Chapter 14 Sign a contract
Olivia's POV,
This wasn't happening. How did I get myself into this mess? These people were everything I loathed my entire life. The sight of such criminals made me sick to the stomach. I didn't want this, knowing my parents always told me to be upright and stay away from such men, and now I was sitting in front of their leader. The man who was the devil himself and looking at him. I would rather not be here.
“What? Are you scared?” Pedro asked with a dark expression. I didn't know these people were mafias. And he was their leader. The Mafia King.
“You should respect him because he damn saved your life…” this time Zane was the one who said harshly. Earlier when they killed those two men. I wanted to run and get away from there. I chose not to be a part of it, unfortunately , I was dragged back to their den, which now I realized was the mafia hideout.
“But you kill people…you do illegal things…what makes you any different from Luciano,” I said, lowering my gaze from Pedro seated opposite, giving a blank scary expression. I would rather not look at him. What if he shot me, just like he shot others.
“Leave,” Pedro said calmly, and I was surprised he was this calm. Wasn't he supposed to be angry over the insults I rained on him and his mafia friends?
“Sacha…let me."
“Leave!” This time Pedro yelled, startling me and I saw as though hesitant Zane tapped his fingers on the table before he glanced at me with a sharp gaze and then left the office. The door slammed shut and my heart raced.
"Do you think you are going to make your little lover pay by…just saying it?” Pedro said as he pushed the chair he was sitting in backward and when I looked up. He was taking off his coat and when he did. He tossed it over as it landed on the couch. This was my revenge. I already had my plans to ruin Luciano. He didn't have to get involved.
"The man I killed caused the shootout…your little lover is involved in illegal things…he made more enemies over the years than friends' 'Pedro added, and I saw as he walked up to a shelf. I didn't see exactly what he was doing, but when he returned…he had a blue file in his hands.
“You kill people why didn't you call…the police or something,”I blurted out, not sure if my voice had always been this hoarse, but he shouldn't have taken matters into his own hands. If he were in court, then he would be convicted of murder. It wasn't self-defense but taking matters into his hands. Pedro didn't say a word but slammed the file on the table near me and half sat close to me. I shifted a little in my seat and lowered my eyes to the blue file.
“Did the police investigate your family case and prove your innocence…right now just mention the Altamirano surname in the streets…and you'll see what will happen,” Pedro said as he reached his large hand to the file. His legs brushed against mine and I had to say. Such a strong hand. Those long slender fingers, however, maybe he was right. My family name had been driven into mud by the Garcias. My dad died a horrible death when all he did was sever the people well and defend the weak.
“What's this?” I asked when he kept on flipping pages, giving me even more anxiety than I already had from that shootout earlier.
“This is a contract… sign it, “Pedro said looking up at me, and I was stunned. I couldn't believe it. Why was he making me sign a contract?
“I…don't want to…why should I do it?”I stuttered, denying anything that had to do with binding myself to the devil. He was a mafia man. I didn't want to be a part of this circus.
“I didn't want to use this, but you left me no choice Livia…” he said, but I would rather not do it. Signing a contract was like selling myself to the devil, and everyone knew what that was. His gaze fixed on me as I sat there fighting with my mind about what to do. This was serious. A mafia boss was here. I was in his den and if he wanted he would snap me in half and bury me somewhere no one would ever find me, not as anyone knew about my existence.
“W-what if…I don't…”
“I'm the only one with the power to help you…the Garcias are cunning…they burned your entire family alive or do you want me to remind you,” he cut me off rudely and said, fixing his harp penetrating gaze on me. His voice gave me chills, but he was right. I needed help fighting Luciano.
“You are not doing this for me…but for your little brother…your innocent mother and your precious father,” he added as he slid the file forward and handed me a pen. The memories of my parents flashed before me as I sat there. This decision wasn't for me alone but the justice of my family. I had no choice but to seek the devil's help, hence signing this contract was my only way out.
“By signing this contract…you completely belong to me Livia… everything belongs to me…while you take this revenge you are not allowed to go against me or do things without my knowledge,” he said when I read through what he had written. My eyes darted around the clear paper, letting the words sink in. Everything he said was written and the more I read the scary things got.
“Keep in mind…you are not allowed to sleep with any man, not even your ex lover” he said as his eyes lowered down and when I looked up. I was stunned. Blinking a few times, my hand clenched tightly. And who told him I wanted anything to do with men. Love was nothing but lies, so were all men. No matter what you gave them. Men always remained liars.
“My team will give you a thorough introduction to our world…teach you how to fight and well…hold a gun for a change” he stated as he got off the table and walked to his wine cellar. All I could do was listen to him. He seemed to have carefully planned all this.
“I don't want anything…”.
“A gun is crucial… learning to fight is imperative…this is a dangerous world, Livia…I'm sure you know by now,” he said, cutting me off again as he glanced over his shoulder, and he was smirking as he poured himself a vodka. Not just him, but he came back with another glass of vodka and handed it to me.
“Here…it will soothe your aching throat and…lighten up your mood,” he said, still smirking at me. I was hesitant to take the glass, but I took it anyway and lifted it to my lips and gulped down the entire liquid in one go.
“Hey hey…it's…” he started saying, reaching out for my hand, but I already drank everything and slammed the glass on the table, only to look up and find a shocked Pedro staring at me with amusement in his eyes.
“Okay…now that's a problem,” he said with a frown, but I didn't care. I adjusted to the liquid I had just drank and then picked up the pen. I didn't have to read the rest as I signed and when I was done. I slammed the file shut. Shoved it in his hand. Took his half glass of vodka unexpectedly, and gulped it in one go, shocking him, even more, when I shoved the glass back in his hands.
“Good night, Mr. Mafia man,” I said, getting up from my chair and heading for the door. I didn't look back but opened the door and walked out and closed it behind me with a loud bang. I was exhausted, hence just wanted to sleep.
“Now that's new,”Pedro , who just regained his wits, said with a grin as he glanced down, and he was amused. He thought she would refuse, but no. It seemed she was fine now. He chose the right woman to ruin the Garcias and now it was showtime.
“So…she agreed”the shelves opened and Zane walked back in. Pedro tossed the file away and walked back to his chair.
“Tomorrow make arrangements…I'm sure that Luciano is looking for her by now,” Pedro said as his expression turned serious again.
“Sure… everything is ready…”Zane said as he sat down and exhaled heavily. It was a long night. Pedro was more than relieved he had taken care of his enemies, for starters. He didn't go to that party to have fun but for a mission.
“She needs proper training…tell Gabby to get ready…” Pedro said, and Zane arched his brows.
“And the fighting?” Zane asked, not sure if he would do it or tell Enzo to get his men ready.
“I'll do it,” as expected smirked upon hearing that from Pedro. It was amazing how the mafia boss chose to teach someone to fight. He never did that not even once but for the little lady, he had broken a few more of his rules.
