The process of Revitalization
Aubrianne looked at Zayne, flabbergasted, eyes wide, cheeks getting redder. 'Oh goodness, I could walk and greet his people. Don't tell me he plans to walk around with me like this.' She frantically thought, almost panicked.
This is definitely not how Aubrianne imagined meeting Zayne's people. Plus, she wanted to properly acknowledge Mekhi and talk to him.
Aubrianne leaned in and whispered, "Baby, please, I can walk." As soon as the words left her lips, she felt his hands tighten again.
Zayne had missed Aubrianne with every fiber of his being; he had gone through sleepless nights. The little time they had together was cut too short.
He'd longed to have her in his arms again, and now that she was there, he struggled to let her go.
It was a battle, as both he and Aragorn felt the same. None could help the other; let go.
Aubrianne gazed desperately into his beautiful blue eyes, wrapped her hands around his neck, and said, "Baby, please, let me talk to Mekhi and meet the others." she gestured to the gathering crowd behind them.
It was no longer just the few that were there when they had arrived. More and more community members gathered around excited as the minutes ticked by.
They were witnessing something most precious. They caught this special moment between their Alpha and his mate.
Zayne closed the distance between their lips and kissed Aubrianne hungrily and greedily, then he said, "Then you are back in my arms. Ok?"
Aubrianne's brown eyes frantically searched her mate's. Goodness, he was serious. She smiled tenderly at him and kissed his lips again.
Meanwhile, Mekhi was losing his mind waiting for these two to just quit for two seconds so he could hear about HIS mate.
Aubrianne moved again, hinting she wanted to stand, and Zayne reluctantly obliged.
Settling on her own two feet, Aubrianne straightened to her full height, subtly releasing some of the power she was holding back, exerting strength as she looked up at Mekhi and extended her hand, "Hi Mekhi, I am Aubrianne Ivanov, and it is a pleasure to meet you."
Her voice was sure and confident, she held his gaze, and Mekhi reached out and shook her hand. However, there was one thing that he wanted to address first before moving forward.
"The pleasure is all mine, Luna." He tips his head slightly in respect.
"Now, please," he stressed with a hand over his chest, head dipped, "can you tell me about the scent that is all over you? Who is it? As you can imagine, my readiness to find out." Mekhi spoke.
He hoped he did not come off as clipped, as if he was complaining, but his patience was waning.
Throughout Mekhi's upbringing, he was always laid back, calm, and collected.
His peers would describe him as a 'cool' and down-to-earth person. One might say, 'he's a cool guy, with real chill vibes and easygoing.'
Mekhi was the one that always brought reason to Zayne when Zayne started heading off the rails; he also knew when to let him be.
Mekhi would be considered a patient man; hell, he'd been waiting years for Sacha.
However, it seemed suddenly, he was the most impatient wolf to walk this earth as he was dying to get the deets.
If both of Mekhi's feet worked, he would have been pacing circles around them, but he settled for fidgeting with the hem of his jersey and shifting his crotches as he calmed his racing, impatient heart.
"Yes, I do," Aubrianne's smile reached her eyes, letting go of his hands, then moved hers up as a visor staring up at Mekhi. The sun was in her eyes.
"Her name is Jada, and she is my best friend and..."
"Witch Protector." Mekhi finished for her, his voice in awe, "Jada," the name rolled off his tongue as if meant to be spoken from his lips ONLY.
And his heart dropped at recalling Zayne's words about a vibe between HIS MATE and another wolf. Sampson was suddenly at the surface.
"And where is she?" Mekhi tried to sound as calm and relaxed as possible. Even though he was panicking on the inside, he was going crazy wondering if she was currently with HIM.
Goddess, the thought, it was too much. He suddenly wished Zayne had never told him about Aubrianne's friend, and because she was NOT there, he needed to know WHERE she was at that instant.
He could not breathe. Suddenly, the air was too thick and could not reach his lungs.
He worked on his breathing while simultaneously calming Sampson's wrath and turmoil.
Maybe she was running late due to a family emergency or work obligations. That must be it, Mekhi convinced himself. He was getting ahead of himself.
However, he realized his failure as Aubrianne slightly flinched. However, Aubrianne flinched at his question. Not at Mekhi's eagerness to know his mate's whereabouts.
But it was the question she dreaded the moment she realized Jada was Mekhi's mate because Aubrianne knew exactly WHERE Jada was, well, at least WHO she was with.
"Oh, Mekhi," Aubrianne reached for his hand and took it into hers. It was automatic. She felt the need to comfort him while she ripped his heart out.
Sensing Aubrianne's uneasiness through the mate bond, Zayne's hand automatically reached to touch her lower back while Shawn, sensing her uneasiness through their connection, had already moved to her side and said.
"Jada is currently with a friend." Taking the words out of Aubrianne's mouth, saving her.
Mekhi's eyebrows dart up in question and shut to Shawn as Sampson drawls, "A Friennndd?"
However, knowing Jada, Shawn said, "Dude, it's not that serious, don't worry about it." He cautiously patted and gently squeezed Mekhi's shoulder and back.
Trying to bring reassurance and save Aubrianne from indirectly throwing Jada under the bus, he continued, "So calm down. Besides, can you say you haven't messed around?"
Shawn wanted to defuse this quickly, and the best way he knew how to do that was to shine some light on oneself.
At that instant, it was Mekhi. While he was so busy up in his feelings about Jada's whereabouts, could he say he was innocent? When he was still hung up on Sacha right up until he scented his mate.
And suddenly, Sacha was distant to him, and he flinched at the memory of fileting Sacha's saucy heat. Then there was his night with Mira.
These were recent events, but rage suddenly built at the thought of the same being done to his mate and more. RIGHT NOW, he assumed.
Mekhi could not be here anymore, he needed to run, but he couldn't.
"Got it, men." He spoke, unsure how he could form two words, let alone three, and he abruptly turned on his crotches and stormed off, more like hopped off quickly.
Aubrianne needed to know where her friend stood but did not want to start things off as a lying Luna.
"I will check in on her, ok..." Aubrianne called after him, but Mekhi kept hopping along, heading straight inside the community house, up to his floor, and straight to his room.
Aubrianne's eyes slid to her mate's and then over to Shawn, "Thank you." And Shawn simply squeezed her shoulders, then her eyes slid back to her mate, and he reached his arm around her, giving her a side hug, "he will be fine; it's not like he is a virgin."
Zayne reassured her, then said, "Come, let's meet the rest."
Though Aubrianne was itching to grab her phone and call Jada, they had been there a while. They were bordering on bad manners, even crossed it.
After the meet and greet, she would contact Jada when she had a moment alone. Plus, Jada was probably still in the air. Who knows where Ivan was taking her?
The three now approached the group, eagerly waiting. Some community members were here, primarily those surrounding the pack house, including Leandra, Sylvie, and David.
Leandra had stared at the pair since they were eating each other's faces off, the possessiveness she witnessed Zayne display, the look in his eyes, the way he gazed at his mate.
Zayne was nothing like that with Leandra.
He did none of those things, and she realized she had only been fooling herself even to think that something more could have developed.
Plus, she could not deny Aubrianne was a beauty. And seemed sweet by that little display with Mekhi, whatever that was. Leandra had snuck out as she saw them approaching.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, the moment Aubrianne arrives at Ragnuff's moon crescent community, unbeknownst to everyone, Jane Doe's magic starts sparking.
Then soon, the magic in and around her came alive. It ignited magnificently, as if sensing familiarity close by, as it danced vigorously around its host.
As if sensing more of the remnants of her magic close by. A light blue, almost white hue jigged around her beautifully. And soon, it was like the process of revitalization had begun.
