Chapter 42 Love as a weakness
“How did this happen… who shot my brother!?” Bianca shouted as she tried to force her way into the room Luciano was put in after an operation.
“Stop it now…the doctors said he's too delicate,” Alfredo tried to stop her together with the doctor and nurse.
“He's here I'm certain… he…” Bianca burst out into tears as she fought to get away. This wasn't happening. Her brother was fighting for his life. He was shot twice and the doctors said. One of the bullets hit his vital organ.
“Please calm down, Ms. We are doing everything possible to stabilize him,“ the doctor said when Alfredo held back Bianca. Times were critical. The patient was brought in late after he was shot.
“He lost a lot of blood… we are trying our best to…”
“Just do your f**king job well… if my brother died, I'll make sure you rot in prison!” Bianca shot at the doctor angrily. Her voice was loud and got the attention of other people walking around getting to their destination.
“Sis… calm down okay… let the doctors deal with this,” Alfredo said trying to calm his sister. Bianca was a mess, her face smeared in mascara and mixed with tears.
“Please calm her down. She's disturbing the peace of our delicate patients here. Alfredo nodded and the doctor left. He carefully led Bianca to the private waiting room.
“Here sit,” he muttered, and Bianca sat down. Alfredo handed her his handkerchief to wipe her tears. After a few minutes, Alfredo decided to break the silence.
“He's going to be okay,” he muttered, and Bianca slowly looked up at him. Her eyes had turned red and so was her face.
“What can you do… you are useless Alfredo… you can't even support your family” Bianca said bitterly. Looking at her little brother, she felt nauseous.
“Calm down okay. This isn't the time,” Alfredo said, knowing this wasn't the time to point fingers. Bianca let out a sarcastic laugh. Tossing the cloth away. Her eyes widened angrily.
“You never supported us… my mother is in a bad state… Luciano is fighting for his life… Lia is in jail for something she didn't do,” Bianca said, getting up from the sofa. It wasn't clear to her why Alfredo was hostile towards his family.
“When will you put your family first, Alfredo… or do you care so much about that girl?” Bianca shot at her brother. Her anger was something she couldn't control, that Alfredo saw. Lowering his head. Alfredo reached for the back of his neck. Exhaling a little, he glanced at Bianca.
“The police will have to do this… the person who shot Luciano will rot in prison, “Alfredo remarked. His brother was attacked and shot. It meant someone was trying to harm his family. He was clueless. First, it was his little sister. Then his mom and now Luciano.
“Stop changing the topic… I know what's happening here… you gave that girl a job… are you so stupid, huh… she's trying to hurt us!” Bianca lost it and grabbed Alfredo by the jacket. Fisting his clothes angrily.
“Do you have feelings for that girl… is this why you keep protecting her?”
“Stay away from her… Anyone who hurts her… Will have to answer to me,” Alfredo said coldly. Bianca was utterly lost. Soon her grip on his jacket loosened. For some reason, she found herself retreating. Laughter rolled up her chest and looking at Alfredo she burst out into laughter.
“Do…hahaha… so it's true… you are willing to put that pathetic slut first then your family,” Bianca now understood why her mom always hated Sydney. The fact that she was close to Olivia. Not just that, but Sydney caused her family so much pain in the past.
“I'll see the lawyer now… he has something about Lia's case” saying that Alfredo left the waiting room. Closing the door behind him, he instructed the guards he brought from home to stay alert and left the hospital.
Back in the room, Bianca was fuming in anger. This was happening all because of that dead girl. Olivia and her friend Sydney were responsible for all this.
“She'll pay,” Bianca muttered and looked around for her purse. Thankfully, she found it. With soberness, she took it and dug in to find her phone. With ease, she gripped her phone and dialed a number. Connecting the phone to her ear.
“Hello, Jeff… do what's needed… I want that girl dead now” Bianca gave her orders to the only man who could help her. Sydney was a pain in the neck. Just like Olivia, she managed to trap Alfredo. Recently, Luciano had been acting strange, and the new entry Olivia Gonzalez was responsible for it. Sydney was a distraction to Alfredo…her two brothers were all useless.

“Here… Drink this,” Ira coaxed Olivia to take some warm tea. She was in bad taste… Despite taking a hot shower, she was still shivering. Ira felt bad knowing Olivia was severely punished by Pedro.
“You shouldn't have gone against him, “Ira said when Olivia gulped the black tea. She didn't understand why Olivia was still soft-hearted.
“Sacha is good when you follow his rules…but he can be lethal if you go against him,” Ira added as she watched Olivia. Her skin was pale white. Her lips chapped up. Ira felt sorry for the girl. Spending half a night in that cold room caused her skin to lose its rich color.
“Sometimes I wonder why love makes people weak,” she added, even when she felt she was talking to herself. Olivia was quiet.
“Why did you fall in love with him? Didn't you see he was pretending?” Ira asked questionably. Olivia took one last sip of the hot, tongue-burning tea and held the mug cup in her hands. The warmth from the mug gave her peace. Looking up at Ira. Olivia blinked a few times.
“Love just happens… the heart chooses whom it wants…” Olivia muttered with a lazy smile. Ira was relieved she talked to her.
“You never know when it starts growing… and before you know it… you become a slave to it… you obey the rules of love” Olivia murmured as her gaze lowered. The black tea was a little bitter but did a good job.
“Olivia… why him… of all men” Ira asked, not sure why she could be so foolish as to fall in love with a man she met a few times.
“You wouldn't understand… you've never seen someone who makes your heart skip a beat… seeing the smile of a man who makes you feel like… Like you can be anything,” Olivia smiled faintly, tears lingered in her eyes. Ira was a woman too, but she had never been in love. Her heart was still.
“His words were sweet… coated in candy… his fake concern and care seemed real… I yearned for that… For the warmth, which made me feel like I belonged,” it wasn't clear to her why all the bad things happened. The love she had for Luciano she never felt for any man.
“But you asked someone to kill him?” Ira said, taking away the mug from her.
“He said I couldn't do it,” Olivia muttered when playing with her fingers. She did what Pedro wanted.
“Zane told me… you are the woman who sent those men to shoot Luciano” Ira said and placed the cup on the side table. She was surprised when she heard Luciano was shot twice. However, what shocked her, even more, was knowing Pedro wasn't the one who issued for the kill but Olivia?
“Who… who is that woman… the blonde chick?” Olivia asked while shifting on the bed. Ira got up from the bed and helped Olivia like down comfortably.
“You mean Hannah… how did you know about her?” Ira asked suspiciously. Olivia exhaled, closing her eyes. She was there, in that cold room. Although she was losing consciousness. She saw that blonde woman. She was saying something.
“Who is she?” Olivia asked, and Ira stopped what she was doing.
“Well, she's part of the team,” she replied and continued. She didn't dare tell Olivia who Hannah was, not like she was still with Pedro. However, Hannah didn't seem to like the idea of another woman taking Pedro's attention.
“So…after you recover… we can… Visit the gym and learn a few moves,” ira suggested, and Olivia nodded instantly. She needed some time off, especially when Ira told Olivia that Luciano was in critical condition. She chose not to see Pedro again after what he did to her.
