Unconscious
Alpha Zayne Steele
'Hey Raf, we found a woman in between the crawl space of a tree trunk. You can head back and get some rest... Oh, and Raf, please inform Jovi to send out an alert informing everyone in the community to be vigilant...only because two nights ago, we were attacked. Thanks, buddy.'
On the move, Zayne had mind-linked Rafael.
'That's it?' Rafael asked.
'Yeah, I want the community to be alert but not scared and afraid.'
'Sure thing, Alpha! Any idea who the woman is?' Rafael acknowledged and asked.
'Not one clue. We can look into that later.' Zayne replied.
'Ok, Alpha, I am heading to Jovi's, then back to bed.' Rafael responded.
The hospital was not vast, it was like a three-story house, but it had all the amenities needed for a hospital that treats werewolves, witches, and humans.
Also, what they did not have, they have access to getting.
Barging through the front door, the girl at the desk flew up, "Oh, Alpha Zayne, what a surprise seeing you here," she said, then her eyes passed over the woman cradled in his arm.
"Oh my, what happened? Come this way." She turned on her heels and led Zayne and Mekhi to an examination room, and they followed.
"Sadie, could you man the front desk," she called over her shoulders before bustling down the corridor.
"I don't know what happened. We found her like this in the forest," Zayne explains.
On entering the room, "Ok, I am Karen. Please, lay her on the bed. Let me go get the Doctor." Karen said, but before she left.
"We don't know anything about her, not even her name." Zayne wanted to get that out before the Doctor came and started asking about her medical history.
Because, hey, he did not know. He just wanted to ensure the woman was ok, so the Doctor would need to do his work and run the necessary tests, not wasting time asking questions they could not answer.
"Ok, understood," Karen said, leaving the room while Zayne did as she asked.
He gently laid the woman on the hospital bed and ensured the sheet was appropriately wrapped and intact. He gently brushed a few matte strands of her brown hair off her face.
Zayne was inspecting her appearance, trying to gather a description. She looked in her early forties? Maybe? Zayne then thought he should hold on until she got cleaned up. He would take a picture and start with missing persons.
He would also need to get her some clean clothes and arrange for someone to clean her up after Dr. Durance finished his testing.
Zayne had already started to plan things. He mind-linked Rafael now with instructions to send over a change of clothing for a medium-sized female, along with toiletries. A care package of sorts.
"Alpha Zayne, Beta Mekhi," The Doctor acknowledged on entering. Karen came in behind him with a tray of items, then busied herself, prepping a small table and grabbing more things that the Doctor would need, along with a hospital gown for the patient.
"Dr. Durance, she is unconscious, I felt a pulse, but it was weak. She needs immediate medical attention, maybe a full workup," Zayne informs him.
"Yes, of course, Karen updated me. Strange, isn't it?" As he got busy immediately, Dr. Durance asked, then informed after Zayne did not even bat an eye at his speculation.
"Let me run some tests, set her up on IV, and then wait for the result. I would like to run some scans, an x-ray to check for broken bones, a blood test, a full workup."
Gently examining the patient's head for head injuries, he added, "I am seeing slight bruising on her forehead, hmn, Karen add a CT scan and an MRI to the list."
"Sure thing," Karen acknowledged.
"Ok, great, keep me updated on the findings," Zayne informs Dr. Durance. He thought that for now, there was nothing he could do but wait and hoped that the woman was ok, and in that case, they should try to get some rest now; the moon was disappearing, and the sun was rising.
Zayne did not know if Mekhi had gotten any rest, but he sure as hell did not.
"Sure, I will contact you when it's done. Don't you worry! I will take good care of her." Dr. Durance assured Zayne. He saw that Zayne had a look of deep concern in his eyes.
Then Dr. Durance asked Karen to help get her into the hospital gown before proceeding with the first set of testing.
Both Zayne and Mekhi left the room and headed out of the hospital.
Zayne couldn't help but wonder who the woman was. Goddess, she might have been dead come morning or the next time someone would have ventured out there. Nevertheless, he just wanted her to be ok, and he was glad that he did not give up.
He was also glad she was in Dr. Durance's care. He is very talented and skilled. Dr. Durance was one of the best, and Zayne trusted him.
"So, Leandra, huh?" Mekhi interrupted his thoughts.
Zayne rolled his eyes and scuffed, "Dude, I am not having this conversation with you." Zayne's mind was already moved on from his and Leandra's frolicking behavior last night.
Now he was focused on the woman that suddenly came out of nowhere like she had just dropped out of the sky and fallen onto his land. He was also focused on what lay ahead.
He has a meeting today with his men to hear their ideas and plans for the next mission and ideas for recruitment, etc. He had to get an update on the two traces Jovi was handling for him and so much more.
Zayne wanted to be there to hear what the Doctor had to say about Jane Doe, and he was hoping that when she woke, he could ask some questions.
But because he was starting to feel the effects of the night and that he was useless there, he decided to finally head home and dive into his bed.
After about two minutes of walking, "So you really not gonna say anything?" Mekhi queried.
"How was your night?" Zayne asked instead.
"Uh, Uh, Uh, I asked you first," Mekhi said like how a child would and pointed a finger at Zayne.
Zayne shrugged.
"Ok, fine, Sacha and I simply made out! That's it!" Mekhi told Zayne.
"I kissed her LIPS passionately" Mekhi smiled, remembering how he fillet Sacha's pvssy and had her juices running like a stream of water flowing over the waterfall.
"Dude, TMI," Zayne had said. Knowing fully well what Mekhi meant, just by the way he said it.
Mekhi laughs, then adds, "Dude seems like she is still hung up on you, though, so there is that."
Zayne grimaced, "Sorry, dude, and if you must know, Leandra and I simply fooled around a bit. We had fun."
"You let loose?" Mekhi asked.
"Indeed, I did," Zayne admits.
"Hey, up top, my man," Mekhi raised his hand for a high five, but Zayne left him hanging.
"Seriously, dude? Mekhi faked hurt, stumbling in his steps as they walked the distance from the hospital to their destination. He even went as far as clutching his chest as if his heart hurt.
Hands now up in surrender after Zayne hit him with that side-eye for him to cut it out, "All I wanted for you, Zayne, was for you to let loose and have a good time." Mekhi told Zayne.
"I know, buddy, you're just too much," Zayne admits.
"I know, but you like it. It helps distract you sometimes, which is why I do it," Mekhi informs Zayne.
"I figured," Zayne ran his hands down his face, "Geez, I need some sleep. Did you get any?
"No, I couldn't sleep," Mekhi admits.
"Hey, is everything ok?" Zayne queried. Though Mekhi gets on his nerves, he does care for Mekhi. Mekhi is his best Pallywal.
"The usual," Mekhi says, sort of down couraged.
Already assuming it is Sacha because Mekhi did say the usual, after all. And Zayne knew there was nothing he could have done about that, or was there? He began to wonder. But for now, he simply said, "Oh, hang in there, buddy."
Zayne reached out and squeezed Mekhi's shoulders.
Approaching the path he needed to turn onto to get to his home, he slowed in his steps, told Mekhi of his plans for the day, then said, "Ok, see you later."
Now alone in his thoughts, two minutes into the five-minute trek to his home, Zayne's mind replayed the night's event, from the burning to that dance to him and Leandra.
The burning had passed pretty successfully, and many people also came out to support those in mourning. He would get complete updates later on.
He felt proud of the community members, always showing up and showing out for one another.
Zayne was really happy with the changes in the community since taking over from his father.
Hmn, Leandra, yes, he had thoroughly enjoyed her. It felt so good sinking into her warm, sweet, cushy depths. But he'd be damned if he ever told her that.
