Chapter 25 Can't have children
Olivia fiddled with her fingers. Her face turned cold as she lay on the narrow hospital bed draped in clean white linens. The room was shining brightly from the artificial chandelier hanging above the ceiling. Glancing around, the fuzzy, warm feeling circling in her stomach caused her to have second thoughts about what she wanted to do.
“Keep calm, Oli…you can do this,” she told herself, closing her eyes briefly. She needed to calm her nerves. This was crucial for her and her future.
“Hello Ms. Gonzalez” the door opened and Olivia's eyes flickered open only to see a beautiful-looking lady who she guessed was the doctor she came to see.
“Hi, Dr.,” she said, returning the same warm smile the Doctor gave her. She was glad It was suggested to the same hospital she was brought to at the time she nearly died. This was frightening, watching the young doctor come back with the various reports she had taken to the lab.
“So shall we, “the lady said as she wore her gloves? Olivia nodded, swallowing the dry lump stuck in her throat.
It was imperative to find out if she was fine and could conceive again. She suffered greatly when Luciano killed her child. She was three months pregnant by then. It had been a year.
“Relax, miss…this won't take long,” the lady said pleasantly. Olivia nodded nervously, fisting the sheets tightly. She would rather not look. The cold jelly the doctor smeared on her belly caused a shiver to run through her body, soothing her completely.
Everything depended on this. Olivia wanted everything to be okay. Losing her child wasn't easy, especially when the father killed it.
After what felt like an hour, Olivia was back in her normal clothes and seated opposite the doctor. Fear washed over her as her stomach twisted.
“Madam…it seems you suffered a miscarriage, “the gynecologist said, flipping through a file. I was hesitant but nodded at her words. I suffered from a miscarriage. It wasn't like that, but the father of the baby killed the child.
“I'm sorry, but you can't have children…” the words left her mouth, shattering me into a million pieces. My body stiffened, I couldn't feel anything. The world around her spun, blurring her vision.
“Madam…madam are you…” the doctor called out to Olivia, unfortunately, she passed out. The gynecologist knew the news was shocking. No woman wanted to hear such news. She understood very well.

Meanwhile, after a long time, Luciano invited his little brother for dinner. Things were good between them. Alfredo was more than happy to sit at the same dining table as Luciano. Solange joined them for dinner, and they talked about random things. Of course, Luciano showed bitterness, especially to his wife. It was understandable. Alfredo saw how uncomfortable the couple were. His older brother never liked his wife because he was forced to marry her and now the woman was suffering.
“So are you finally setting up an office here?” Luciano asked once the brothers settled in the study room. Alfredo sipped on his brandy, nodding as he walked around assessing the design of Luciano's office.
“Yeah…since Mom won't stop sending messages, I decided to grant her wishes” he knew how much his mom was into uniting a family which was scattered a long time ago. Her goal to make everyone dance to her tune wasn't working.
“At least stop being so hostile…this is family…we stick together,” Luciano lecturer. He expected his little brother to understand this more. Alfredo was always the calm one, he never said what was in his heart, and his passion for his work was something no one could take away from him.
“Are we going to keep pretending this family is driven by love and purity?” Alfredo asked, arching his brows at Luciano. Both men settled down. Luciano didn't have words to say. He did so many things, which he had nightmares about every night.
“Are we going to pretend that our family hasn't done anything wrong?” it was simple, he would rather not act like everything was okay. His family was no saint, but the worst. Luciano didn't like the sound of that, especially when coming from his little brother.
“Things happen for a reason…little bro, I'm sure you know that, “Luciano remarked, reminding Alfredo of everything he needed to know about his family.
“Did you love her?” Alfredo asked, staring at his brother without blinking. Luciano knew that question more than anyone. His chest tightened at the mention of a woman who meant the world to him.
“It's best we don't…talk about her” anything that had to do with Olivia he disliked. Such memories he chose to bury in the back of his head.
“You are not happy because despite everything…what you felt for Olivia was real…you loved her truly,” Alfredo fired at Luciano. His brother made so many mistakes, he knew he had choices to stop. Luciano was quiet. Anger boiled within him as Alfredo continued talking.
“You had choices…you don't hurt the one you love brother…no matter the hatred, “Alfredo said, knowing full well Luciano had so many choices. His brother had a different upbringing. Alfredo was aware of the responsibilities weighing on Luciano's head. Since childhood, he always shouldered everyone's affairs. Even now, he wasn't happy.
“Leave” Luciano muttered loud enough for his brother to hear. He hated it when people reminded him of what he had done.
“Just listen to me, damn it!” Alfredo yelled, slamming his hand on the table, Luciano had to listen at least once.
“Get out before I do something we both won't like,” Luciano mumbled through clenched teeth. Alfredo knew when to leave and say anything. His brother was still stubborn. With anger, Alfredo left the study room, banging the door as he closed it. On the way, he met Solange. Of course, the woman must have been eavesdropping.
“Is everything okay?” Solange asked, nervously lowering her gaze from embarrassment.
“Yeah…next time…kindly give us some privacy, “Alfredo said coldly and walked away. This was the main reason he hated coming here. His family was a pain in the neck.
When Alfredo left, Solange remained standing by the study room door. She knew there was a woman involved. But if that one died and her name was Olivia. Who was the new interest?
“Coincidentally, her name is also… Olivia…weird” Solange mumbled to herself as she left from there. She found something fishy about that girl. Moreover, she needed to learn more about that dead girl. “What secrets are they hiding?” she wondered and walked to her son's room. She was only told by her father about her marriage to Luciano. The man agreed and acted all lovey-dovey, however now he was showing his true colors and a woman was involved. Her father knew something dirty about the Garcias, and she was going to find out.
