Chapter 64 Prove herself
“I don't get it?” Olivia said and blinked a few times, shifting her gaze to Pedro. Hannah scoffed and crossed her legs elegantly. Zane knew where this was coming from but chose to keep quiet.
Pedro, on the other hand, had a dark expression.
“It's simple Sacha… she claims to be part of us… why not let her go through the mafia trials and swear loyalty to us,” Hannah said, making her intentions known. She hated the expression on Livia's face.
“It's not needed… Hannah, what's with you,” Gabby said when Pedro kept quiet. Pedro called for an urge to meet. However, Hannah asked Olivia to excuse them because the matter didn't concern someone who wasn't part of the mafia.
“Yes exactly… I don't see why she has to do that when Sacha didn't suggest it,” Ira chimed in and said, glaring at Hannah. The matter had nothing to do with Olivia not being part of the mafia.
“Why are you all answering… it's the boss I asked… I went through the trials despite my family being mafias… Ira, I recall you doing the same thing when Sacha brought you… Zane, you had to go through a series of tests just to be Sacha's right-hand man,” Hannah pointed out what every other person did before they were allowed to be part of the group.
“She's not doing it… it's not necessary,” Pedro said coldly, Hannah was stunned and irritated at the same time. She didn't want Olivia to have it easy.
“That's not fair…she…”
“My decision is final or do you intend to defy my orders,” Pedro cut her off before Hannah could say anything. The cold tone stunned even Olivia, who sat beside Ira…both women exchanged glances.
“Hannah, don't make things complicated here… we have a mission… Olivia is special, so going through all that is pointless” Zane said, shifting his gaze to Hannah. She was starting a fight she knew she wouldn't lose. He had seen through her. She felt threatened by Olivia's presence.
“Why, if I may ask… how do we know she's loyal and can fight… can she even hold a gun…has she killed anyone to prove she's worth it,” Hannah asked each one of them turning to Pedro? He was the leader, he knew any better than to bend the rules all because the woman involved was supposedly his love interest.
“My rules or do you want me to have you punished!” Pedro yelled at Hannah, startling her. But of course, she didn't fear him, he could punish her for all she cared. Pedro needed to make sure his woman was capable, not a weakling.
“Whatever it is, I'll do it,” Olivia agreed to shut the witch up. Every person in the room turned to look at her, and they seemed shocked. Olivia shrugged when Pedro looked at her with a dark expression, “what, you all look like you've seen a ghost…well, if Ms. Hannah here thinks I'm not worthy to be here…why not let me do the so-called trials” Olivia said, shrugging. Yes, she was being sarcastic, Hannah smirked, knowing full well Olivia was dead meat.
“Olivia is not a child's play …it's not us working out in the gym,” Ira said with concern. Whatever Olivia thought the trials were all about, she was mistaken.
“Yes, Ira is right… you can't do this”
“It's insane… let's leave it,” Gabby added too, he had gone through all that and the pain was unbearable. It was something you had to have a heart of rock for. The trials involved one's emotional, physical, and mental state. If one wasn't careful, they would leave the building mentally disturbed or even dead.
“Pedro… let me do this… it seems I have to prove myself to this girl, l,” Olivia said sarcastically, glaring at Hannah.
“You can't… that's final,” Pedro said, shaking his head in denial. “The rules apply to others, not you,” he added.
“I'm not your woman, I'm just like everyone else, so the rules apply to me… to show my loyalty… I want to do this and if you care about my reputation…let me,” she was talking like the woman he promised so many things the previous night. Looking into his eyes, she saw fear. Whatever it was, she wanted to prove herself. Be capable and respected by Hannah once and for all.
“Stop it because I'll get angry,” Pedro muttered, glaring at her to stop it. “You are still delicate… remember what happened in the past… I can't risk it,” he meant what he said, and his decision was final. Olivia suffered a hard fall. It took a year to revive her, and now she was asking for death.
“Pedro just…”
“Get out, all of you!” Pedro yelled angrily when Hannah interrupted him and Olivia. Startled out by their wits. The four people left the study room and closed the door. Olivia's eyes narrowed suspiciously. Why was the man angry so suddenly?
“Pedro…”
“I'm your boss… don't take advantage because I won't spare you,” he shot at her before she could say anything to upset him. Olivia was surprised by his outburst. Was it that serious?
“What are you afraid of, huh… I was killed by my love, and you saved me… I'm sure it won't be that bad,” Olivia said, grinning at him…he didn't look like he was in the mood to joke. However, she couldn't help it.
“This is a different case… the things involved in this are deadly… I don't want you…”
“If I can't even fight or do all this… how sure are you that I'll be able to fight off the Garcias… stop hiding me under your wings and let me fight on my own,” she was done hiding under his wings. Knowing Pedro would come and save the day. It was time she stood her ground and dealt with the enemies around.
“If that woman thinks I'm not worth it… let me show her just what I can do… don't make me lose face to that woman,” she wanted to show Hannah her capabilities. Hannah was part of the mafia. She thought so highly of herself. Olivia wanted to be stronger than Hannah.
“Plus, if I go through all this… I'll make Hannah call me her mother in front of all the mafia men and women,” Olivia added, picturing Hannah kneeling before her.
“Once you start you can't quit because death is the price for quitting… Once I'm there, I won't go easy on you,” Pedro said, trying, certainly, to talk the woman out of the matter. Olivia nodded in agreement.
“Sure…where is it… I can't wait,” Olivia said cheerfully, rendering Pedro speechless.
“Olivia… think about this… you can lose your life. It's crappy and something you wouldn't want,” Pedro tried again, at least she had to put her woman feud aside and see what was at stake here.
“I've made up my mind… Let's do this…that way I'll become the dangerous mafia.
Woman…” Olivia said and sat down. The entire time she had been standing and Pedro sitting behind his desk like some boss.
“I'll call the guys and let them know they have a guest,” Pedro said with an exhalation, he hadn't done this in a long time. The rules were the rules, he thought he would let Olivia be part of the mafia without going through all that.
“So it's not here?” Olivia asked, biting her bottom lip and slamming her fist on the desk, that Pedro jerked back. Why was she excited about this? She knew any better than to do this.
“It's somewhere more befitting…just know you won't be dealing with kind-hearted people…there's more to our mafia world than what's on the surface,” he only made her meet part of the mafia. The deeper one wasn't her cup of tea.
He had lethal men operating underground. “So when do we leave… I'm so happy” Olivia said cheerfully and stormed out of the study room. Pedro sat there thinking to himself.
Soon the door opened and Zane walked in.
“Hey, boss. So I see you agreed…hehehe now this is interesting,” Zane said and walked to the cellar and took out something strong for his boss. Pedro looked like he was about to punch a hole through someone.
“Here boss… cool off now,” Zane handed him a glass of whiskey and sat down.
“Tell Jo to make this light. I don't want her hurt,” Pedro muttered and took a sip of his drink. The smoky, malty taste soothed his throat with its deep complexity.
“You do know Jo never lets anyone off the hook? The lady is just one of those women trying to survive… and if they learn who she is to you. Jo will make this harder and more dangerous,” Zane said in between sips. Pedro had protected Olivia this much, but he had to accept this and let the woman stand on her own.
"I'll kill all of you if anything happens to her… I don't fucking care what you do…I want her safe and sound"Pedro warned slamming the glass angrily on the table.
"The good news is that you'll have a chance to have a taste," Zane chuckled shrewdly, the last stage of being welcomed in the mafia for a woman was to give herself to the boss. It was a way of saying you are nothing but the boss's slave. He could do away with you as he wanted. In the past Pedro never did that but it was part of the trials. Mainly he would ask Jo or Gabby to sleep with them. Zane also had a fair share of women.
