chapter 23 Being a Garcia
After losing her job and her family, Sydney focused more on investigating how to hurt the people who took away her friend and her family. She wasn't surprised when her family threw her out. She would have called her dad. However, it was best she didn't involve him in her affairs, especially when he already had a family of his own.
“Thanks a lot, “Sydney said as she paid the bills. There was only one thing she disliked, and that was seeing anything that had to do with the Garcias. They ruined her life and crashed her future.
“I'm sorry Miss, but we need someone more qualified” another rejection came. She thought they would request a CV. She didn't have any, all she had were her skills. Seeking employment wasn't easy.
“What now,” she said while wiping sweat from her face.
She woke up early this morning and set out to seek employment. This time she wanted something decent, not where she worked but what was decent when these people weren't willing to give her any. The sun was hot, and she had been going from one restaurant to another and there was nothing.
“Maybe the bar can take it” the day was ending. It was enough. She was tired of walking around the city; hence she found a quiet place to sit and sat down to rest. She took out her phone and started scrolling through. There was only one place left to go to. Here they needed an assistant. The person was a well-known architect, and he was looking for an assistant.
“What should I do?” she muttered, closing her eyes for a while. Perhaps she should go. The building is a few blocks away. When she thought about it. She decided to go there. Just to try her luck.
“E-excuse me… I'm here for the interviews,” she said to the first person she saw when she walked in. It was a man. He seemed to be on the phone.
“Yes…yes…please transfer the money” the man kept. Sydney waited for him to finish so she could talk to him, and when he did.
“And you…what can I do for you?” the man said, turning to look at her. For a second, his question frightened her, but gathered enough courage for her.
“I'm here for interviews…assistant. I saw it in an Ad”Sydney said, showing the man her phone. He didn't say anything but scanned her from head to toe.
“Since you are the only one early… I guess Mr. Alfredo has to decide” the man said with a long exhale. The place looked empty. That didn't concern me, but the name he. Mentioned. Was it the same Alfredo Garcia or some other man? Sydney's blood boiled at the thought of her mortal enemy. In the past, she used to have a thing for that man until his family showed their true colors.

The dappled sun shone through the trees, creating mysterious shadows. The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze. It was a beautiful day as Olivia was on her way to Garcia's company. The blazing midday sun shone relentlessly on the hikers. The roads shimmered in the heat of the midday sun as the card moved around heading to their desired destinations.
“You know more beautiful people are born each year, so stop acting like you are the only one”Ira scoffed, glancing back at Olivia sitting in the back seat busy playing with her face and hair.
“Still can't wrap my fingers about this…why do I need you following me around…babysitting,” Olivia countered back sarcastically and Ira rolled her eyes in annoyance and turned to look at the road ahead. The driver was silent as he drove at normal speed. Olivia made a poker face, not sure why she was still getting used to the new face. Every day she sat in front of the mirror staring at her reflection. She never knew this kind of surgery was possible. She bet it cost millions to get a new face. Keeping that aside, she rolled down the car window and stared out, admiring the beautiful city.
“Just don't flunk this. It's important for Sacha” ira threw me a glare when the car came to a halt in front of a skyscraper. The location was nothing glamorous. I didn't roll down the window but gathered my things and shoved them in my purse. The mention of Pedro had me recalling what he made me do the previous night.
Since morning, I did everything to avoid seeing him. I wouldn't want to do that again because now all I kept seeing was his thing. When I closed my eyes, I saw his thing. I even avoided eating a lollipop when Zane offered me earlier because it reminded me of my deed. Putting such thoughts aside, I stared out the window.
“I'll keep in touch…make sure you say what I tell you… Luciano shouldn't be suspicious” Ira added as she inserted the Bluetooth device in her ear. By now I was used to these things.
“Sure what else mom?” I said with a scoff, looking at Ira mockingly. I didn't say a thing but opened the door and elegantly stepped out while the driver rushed to open mine.
“Thanks,” I said, adjusting the suit I was wearing. I didn't know I could rock the office wear given by Ira. The grumpy woman knew my size because I looked so beautiful.
“Welcome…kindly follow me”immediately we stepped out and were greeted by a fine-looking lady.
“Sure,” I said cheekily and held my purse close while we flooded her to the entrance which was way up. We had to climb some stairs to reach the top. What surprised me was having to see Luciano waiting for me.

“Sacha…the lady…”Zane started as he shifted his gaze towards Pedro, busy playing with his favorite gun. It was frightening each time the mafia man took out his gun. He has had it since he was into the mafia business. He didn't use any other gun than the one in his hands.
“Are you sure…she won't… I mean, what if old feelings get in the way?”Zane asked hesitantly. He knew how love worked, especially with women. Yes, Luciano hurt Olivia, but with what he saw. The lady must have loved him a lot.
“Her mission is clear… I'm sure that won't happen” Pedro said more calmly as he glanced down at his gun. He saved her because he wanted her to make sure she took her revenge. He, too, had a score to settle with the Garcias.
“Then I won't worry…it's just that I don't trust women,” Zane said, shifting back to his sitting position. Pedro on the other side knew the weapon to use if Olivia decided to let old feelings get in the way. The day she chose to interfere in his affairs was the day she was bound to him.
“Still I don't know about this…if it were up to me, I'd put a bullet in each one of them” Zane muttered angrily, the hatred he harbored for the Garcias was something he couldn't control. But his mission was simple.
“For now…follow the plan…you know what's needed,” Pedro said as he looked up at Zane. Of course, Zane was aware of what was to be done. The main adjective here was to create misunderstandings and more than double for the Garcias. Pedro's main aim was to let them destroy each other until they died a miserable death.
“Okay boss… I'll get going," Zane said, getting up from the chair. He came to see Pedro before he went off to Antonia's house. His part was quite interesting. Seducing a beautiful old woman. His dick throbbed at the thought of taking that woman.
As soon as Zane left from there, Pedro remained seated as he listened to what Olivia and Luciano were discussing. He was aware of everything. Luciano was a man, after all. He had a weakness and that was women. He cheated on his wife.
“Ask him about his wife's family…I'm sure he'll feel guilty” Pedro muttered calmly for Olivia to hear. She was wearing Bluetooth, so communication was easy.
“He's lying…”Pedro said as he pushed the chair backward and rose to his feet. He didn't know of a man who played with words as Luciano did. No wonder naive Olivia fell for him. Switching off the communication between him and Olivia. Pedro lifted a glass of whiskey Zane poured for him before he left. His expression darkened and was unreadable. Taking a sip, Pedro glanced at the open window.
“Dear brother, I'll make all of you pay” he muttered through gritted teeth, the only thing he loathed was Garcia. He was damned to make them pay, especially Antonia.
