered open and were immediately entrapped by the most mesmerizing, hypnotizing pair of cobalt blue eyes. It instantly occurred to me that I was in the arms of a stranger, I had never seen this man before my entire life, but his ethereal beauty and his alien, striking features looked so familiar to me. I quickly figured that that was because he held such a strong resemblance to the object of my torrid fantasies and vivid nightmares. The Devil.
I did not think it was possible for a man to give the Devil, the gorgeous Beast of Hell such fierce competition.
If I can't have the Devil, he will certainly be the next best option. He can own me any day.
