No Scholar
Aubrianne Ivanov
Aubrianne eyed Daniel as his eyes instantly narrowed. He was no scholar when it came to the history of the white wolves, but nowhere did he ever come across anything like that.
And such information will be talked about.
It would have been known. It would have been one of the first things you heard when someone spoke about a white wolf, well maybe the second.
The first would have been the most extended list of ideas and plans they greedily made in hopes of catching one. Then the next thing would have been the downsides and the fact that there were basically none. This would undoubtedly have stuck out like a sore thumb.
That was crucial information. Why would Aubrianne say this? Why would she say such a thing? How could she know this?
Aubrianne took a sip of red wine and continued observing Daniel. That's when she saw the moment Daniel's facial features went from total despair to suspicion. However, she was prepared for this. Aubrianne and Jada had practiced this.
Because Aubrianne did not want to sit through the ordeal of this conversation explaining things verbally, she opted for telepathy, a visual one.
Aubrianne expressed things from Leia's point of view and wanted Daniel to see all perspectives --Leia's, and through Leia's views, he would see her reactions and hear her reactive questions.
Aubrianne did not wait for him to raise a question. She stopped eating, gently laid down her knife and fork, and closed her eyes as Daniel observed her suspiciously, yet he could not keep the curiosity from creeping in and taking root.
Aubrianne slowly inhaled and exhaled, cleared her mind, and thought of the scene where she and Leia talked about their situation and mate. She focused with all her might.
Then she impressed upon his mind the memory of that entire conversation between her and Leia.
And why did the Divine Moon Goddess do what she did initially. Changing one specific thing where now the person that bites her with intent to mark her dies a horrible death.
The mark does not form.
As Daniel watched the entire scene replay in his mind as if he was there in person, his eyes bulged, a reaction to some of the information or the confirmation of what Aubrianne said. The answer he was seeking.
Aubrianne projected everything, from the Goddess's decision and why to precisely what happens when she mates with her mate, the one destined and created just for her.
She also shared what would happen to her power and strength when she finally mates. Aubrianne wanted him, and, more so, she needed Cassius to understand that there was no version of this where the end result would be that they end up together.
Nevertheless, Aubrianne eagerly got down in her meal. She thought it tasted delicious and juicy. Everything was well seasoned and marinated.
The different spiced sauces added to the outburst of delectable flavors that caressed her tongue, making sweet, sweet love.
Aubrianne glanced at Daniel and watched him come to terms with everything. At least, she hoped its what he was doing.
And just like that, Daniel's hope for the night turned into complete despair.
Only despair, nothing else.
His mouth had opened and closed about six times. His mind replayed that one particular scene of confirmation over and over.
He knew there were no lies. He sensed no lies from Aubrianne or Leia. Cassius also felt they spoke the truth, and he was not saying a word, probably trying to think about it and coming up with ways to get around this minor hurdle.
He quickly disappeared into Daniel's mind. Daniel sensed one thing from his wolf, determination, and when he tried reaching Cassius, he was ignored.
Daniel tried to gather himself, briefly distracted, wondering what his wolf could possibly be determined about after hearing this.
And after another moment, he cleared his throat and finally spoke.
"I...I don't know what to say." Daniel really didn't. Should he even mention to her what he wanted to discuss with her? Does it even make sense at this point? Or should he just bypass everything and ignore the elephant at the waterfall as they enjoy this meal and then a swim?
For a few seconds, Aubrianne said nothing; she simply watched him as she wondered if Daniel would still come out and say what he wanted to tell her or if they could ignore it and simply enjoy this delicious meal and go for a swim.
Truth be told, Aubrianne was hoping for the latter. She saw no need for him to bring it up IF his intentions were along the lines of what Leia suspected.
If not, only then would she like to know what he wanted to discuss with her. But by the look on his face, she knew it was precisely like Leia suspected, and she understood he was hopefully taking the time to come to terms.
"I get it," Aubrianne finally spoke, hoping to ease things back to this dinner and experience. "You ok?" She then asked, and Daniel shrugged in response.
No, he was not alright! Daniel sighed, "Honestly..." Oh boy, Aubiranne immediately thought here we go. She braced herself.
"I," Daniel shook his head and laughed. It was a light-hearted laugh. "If you only knew." He cleared his throat after his laughter died and then spoke.
"Well, why don't you tell me?" Aubrianne coaxed; uhh, on second thought, he might as well just get it out so they can truly put this behind them. She was down to her last few mouthfuls and on her second glass of wine.
Daniel smiled, but it did not reach his ear; his jaw ticked, and after staring at her for a good forty-eight seconds without saying anything, he said, "Ok, sure, why not?"
Then Daniel began to eat his meal while he relayed to Aubrianne how he truly felt about her, and he wanted to be by her side forever, not just as her Beta but as her chosen mate.
Daniel chose this moment to eat, to take away from the seriousness of the matter. This was a confession of love to Aubrianne, the woman he loved with everything in him.
That's how he felt. So he casually ate while he casually spoke.
And Aubrianne simply listened while her heart broke for Daniel. Soon, she finished her meal and occasionally sipped her red wine. Daniel only took his eyes off her to look at his plate; he stared into her soul as he confessed his love and intended intentions.
At the back of his mind, still foolishly hoping Aubrianne would say, let's run away together. But Daniel knew, and as her Beta, he would encourage her to be with her mate because he would want her to reach her full potential and become stronger.
And if that means her mate is the one that can give her that, then he could not stand in her way.
His love for Aubrianne was not selfish. Yes, he was hoping she had somehow miraculously decided to give him a chance, but he was also prepared to stay by her side as her Beta only if that was what she wanted.
Because at the end of the day, once Aubrianne was happy, he was delighted. Her happiness was all that mattered to him, even though he wished he could have been the one to bring her said joy and happiness.
"Oh, Daniel, I am so sorry," Aubrianne listened to Daniel, and hearing it from him out loud tore her heart to pieces. She wished she could have comforted him the way he wanted.
Then in the back of her mind, she thought, why not? But she pushed it away.
Aubrianne now understood things from his point of view. She could see that his spirits were crushed, and she felt terrible. At that moment, she felt horrible.
Instead of waiting for him to come to her with his confession, she should have been the one to come out and tell him. Not as a person assuming things but as Alpha to her Beta, simply informing her Beta about the developments in her life.
Simply an Alpha filling her Beta in on what her wolf shared with her, she felt stupid seeing Daniel's hurt. How could she not have seen this? Or maybe she did and chose to ignore it.
She felt that if she had told him sooner, just maybe, he might not have entertained this idea for an entire week and had it take root and grow with the water he sprinkles on it whenever he thinks of being with her.
Yes, Aubrianne knew she did not want to say anything on Friday at dinner, not wanting to dampen the mood, but she could have done it the very next day, Saturday, right after dinner.
He would have been better all now; all she did was prolong the inevitable.
And now, her actions might lead to her losing Daniel, and Aubrianne could not bear the thought.
