Chapter 24 Working for the enemy
Olivia had a smirk on her face as she walked around Luciano's office. According to Pedro. They aimed to cause a huge scandal for him. First, starting with the people who had been supporting him.
“How's that possible…how can the shipment be delayed…are you fucking insane!” Olivia heard Luciano yelling over his phone. This was what she wanted. Slowly, the Garcia's would lose their prestigious wealth. Antonia was a shrewd woman. Her stronghold was knowing she had money to do whatever she wanted.
“How did that fucking happen…this is important,” Luciano snarled, sounding extremely angered that Olivia took a seat and picked up the glass of wine the man poured for her. It had been a while since she heard Pedro talk to her via Bluetooth.
“Hey… Mr. Mafia…are you there?” Olivia whispered, holding her right ear a little. She wanted to ask if the man had done something to Luciano's shipment which was to be delivered “hey…are you there?” she mumbled, glancing to the sides; however, there was no reply. With a frown, Olivia straightened up and leaned back in the chair. So much for teaming up with a man who thought the world revolved around him.
After a while, the office door opened and an angry-looking Luciano walked in. Olivia faked a smile as she glanced back, following his movements until he strode to his chair.
“Mr. Garcia, is everything okay?” she asked with fake concern when Luciano dropped on his chair angrily. His movements were aggressive, as if he could punch through a wall. Seeing him being miserable, Olivia smirked as she got up from her chair, pushing it backward.
“Is everything okay…do you need anything?” she muttered, this time a little softly. If she was going to be in Luciano's good books, she needed to be extra nice to him.
“Yeah… I'm fine…do me a favor, can we continue tomorrow?” the man said, burying his face in his palms. Olivia, who was to touch him, stopped midway.
“Sure…but are you certain I can leave, “she asked, even if she wanted to celebrate his misery. Of all things, nothing tastes sweeter than seeing Luciano worked up and miserable.
“Yes, if you don't mind…” Luciano said, looking up at her with a soft gaze. Olivia nodded, picked up her purse and looked at him one more time, and left from there.
When they talked, Luciano had a few conditions for Pedro's proposal. First, he didn't want Pedro to own many shares in the company. Olivia scoffed as soon as she left the Garcia building and made her way toward the parking area. Luciano was afraid Pedro might gain more power. At the same time, she wanted to laugh because now he was losing things. Eventually, he would give Pedro a giant portion of his company.
“So…did you hear?” Olivia asked as soon as she entered the car and found Ira seated in the same spot she sat earlier, busy on her phone.
“The man will fall soon…he lost an important shipment today…tomorrow he might lose half of the investors and the next his employees…it's a long list to his doom,” Ira said, waving her hands in the air dramatically. Olivia wanted to ask more, but kept quiet as the driver started the car.
One thing which was bothering Olivia was how she was going to take pictures of Luciano with a naked woman in bed.
“For now, just focus on making him fall for you…so much that he won't listen to anyone other than you,” Ira said, glancing back at me. I understood what Pedro was doing.
But was it fair for me to seduce that man? I loved him once. The feelings I had for him were real, so how was I to make him love me?
“Sure,” I muttered and fixed my eyes on my phone. I asked someone to keep an eye on Sydney…after what Pedro told me. I wanted her to be safe. Not only that, but I would have loved to see her, unfortunately because the mafia had all his men watching. He even ordered Ira not to let me out of her sight.
“Ira, can you pull up at the hospital,” I said moving forward, and the lady glanced over her shoulder with creased brows?
“Why…are you sick or something?” she asked coldly. I wasn't sick or anything, but there was something I wanted to check about my health.
“No…just some lady stuff if you don't mind, “I said, not trying to make it obvious. She didn't say anything, but snorted and got back to what she was doing. I didn't forget about this. Placing my hand on my belly, a strange feeling washed over me. I suffered a miscarriage, it was a hard fall and something frightening g. I wanted to know if my womb was in perfect shape. Just to make sure nothing happened to my uterus.

Sydney had an angry expression on her face. The hate she harbored for the Gracias was something she couldn't control. Any member of the Garcias made her feel nauseous.
“You don't have to… I wouldn't take anything from you, no matter how helpless I was,” Sydney said defensively, shoving the documents Alfredo had placed on the table for her to sign…no matter how good-looking he was.
“Look here…this is business… I'm sure you know not to mix personal issues with business,” Alfredo said, arching his brows at the woman standing before him. Sydney was even angrier as she shot him a glare, which Alfredo ignored and massaged his temples a little. Talking to the lady would make any man lose brain cells.
“I didn't know this place belonged to a filthy man like you,” Sydney spat out bitterly, she had to say. The man has changed a lot. He was more well-built, handsome, and manly. She wondered if he spent his time outdoors chopping woods for his arms to be so rippled.
“Sign it… I've hired you as my assistant… I have no time to argue,” Alfredo insisted as he shoved the file back to her. For a year, she had been doing this. Acting sour towards him. He left Mexico for like five months, and he just came back. He deserved a break from all the Garcia scandals, especially her.
“I won't, okay,” she said and turned to leave when Alfredo said something which made Sydney come to an abrupt halt. She thought she heard wrong but upon turning around she saw the serious expression on his face, “I'll be paying you weekly…it's a deal and written in the contract…go through it…and tell me what you think,” Alfredo remarked leaning back in his chair. The woman was acting up a while ago, but now there was an expression of interest plastered on her face.
“Do you think…” Sydney was about to get angry when she took the file. The amount he said she would be paid weekly was insanely good.
“I'm opening this branch here…as you can see, we aren't settled in yet… I need a trustworthy assistant to help me out,” Alfredo said as Sydney went through the contract. She wasn't qualified for this. Reading through, she knew he required someone more educated, with a degree or a diploma. She had neither of those. She started university but didn't finish due to some things.
“It's your choice…hate me because of my family name or work for yourself,” Alfredo added, and when Sydney looked up at him…she didn't know what to do. She required a job so desperately, there weren't any opportunities for her, and hence her enemy and the man she has had a crush on since the first time she met him was offering her a sweet deal.
"Fine… I'll take it,” Sydney finally agreed. She could as well work for the enemy and destroy him later. All she had to do was bury the forbidden feelings which resurfaced each time she was in the presence of Alfredo. Everything about him aroused some insane feelings, which meant trouble.
