Bitten

I would prefer to go outside as I am not looking to make things difficult or uncomfortable for my mate in any way. "Hello, Sacha," I answered, tired and slightly annoyed.
Smiling up at me, "would you like some company to grab a bite to eat?" She asks with such hopeful eyes, eyelashes blinking up at me expectantly.
I sighed, as I was hungry but not in the mood for company. After my meal, I had more phone calls to make to rally some troops. I have some spots to fill, because of men lost, so no, I don't want company.
I sighed again, rubbing my temples, "no, Sacha, I am quite alright. Too much to do. I will just grab something quick from the kitchen that Sylvia prepared, and I will head....."
"I can help you with work. Where do you need me? I am at your service," She cut me off and said as she gazed at me eagerly, and I swore I caught a quick flash of desire in her eyes.
I thought for a moment and then decided against it, as I would prefer to deal with this on my own when Mekhi was unavailable.
Technically, Mekhi is not. I told them to go eat and get some rest, but I could handle this alone. Plus, I was not looking to invite any trouble back to my place. "thank you, Sacha, but I am good, have a good evening now."
Totally out of patience now, I arched an eyebrow, with a face of steel looking straight into her eyes, almost daring her to offer something else.
Disappointment was evident on her face. However, she quickly recovers, saying, "OK, Alpha, see you at one thirty."
"Ok, see you," then continued to my home. Yes, I threw her off track. She is relentless. Let her go to the pack house...She saunters away, and I shake my head.
Would she ever quit?
Here is where the events of the second installment began.
Alpha Zayne Steele POV.
Looking around, I take a head count and am satisfied after confirming that we are all here on time at one thirty am. We quickly got our already-packed gear, then jumped into four waiting vans and an SUV.
I was in the SUV with my Beta, the driver, and three other warriors. I'm in the front, with the driver and the others in the back. Sacha is in the front seat of one of the vans with the lead Warrior, Nathanial driving and four other Warriors in the back.
The other van, Delta Rafael, in the front with the driver and four other warriors in the back, then the last two vans are mainly to transport the rescues, so the rest of the warriors are split into two along with the drivers of the vans.
Twenty-five of us warriors drove off, making our way onto the roadway out of our compound and to our target. We checked our coms, making sure we were all connected with the team back at base currently overseeing things, being our eyes.
They can hack into anything. So they will hack into the cameras at the location. Once we can connect, then they will be our eyes.
We had little banter the entire trip, but I was too preoccupied to pay much attention. I nodded and occasionally grunted, making it seem like I was in tune with what was being said.

The continuation at the end of the second installment, picking up after they enter the room and see a whole operation taking place, then chaos erupts.
Chaos Erupt...
You betcha, all our hard work went to hell in an occurrence of a millisecond. Some innocent humans were hooked up to a machine while a doctor operated, and there were a total of three.
The nurse, the Doctor, and the human, these crooked and twisted people must have been kidnapped from off the streets. These bastards!
Before either of us could reach to grab the tranquilizer, as the Doctor and Nurse were humans. The nurse screams at the top of her lungs. When we finally shot her, the screams died in her throat, but it was too late.
"Goddess, damn it!" I hissed. The damage was already done.
Quickly, we did the same to the Doctor.
The Doctor, on the other hand, had a look of pure shock, not quite comprehending what was going on or how we got in.
"We are taking them in for questioning," I announced. However, the alarm that the scream had set off would soon lead to an attack.
Darn it, I want to find all I can find. I wasted no more time here. Turning, "Come on," I said and quickly moved on to the fourth room as the Warrior we left in the first room joined us.
I told him, "bind those two in that room," pointing to the one we had just scrambled out of with the Doctor and the Nurse.
Nodding, he headed in and got to work.
Bursting into the next room, they were ready. Two guard creatures were in there. As I step in, one of them grabs me, and with my quick reflexes, I yank my arm away as my Beta pulls him off me and shoots him in the head.
I tackled the next skillfully, clutching him by his neck, sank my claws in, and ripped his head apart.
I glanced over and saw the humans were busy at work, not paying us any mind. Not wasting a minute.
They move as fast as possible, already destroying evidence and information that can be vital in identifying who is behind this or finding detailed evidence they have of the evil being done at outposts like these.
I am afraid to wonder how many other outposts are out there.
My men secured them and pushed them aside, out of the way.
By the time I got to the stack of papers by the furnace, all I had got was the name, "Nurse Sheila Brown." I quickly stored it away safely. The others went on to search every inch of this room.
I continued rummaging through the room, finding a picture of a young girl.
Looks like someone's daughter, though. It could simply be one of the workers. Its edges are burnt--, the furnace, damn it. It may be nothing, but I took it anyway.
Looking around, Mekhi caught my attention, waving me over.
I made my way to him in two long strides as he showed me a flash drive. I tap him on the shoulder, "nice, buddy," I say as he stores it away. Then we both eyed a burnt hard drive. Mekhi looked at me like, 'Yo, we better get that drive. Don't you dare leave it.'
That and desperation made me grab it up, hoping we could get Intel by some miracle.
On the bright side, we have gotten the doc but never had there been an actual Doctor here in times past. Maybe that was for a reason. Do they operate in the early hours of the morning, so usually, when we hit these places, they are never there?
And we only happened upon them because we changed our timing?
When you think about it, times when we hit midnight, they simply do not turn up for their shift. Or was this a one-off?
It was certainly interesting to assume.
Over the com, we heard that the fight with the remaining guards was over. We quickly dominated but were too late for substantial Intel.
Nevertheless, we have the doctor, a nurse, and a few human workers, and they will get no special treatment from me. They are monsters for doing this and being a part of it...
As we made our way back down, I got more updates. Still no substantial Intel, but they rescued humans being held against their will, waiting to be experimented on.
Sadly, some were recovering from the experiment, in which case they were taken out.
And then some more bad news came in. One of my warriors got bitten. I ball my hands in a fist as my claws extend, digging into my palms, puncturing my flesh.
Now is neither the time nor the place to lose it.
I calmed my wolf; he wanted to run, and he saw red for his Warrior and his family. He howls in my mind. To say he was angry was an understatement. I rein him in.
Reaching the ground floor, my team and I were greeted by the rescued survivors and the other teams. I gave the order to the drivers that stayed behind to come to meet us so that they could transport the rescues.
There were a little under ten, which surprised me as we always met over twenty or thirty innocents. This is not good news. It can mean they are even closer to perfecting these creatures than we had initially thought, or something else has temporarily caught their attention.
Didn't dwell on it. I asked if there was anything substantial at all? I already knew the answer but still had to ask. As it turns out, the top floor was the only floor with any sort of data.
I glanced at the rescues. Right now, they all looked quite ready to just get the hell out of here, and so we did.
Taking charge, I announced, "Listen up, I know you are all scared right now. We will get you out of here and take you to safety OK, so let's move out in one line."
After checking with our guy outside, I guided them as things were still peaceful.
We quickly cleared out, ensuring the rescues were safe in the transport along with the Warrior, who got bitten. The rest of us made the quick trek to our respective vehicles and filed into them, then we made our way home.
