To what f**king end?
Alpha Zayne Steele
Zayne stood menacingly tall and proud, facing the Doctor at his side of the table, and BAM! He slammed his hand on it. Leans over, dominating the space, and growls viciously above him.
Zayne's aura was stifling even for the human Doctor. Not all Alphas have that effect on a human, but Zayne was one of them that does. It was a powerful aura that the Doctor was not used to. Actually, he had never felt such an aura before. He was intrigued despite his current situation.
He wanted to know more about werewolves, which is why he had signed up for the opportunity to run an experiment on them and change a human's DNA, turning them into these monsters.
The sound echoed in waves across the room, giving maximum effect.
Aragorn comes to the surface, and Zayne lets him peek out. The Doc's heart rate rapidly picks up as he literally jumps back in his chair. The noise of a chair scraping the floor was piercing, but Zayne was not fazed.
The Doc looks at him, eyes wide and curious? Was he curious? Did I intrigue him? Zayne wonders.
Alpha Zayne swiftly reaches for him over the table, grabbing him by his neck with one hand. He lifts the Doctor off the chair, getting him up on his feet, completely lifting him off the ground, and pulling him close as he asks him slowly and deadly.
"Who. Are. You. Working. For? Tell me," Zayne demanded. The Doctor's heart slams against the walls of his chest cavity. Zayne had sworn it would break free of its restraints. He was so close to the Doctor's face that the Doc flinched and started stuttering in response.
"What was that?" Zayne asked, turning his ear to him, knowing very well the Doctor couldn't speak clearly. "hmm?" Zayne squeezed a little tighter on his neck.
"Also, tell me, why is this organization, or whoever is behind all this, is so f**king hell-bent on bringing the wolves to extinction? Huh?" Zayne squeezed again as he pressed for answers.
He was getting tired of this and felt he was not getting anywhere.
"What could possibly be the reason to kidnap the innocents and experiment on them? To what fucking end?" Zayne growled out the last part.
Aragorn's fire with ice-flecked eyes came to the surface and was on full display as he leveled a lethal gaze upon the Doc.
The Doctor finally blurts out, "it... it's th... th the g girl, it's because of the girl." He desperately clutches my hand encircling his neck again, grabbing at my fingers. I loosen my grip slightly.
"What is because of the girl?" Zayne questioned.
He cleared his throat or at least tried to, but Zayne's fingers wouldn't allow it, "I d... donn't kn... n know," he stuttered.
"Who is calling the shots?"
He shook his head, "I don't know."
Tightening his grip once more, Zayne growled out, "Who the f**k is calling the shots?"
"I...I... I... d... don't kn... n... know," he stuttered again. He reeked of fear, and Aragorn loved it "so, a girl," Zayne repeated as he thought about it for a brief second.
Then ask, "what happened with the girl?"
Taking a deep, shaky breath, the Doctor replied, "look, all I... I... kn... kknow is, the girl is dead, and a wolf was involved."
"Oh," I said as I mulled over that bit of information. Back then, when all this started, actually, a few years before, some rebellious lone wolves caused havoc for many, and we eventually ended it.
It was a team effort on all of the Alpha's part. These unruly wolves were trying to run a mock tarnishing our names.
Aragorn baring his sharp canines as it elongates slowly. He just felt extra dramatic, taunting his prisoner. He looked the Doc in the eye and said, "but that doesn't make what they are doing right. They are the bad guys. To what fucking end?" Zayne growled in frustration.
Still in Zayne's grip, he stretches back his head, trying to distance himself from the sharp canines threatening to rip his head off. Eyes wide, feet flailing, "I d don't know I... I sswear it, please, please let me go. I beg of you, please."
Zayne had had enough of this. He abruptly released him and walked out of the interrogation room, not sparing another glance in doc direction. He heard the scraping of the chair and table. The Doc had fallen to the ground with a thud.
Zayne went to the other interrogation room where one of his warriors, Sacha, was currently with the Nurse. He wanted to see how things were going and the progress, if any at all.
After getting a briefing, Zayne verified it was much of the same but less.
The Nurse didn't know about the girl. However, she suspected a wolf must have done something horrible to them, with all the experiments taking place along with the hating energy and animosity towards the wolf kind.
She explained that was why she suspected as much but never inquired.
They experimented on wolves and humans for very different reasons. The experiments on wolfkind are to learn what makes us tick and what is deadly to us.
Unfortunately, they have figured out a lot. The humans, conversely, are to make into a weapon against the wolves. Zayne also heard they were preparing for something big, but no one knew the details. This was 'need to know' only.
Which, in hindsight, really sucks.
Zayne sighed. It's still something. He then told Sacha to lock them back up and get them something to eat. Have a staff member on duty in the kitchen bring it to her.
It has been hours, it's after seven pm, and they must be hungry. Zayne then turns and thanks Sacha for her assistance with the females.
She turns to him, eyes gleaming with Goddess alone knows what, and smiles with lethal flirtatious intent as she says, "I am here for your every need, Alpha," stressing the words "every" and "need."
He shook his head and said, "have a goodnight, Sacha," making his way to see Jovi, his IT guy.
Earlier, he had given him the name on the burnt paper he'd found on the last mission and asked him to check every hospital to find every Nurse with that name.
Also, to try and hack the flash drive to see what information was stored and he also had the hard drive they found as well.
Jovi had said he would clean it, try to repair it, and see if he would get it working. Reaching the room, yes, the one with all the computers, screens, and wires, Zayne opened the door and stepped in.
"Alpha!" Jovi, the IT guy, greets Alpha Zayne, sitting behind a table and looking at some flat screens on the wall in front of them.
Zayne acknowledged, then got straight to the point, saying, "Jo tell me what you found."
"Sad to say, but nothing yet, Alpha." Pointing to one of the flat screens, Zayne followed as Jovi continued, "I have created an algorithm running through all the hospitals' databases to snuff out anyone with the name, but nothing yet."
"However, don't worry. If a nurse is registered with that name, we will find her Alpha. I will let you know as soon as I find a hit, but I am afraid I have some more not-so-good news for you."
Zayne braced himself for the news. He scratched behind his head, eyeing Jovi curiously while grabbing a chair and sitting next to him "go on." Zayne guides.
Jovi went into what seemed like one extended rendition explaining a bunch of stuff that just sounded like gibberish to him...
He interrupted, "so, in other words, you mean," then trailed off.....
"The flash drive is unhackable, this encryption is next level, and I am sorry to admit that I don't have the skill set to crack an uncrackable USB." Jovi breaks it down for Zayne's understanding.
Zayne knew his strengths and weaknesses, and the ins and outs of Information Technology were not one of his strengths.
He did not want to show disappointment because he knew Jovi always gave his all.
Zayne reassured him, "it's okay. I will talk with Mekhi to see who we can outsource with this kind of delicate information. Also, if you have any suggestions, I am all ears, Jovi."
"These people are using high-tech and advanced technology. We need Alpha Thornton."
A low growl starts its way up Zayne's throat from his lower abdomen. Both he nor Aragorn were not pleased with the mention of that name.
When Jovi quickly adds, "I know you have been trying very hard to get a meeting, Alpha, I know. It just sucks the bastard is not willing for whatever reason."
Zayne sighs heavily, instead sounding more like a growl-sigh. "Yes, the f**king bastard refuses to meet, so he is out of the equation." Zayne had said with finality.
