Mouthwatering Scent
Shawn Louis
Meanwhile, Shawn was in the backyard sniffing around. Aubrianne was lounging by the pool and watching him as she waited for Daniel and Tobias's arrival, assuming he was trying to see if Ron had also been in her home.
Checking the perimeter for any lingering or strong scents.
'Goddess, where was this scent coming from?' Shawn was going crazy. This was the second time he smelt the most amazingly alluring, tantalizing scent he had ever smelt.
It was like fields of flowers and roses mixed in with spring water. The first time he smelt such a fantastic smell was on Monday morning. He was in his room going through some paperwork he had brought with him when he and John were investigating Ron's whereabouts.
His trail had gone cold. Well, now he knew why. It was because Ron was no longer in Clifton Hill. Nevertheless, it was when Aubrianne had poked her head in and bid him farewell, and she left saying, 'Happy hunting.'
However, when Aubrianne opened her front door, a scent wafted in and flowed through the house, but the crew had left for the day by the time it reached Shawn's guest room.
On Tuesday, he was away from the house as he had followed some leads, came in mid-day, and was out of the house again. Wednesday morning, he slept in as he had been going nonstop since Monday and needed to rest before returning to those leads.
As some leads led to more tips, and on Thursday morning, he left the house at six am.
Now, on this Thursday evening, Aubrianne had just come home from work, and there was that smell again. Where was this scent coming from?
Now that he was paying closer attention and focused on this particular mouthwatering scent, Roman said, 'Mate.' But who? Where?
'Find mate now,' Roman chanted.
Shawn sniffed around the backyard, over the fence, on one side of the house. Trying to locate the source of the scent.
Soon Shawn sensed Daniel's and Timothy's arrival, and he knew they would be coming in the back here to work out, so he decided to continue his search in front of the house.
Maybe he could walk down the street and see if he picked up something, briefly putting investigating Ron aside.
Shawn was a reserved and private man; he did not want to rush Aubrianne and ask questions about this when he could figure it out himself.
However, there was one question he wanted to ask, 'who was with her on Monday morning and this afternoon when she came home?'
But Shawn was knocked out of his thoughts when, "Hey Aubri, I thought I would join you...''
Brody and Kirrah had just walked in. Before Kirrah could finish her sentence, 'Mate,' her wolf, Hunter, shouted in her head, 'mate, mate, mate, so handsome, so buff, mate, mate.' Hunter purred in delight, wagging her tail side to side.
Kirrah herself remained frozen; Goddess, was this happening? Did she find her mate? Her other half?
When Hunter realized her human was not moving, 'go to him,' she urged, 'go to him now.' Hunter's voice came out in a squeak, as she was that excited at this point in time.
While Shawn, on the other hand, was unsure what to do next, he watched and observed his mate while Roman excitedly and frantically urged him to go to mate.
Meanwhile, Daniel, Aubrianne, Tobias, and poor Brody knew exactly what was happening.
Daniel, Aubrianne, and Tobias were amazed and thrilled. They continued to watch the pair, Aubrianne beaming as this was the first time she had actually witnessed something like that.
She had envisioned meeting her mate and how it would go down so many times.
This was gold to her; she was getting a front-row seat of a mated pair meeting for the first time. Her Shawnee bear- warrior wolf fated to be by her side and her Head Bodyguard. How fitting she thought it was such a perfect match.
Given her short time with Kirrah and knowing her, Shawnee, Aubrianne thought the Goddess knew what she was doing in this case. Because when she thinks of her father's marriage, it worries her.
Knowing that someone could have a mate and love another so profoundly was a tough pill for Aubrianne to swallow.
She did not know the details, but her father retelling of his time with her mother and what her mom said in her diary, the one Aubrianne was reading.
Aubrianne realized her mother and father had a great love. A love that she hoped to experience one day.
She could sense her father's marriage was strained; she simply did not know the reason and did not want to make any assumptions.
But one thing Aubriane knew for sure was that her father was still in love with her mother and never truly moved on.
That fact scared Aubrianne to death; what if her mate had a great love like that? Would she then be a desperate Christen on the sidelines?
No way!
Aubrianne had observed so much at her father's home on Monday and combined it with the dinner. She knew Christen was hurting inside. But again, she did not know the details.
Leia had told her it would not happen like that for them; their mate loved them, 'Our mate loves us, and he would come find us.' Were Leia's exact words. But that did little to ease Aubrianne's worries, so Leia went on to explain.
When Leia had said their mate would come for them, Aubrianne recalled Leia saying this bit to her already, so she'd rolled her eyes.
But, Leia continued, a white wolf reveals itself to their mate, only the wolf; he never gets to gaze upon the human.
The mate is then triggered with a need to find and locate this white wolf; the only thing is they never know where to start.
However, we don't have to worry about that because the Divine Moon Goddess always has a way of setting paths to cross at one point or another.
Sometimes later rather than sooner, as some divert from their path occasionally, but they do get back on track. Eventually!
The last part is for all mates; they all have paths to cross, designed by the Moon Goddess, ensuring her creation will meet at one point or another.
But, there was always that choice of one deviating, which, sadly, sometimes leads to them never meeting in this lifetime.
Nevertheless, Aubrianne was still concerned because so much could go wrong with that plan. It could be years before they finally meet if one were to deviate from their path.
She was worried.
Now this scene right here was everything for Aubrianne at this moment, though, and she hoped her mate would love and accept her; when a dangerous growl snapped her out of her mind, she whipped her head to the source.
Brody decided that this was the best time to whisper in Kirrah's ear, asking if she was ok; no, she was not ok; back off, dude. Aubrianne upsettingly thought.
Not wanting anything to ruin this moment for her. However, Kirrah's response pleased her and Shawn.
Shawn more so when Kirrah shot Brody a dangerous look and ducked away from him and stepped toward Shawn, he took a step toward her, and they kept doing that until they were face to chest in Aubrianne's backyard.
Kirrah looked up and into Shawn's gorgeous grey eyes as she said, "My mate." In response, Shawn touched her cheek with the back of his hand and smiled down at her, then said, "Yes, your mate!"
He loved that she claimed him, even if those words were as simple as, 'My Mate.'
Kirrah did not dwell on what Brody did too much, but she was upset that he would dare do something like that when she decided to have the conversation with him just Saturday.
Kirrah made it clear that she was all for her mate, and if she did meet her mate, he would need to give her the space she needed.
She finally agreed to give Brody a chance to get to know him a little better at first. Then she would decide if she would pursue anything with him.
Now here he was whispering, asking if she was ok, 'How the f*ck was that giving her space?'
Nevertheless, she did not let him ruin the mood as she claimed her mate. One thing Kirrah realized off the bat was no one had ever elicited such feelings from her.
"Shawn," he whispered in her ear, and Kirrah wanted to attack him right then and there when his hot breath fanned her neck, and her pores stood on end. "Kirrah,'' she breathlessly responded, looking up at him with her cheeks tinted red with blush.
