Nostalgic
Timothy Thornton
Timothy spoke to his mother as if his plan could save the starving.
However, at what Timothy said, Christen perked up, an eyebrow rose, and eyes blazed with curiosity about where this was going. She stopped her fussings in front of the mirror and listened.
Realizing that he had gotten his mother's attention, Timothy explained that if she wanted to get a divorce, she could do so. Thinking about his parent's relationship, he felt like it should not come as a surprise to his father if his mother suddenly one day decided to get a divorce.
There were no red flags to raise. So, Timothy believed his mother could smoothly get a divorce, and he was confident his father would ensure she would be cared for, for life.
Then, whispered that when she was far away, maybe after a month or two, she could destroy the evidence. Timothy had pointed to the side of the manor in question.
Or if she planned on visiting, she kept it around to keep up the ruse of the mate bond. The more he thought of that, he advised her in the end not to destroy it.
Nevertheless, Christen, his mother, would be divorced with a handsome settlement, and his father would never find out the truth, which meant he would still be welcome, and he would choose to stay with his father and visit his mother.
Timothy felt proud of his masterful thinking, and by his mother's reaction to what he had just said, he believed she felt the same way about his plan because, suddenly, the color started returning to his mother's face.
Aubrianne Ivanov
Even Christen had taken Aubrianne up on her invite at the last minute, and Aubrianne was happy. She decided to join.
The five of them had shut down the salon as they all got pampered simultaneously, allowing them privacy while they got everything done.
They were treated as VIPs in the salon, as hors d'oeuvres and champagne were provided for them to indulge themselves; there were also waterpipes for smoking, complete with hose and everything.
They were all relaxed and chatted freely and openly, yet everyone hid their secrets.
As Jada and Daniela get along, all the while, Jada hides the fact that she is screwing Daniela's father.
Christen, well, we all know what Christen's hiding, Aubrianne, is still hiding the truth about Ron from everyone at the spa except for Jada and, recently, Kirrah.
And yet Kirrah still did not know the whole truth, so there was that also. And as for Kirrah's secrets, she was taking them to the grave.
However, the ladies chatted and laughed with each other. The topic of mates was a hot one when Daniela brought it up.
Daniela spoke of potentially meeting her mate, the idea of it, but she was in no rush. She might be the one that ran in the other direction rather than seek out the allure.
While Jada and Christen wondered if they even had one out there.
Jada told the girls she had wondered if she had a mate, but she did not know. She went on to explain that Witches have mates, but they so rarely meet them. It's like a myth.
If she had not witnessed it with her parents, she might have doubted its existence.
On the other hand, Christen had mused about the topic to herself; of course, she was not about to openly gush over the idea of meeting her mate and truly experiencing that magical, earth-shattering, all-consuming feeling.
No, instead, she had played her role in the matter and, in doing so, mocked the Divine Moon Goddess.
Christen needed to act her part in this, saying that a mate was a gift from the Divine Moon Goddess herself, handpicked for her children, yet to her, it was not all that it was cracked up to be.
And, of course, everyone sympathized with her, as if hearing it for the first time. Which for most was the truth, but that did not mean they did not observe things.
The dinner alone was an example enough!
However, Jada knew from her bestie Aubrianne, and Daniela and Kirrah had picked up on things.
Though they did not know the details, they guessed it was not a happy were-mateship.
And Aubrianne thought of helping Christen by taking her pain over the situation away, but it did not make sense if she continued to stay in that situation.
While Kirrah had gushed about her earth-shaking, the paramount amount of emotions that attacked her body rendered her unable to move for a minute.
She had gushed about the love, care, protectiveness, possessiveness, and wholeness her body felt in Shawn's presence.
While Aubrianne secretly hoped and wished for this Divine Moon Goddess, their creator. Aubrianne had spent some time learning about her creator and the beliefs of magical beings, as she is a supernatural being, no doubt.
So she hoped and prayed that her meeting would be similar to that of Kirrah's and Shawn's. Just hearing about it again and recalling being there and witnessing it suddenly had her feeling nostalgic.
When suddenly, the topic changed back to tomorrow's event, and Aubrianne gushed about her father's invite and the effort he put into it. She felt like she would want an invitation to her party as well.
But knowing Theo, he had told her this did not begin to scratch the surface of his surprise for her.
And Aubrianne had felt like this welcoming party was enough. He did not need to try to make up for those years he missed in one night.
Nevertheless, recalling her invite, Daniela had rattled out her invitation gifts. "A wine subscription card, wine preservation system, a gift card for a spa day, an air purifier, a breakout set, temperature control ceramic mugs, and gym membership for one year."
Daniela counted on her fingers, looking up in the air, a bright, cute smile on her face, eyes staring off in wonder.
Then she randomly thought of the many people that would be there tomorrow. This was a Grand Affair, after all.
"Well, Jada, chances are you, and I might meet our mate tomorrow," Then her eyes slid to Aubrianne, "Hey, chin up, maybe even you. With the number of people there tomorrow, I am sure at least one of us might"
"Dad said delegates from other nations were flying in, Alphas from all over the world and selected members of their communities. Every time Alpha Thornton throws one of these, a handful of the community members always meet their mates."
Aubrianne shrugged. She knew this to be true. Tobias had explained that his first time witnessing this was in his community when they had visitors.
She does not want to get her hopes up or simply does not want to be disappointed when she doesn't meet her mate.
However, Aubrianne had plastered the sweetest smile she could muster at the moment. And Daniela continued to beam at her.
Nevertheless, the girls had a fun evening, relaxing and discussing everything. It was an excellent pass time, Aubrianne thought.
Soon Shawn picked up Kirrah, Daniel picked up Aubrianne and Christen, and Jada went back to the manor; Jada would sneak out to meet Ivan somewhere.
On the car ride home, Aubrianne was awfully quiet, and Daniel did not like it as he wondered what was going on in her head. He had to admit he was always nervous about the time when she would not want to continue this.
Whatever this was.
And so, every time she got like this, he would always instantly assume the worst, but every time thus far, it was not something to do with him.
Daniel decided to let it go and not enquire about her mood but simply ask if she was ok.
While Aubrianne simply was not in the mood, she and Daniel were to spend the night together, and he would return her in time for her preparation.
She had actually preferred it that way, being away from all the hustle and bustle of things.
And yet, right now, she preferred to be around the hustle and bustle rather than spending the night with Daniel and having him please her.
She was not in the mood to be touched by him or to even be close to him, unable to shake her nostalgic feelings.
So when Daniel asked Aubrianne if she was ok, she had simply told him that she wanted to cancel their plans for tonight and she would stay at the manor.
