Feral Wolf
Alpha Zayne Steele POV.

By this time, it was four forty-five am. We should be back by six am, earlier if we make haste.
Arriving back at the compound, the vehicles pulled up, and I immediately gave out orders, first for the Warrior, "take him to the infirmary and get the witch. Tell her what happened. She will know what supplies are needed."
It is known that we cannot survive a bite, but the witches can make a potion to help us be as pain-free and comfortable as the infection spreads through our bodies, killing us slowly.
We don't suffer anymore, but only those of us who have access to such a potion...
I continued dishing out my orders, "Get the prisoners to the dungeon, and then we'll meet in the situation room in an hour. I want an account of everything that happened on each floor of that building."
"Yes, Alpha!" there were answers and nods between them. They were all in agreement.
I thank my Elite warrior task force for sticking with me on yet another mission, as not everyone would want to join this fight, and I can understand if any of them decide that this is too much.
In my eyes, and as far as I am concerned, they are all robust and adept wolves who train every other day, and I am thankful and grateful for every single one of them.
They were true warriors and ready to defend for a higher purpose.
They all look at me full of respect, some saying, 'don't mention it, Alpha,' some saying, 'it's nothing,' or 'we have your back always, Alpha,' and 'we are with you to the very end.'
I nod. Aragorn gives a growl of approval and pleasure, then a team springs into action to complete my earlier request.
I needed an account of everything that happened, but I needed a run more. Turning my attention to the rescues, I welcome them, giving my speech and informing them that they are free to stay or leave to find loved ones and family.
We can assist if they need resources to reach out and get there.
I then summon my Gamma Trent, introducing him and letting the rescues know he will take them to a safe place where they can rest and regroup.
As I looked at them closely, searching their faces, some looked relieved, some skeptical, a few looked wary, and the others looked outright scared.
I looked at each of them, trying to relay it with my eyes, giving my best caring look and reassuring them. I reassure them they are safe here and no one is being held against their will. They are free to walk away right now.
Most visibly relaxed and I nodded at Trent. He quickly steps up as I turn and head straight for the forest.
Trent says, "This way, folks, let's get you settled in. Those of you who are hungry, please follow David here"—He gestured for David to come forward.
David is another member of my community who works in the kitchen—" and those of you who would like to rest, please follow me." Trent had finished.
As I walked away, Aragorn came to the surface, and as we cleared the tree line. I quickly stripped, and soon I was standing in my wolf form on all four deadly paws. Aragorn shook out his black fur, as black as the darkest night.
Then, he darted off full speed ahead into the forest, going deeper and deeper. Aragorn ran and ran. He howled and growled. He bit at the air and tried ripping that creature's head straight off, the one that bit his warrior.
Zipping past trees, feeling the earth beneath our paws, Aragorn and I are so furious. Another loss. We ran past all the trees and bushy areas. Seeing all the greens on branches we dodged, we tried to outrun this.
We tried to outrun everything!
The forest and all the different colors of flowers that sprung from vines that snaked up the tree from the tree trunks all blurred together through Aragorn's peripheral vision.
Jumping over fallen trees, getting whipped by tree branches as Aragorn dodges, bob, and weaves through the forest, we push ourselves, going even further into the forest's depths.
Aragorn and I both needed this. We ran and ran some more..... Slowing down, we stopped at a small clearing leading out to a cliff. Aragorn howls and howls for our fallen pack member and warrior.
Then we just sat there for a moment as we breathed in the forest and the scent around us and thought of the positives from the mission, trying to give ourselves a pep talk.
We have a few of them to question, a name to look into, a USB drive to crack, and a hard drive to get into. My IT team will be able to get in. I am sure it's encrypted.
"I hate this," Aragorn spoke in my mind. We are connected.
"I know, we both are. It hurts." I said.
Nevertheless, we laid back on my belly, wanting five more minutes of this quiet, when.. snap!
A twig had snapped. Instantly, we stood on all fours, high alert, ears perked up as we glanced around and sniffed the air. Both Aragorn and I were entirely tuned in.
'Feral Wolf' lips pulled back and canine-like teeth bare, Aragorn lets out a vicious growl of warning.
Lowering in an attack position, readying to pounce, Aragorn growled another warning before darting off suddenly at full speed towards the scent.
Soon we heard paws scampering away; we gave chase, Aragorn, over the moon for this opportunity to rip something apart. He growls and howls in anticipation. "This will do," he grumbles.
A Feral Wolf was trespassing. You cannot allow them to get into your community. They are to be killed on the spot. They are mindless, and that makes them deadly.
Soon we caught up with a dirty brown wolf heading towards the border as if that would stop us. Aragorn growled thunderously as we pushed forward.
We continued our advance at full speed, and when Aragorn deemed he was close enough, he launched himself in the air and dove straight on top of the wolf's back, pushing him to the ground.
We landed harshly, but I landed on top of the 'Feral Wolf' with all my weight, and I immediately trapped his head between my two huge paws and wasted no time sinking my sharp and pointy canine teeth into his neck.
We held onto the Feral Wolf in a death grip, clamping down our canine teeth hard. Warm crimson spurts out of the wound my canine made. One move, and it was over.
When a heavy body slammed into me, I went flying, and a chunk of the dirty brown wolf's flesh and fur went with me. Clamped in my mouth.
Aragorn slammed to the ground, righted, and spat the patch out. Looking at our attacker, we saw It was a dark grey wolf, more prominent in size than the other we had just taken down.
Sniffing, we knew right away we were dealing with another feral wolf.
Aragorn stalks his prey, "and we have another," he comments, as he relishes in anticipation of ending this mindless beast. He lets out a low menacing growl, snaps, and flashes his large sharp canine teeth in a lingering snarl.
Without warning, Aragorn darted towards him, and right before we reached the feral wolf, he ran out of the way. We turn, snap at him and charge again.
Aragorn ran straight to him this time, but when we almost reached the feral wolf, and he went to try and toy with us again, we banked left, then pivoted.
He ran straight into my wolf's large, waiting, and ready, mouth wide open. I clamped right down on his face, puncturing an eye socket.
I pulled sharp and hard, and crimson began to gush even more.
Red stained the forest bed, I launched again and clamped down on his neck, and I yanked away from him, tearing a good portion of his neck and throat, separating it from his body.
That drained the life out of the 'Feral Wolf.' It gushed red, oozing like a burst pipe, then slowed until there was none.
He lay lifeless, and, yes, so was the other wolf. He was also lifeless.
Aragorn did not feel satisfied; he thought it was no fun. He should have toyed with him more, delaying the kill. That did not do anything for his pent-up anger.
Nevertheless, the job was done; after scanning and sniffing for any more intruders, I shifted and opened my mind link, ordering the removal of the bodies and giving them their location.
Then I ordered some patrol wolves to do a full scan of the perimeter to ensure these two fools did not have company. Though feral wolves don't move in packs or even two being together. They are always alone.
With that, I headed back to the grounds at full pace. I decided to take a quick wash-off before heading to the situation room.
