Chapter 4

Gomez took Will to the laundry room where the cannibal usually relax as he is doing the laundry work for some extra cash in prison. Gomez dip his hands in the pocket of his orange jumpsuit as he looks at the scheduled time the cannibal is supposed to finish his shift on the notice board on the wall.

It seems the Cannibal will be working late in the laundry room till past twelve when other inmates would have been sleeping.

Gomez tells Will they have to kill Cannibal tonight so that nobody would see them as a witness when they do so and Will has no choice but to agree.

In Mason’s bedroom, Claire took Mason’s phone and decided to sent a message to Trisha first and the message states

“ why did you want us to catch up, you should have moved on already so please F**k off”.

Claire made sure she got the delivery report of the message to Trisha and she deleted the message from Mason’s phone. Claire has mastered the art of using Mason’s phone to send messages without Mason’s knowledge because she gets away with it almost all the time.

Claire believed that mission has been accomplished on Trisha and moved on to Jasmine which she sees as the maximum threat that can eventually expose her secret and take away her brother from her. She decided to send a message as well in a very offensively hateful way so that Jasmine could back off totally but did Jasmine back off?

Claire sent a message to Jasmine with Mason’s phone that states,

“ I don’t want a brunch or slice of you anymore because I don’t feel anything for you so please f**k off already”

and Claire said to herself that danger has been averted but has it really been averted? Claire also made sure to get a delivery report before deleting the message from Mason’s phone.

After some time that Mason is already fast asleep, Claire took her bag and left for her apartment.

In the prison, Gomez who is planning on how to execute a kill order for Will seems to be quite nervous even though he is a bit use to killing compared to Will. Will tried to calm Gomez which worked for a while until they are about to carry out the plan;

“How am I suppose to do this?”, Will asks

“When he(Cannibal) is sleeping with his head relaxed towards the back of the chair, then you slit his throat”, Gomez explains.

Gomez and Will watched the time quite well until the last person in the lunch room go inside his room. Will is moving ahead to the laundry room as Gomez is right behind him with his own extra pocket knife.

Will walks as stealthily as an astronaut walking on the moon because he is extremely careful so as not to allow the cannibal to hear the sound of his footsteps coming towards him.

Gomez who is still very nervous is staying quite close to Will as a back up of unforeseen circumstances but unfortunately his jumpsuit got stuck with the handle of the door which made him stay behind as Will is still moving ahead to slit the cannibal’s throat.

Will was about to slit the throat of the Cannibal when Gomez’s Jumpsuit removes from the door handle which let door forcefully close loudly after the struggle.

The Cannibal heard the sound of the door and wake up only for him to see someone with a Shank knife on his face.

The cannibal immediately tries to overpower Will which was successful because he is way bigger than Will but he did not know that Gomez is just around the corner.

Gomez saw as Will was still struggling with the cannibal and come from the back of the cannibal to stab him in the neck with his pocket knife. The blood of the cannibal is gushing all over Will’s face and Gomez had to drag Will from underneath the cannibal.

Will and Gomez firstly went to the bathroom to wash off the blood on Will’s body and go to Bernado’s prison room afterwards.

“it’s done Bernado”, Will said.

“Where is his body?”, Bernado asks.

“In the laundry room”, Will responds.

“Wait a sec …let Blade confirm that”, Bernado said as he collects the Shank knife from Will and they are both waiting for Blade to come back.

Blade took a while before he came back which got Will thinking about what is taking Blade so long.

“Is he doing another thing aside checking a dead man”, Will said.

At last Blade returned and said it’s true that the Cannibal is dead which is a relief to hear for Will and Bernado told Will to leave.

Gomez is waiting for his friend just right outside Bernado’s prison room and as Bernado told Will to leave, they both head straight to their prison rooms.

Gomez and Will are both about to enter their rooms when they saw the cannibal fresh corpse on the prison entrance of Gomez's room and Will said to Gomez;

“Now I see the reason why Blade took so long to check the body”.

“yes, he was carrying the body to my entrance, Bernado is coming for us and I don’t like this”, Gomez said.

The next morning occurred like a vision to Mason because he woke late to a splitting headache due to the hang over of last night.

He immediately took his bath after some couple of minutes of relaxing his head and he took some coffee before heading to the office. Mason is already on his way to the office when he realized that he did not take his phone, so he turned back his car with immediate effect towards his house.

Mason got home but could not remember where he dropped his phone last night. After a while he saw the phone in an unusual place in his house because each time he got drunk, he has never dropped his phone in that place.

It is either he put his phone in his little cabinet beside the bed or on his closet but this time he found it under his bed so he thought to himself that he must have been really wasted last night.

Mason got to the office really late and his secretary ( Johanna) told him how the CEO has been asking of him for the past half an hour and she has been calling him but he is not picking up the phone. Not long after his conversation with his secretary then Mr. White (the CEO) came in and asked him about his whereabouts in which Mason calmly told Mr. White how he lost his phone early this morning without including the last night drunkenness and hangover part of course .

The CEO told him to see this as a warning because that’s probably the first time Mason would be late to work. After the tense conversation with the CEO Mason then decided to check his phone only to see that he missed thirty calls and twenty messages. Mason decided to have more coffee to clear some part of his blurry vision and asked Johanna how she was able to call him thirty times but Johanna said ‘no’ that she didn’t call him more than ten times this morning.

Apparently, Mason’s vision was not clear enough when he was checking the missed calls so he couldn’t see other calls he missed as well.

Mason decided to check his phone again after his coffee when his eyes are quite clear as normal. Mason checks missed calls again and he saw that he missed Jasmine's calls seven times and he missed Trisha’s calls thirteen times which felt uncomfortable and unusual to him and he said himself ‘when did they start to care this much’?.

It is lunch time and Mason decided to call Claire after finishing some of his paper work on his desk. Mason was trying to figure out how last night went so he is asking his sister how it went. Is he asking the wrong person? Not like there is another person with them last night.

Claire went on to dish the truth and lies to Mason by telling him he easily got wasted after taking two glasses of wine when Mason took six glasses of wine and she said she took seven glasses of wine when she took just two which was a plain lie but Mason could not have known because there is no other witness and yes he was really wasted. Claire also told him the truth by telling him how good he ate the dinner she prepared last night as well.

When lunch was over, Mason went to the office and met a little package sent to him again. He is more curious than ever to see who sent the package because the package contains a book that has a title that says

‘two enemies'

and in the card that follows it states that “ you sent me a message of enmity between us so you got it”.

Mason is curious to know his enemy but the moment he opened the package he saw the sender to be Trisha and Mason keep wondering why Trisha would suddenly be mad at him.

Mason then decided to check the messaging app on his phone because he thought he might have sent a wrong message to her when he was wasted but when he got there, he could not see any message he sent recently rather he saw the replies of Trisha’s message to what Claire sent last night but the evidence is no longer there that Claire sent a message which made him more confused than ever.

Mason decided to call Jasmine but Jasmine is not picking up the phone because Jasmine felt really hurt by the message she received last night even though she still replied the message. Jasmine has started rethinking whether to fix things or not because of how hurt she felt last night, will Claire be happy about this? Hell yeahhhh.

Although Jasmine is still skeptical about making up her mind because she has already developed some strong feelings for Mason. Mason decided to call Trisha as well and she picked up the phone.

‘Why did you send me a book of enmity?’ Mason asked,

‘you asked for it’ Trisha responded.

Mason was more confused here and was like loosing his brilliance because it was seemingly looking as if he could not wrap his head around the situation. Mason then went back to his messages on his phone to read Trisha’s replies that states,

“why would you tell me to f**k off?”,

“why did you just feel like hurting me”,

“if you want enmity between us I am down for it”.

Mason was almost loosing his mind because he just could not understand why he’s getting all those responses from Trisha and why Jasmine is not picking up his call.

Mason got home later in the day and he told Claire on the phone about what is happening to him and Claire decided to come over to console him even though she knows she was the cause of everything.

At this point, Claire is more or less happy in her mind believing all is going according to plan for her until suddenly there was an incoming call for Mason and it was from Jasmine’s brother (Richard), Richard was almost ranting on the phone with Mason because the heartbreaking message Shook Jasmine and she is on medications at the moment but Mason is still confused because he is still very much in the dark but Claire felt some physical pity and happy mind in the situation until Richard was about to end the call and said;

“you are just as heartless as your sister” but Mason responded,

“you are just too abusive” then Richard hung up the phone.

Mason couldn’t help but think why Richard would say he is just as heartless as his sister because he believed Richard was at fault in the relationship he had with Claire.

In the prison after what happened last night, Will and Gomez are more or less in a challenging state because they both thought that for Bernado to want the both of them to kill for him is not a coincidence because it’s is also part of the rule of the prison that if you can kill for Bernado then you are automatically part of Bernado’s men and if one wants to leave Bernado, Bernado will most likely kill that person or let the Warden release the evidence of the CCTV footage to the state and the person will have more convictions to his name.

Gomez and Will are more curious and nervous to know when Bernado will summon Gomez to give him his order to kill.

The next morning, Mason woke up quite early because he could barely get a sleep due to his psychological and emotional state at the moment.

He got to the office and Johanna was surprised to see Mason that early which made her noticed something is wrong with Mason but Mason did not want to tell Johanna about his emotional state in anyway.

Mason is becoming restless so he decided to call Jasmine again but Richard pick it up instead and Richard asked why Mason is calling his sister and Mason said he wants to check on her, ‘after you broke her heart to a million pieces?’ said Richard and Mason suddenly became mute to the response of that so Richard hang up the phone.

Mason decided to call Trisha and she picked up the phone but responding angrily to Mason questions.

‘why the f**k are you calling me?’, Trisha asked,

‘I’ve come to ask why you are still so angry at me after all this while?’, Mason said.

‘Did you not know what you sent to me two days ago as message?’, Trisha said.

‘I already checked I didn’t send you any message two days ago, what the f**k are you saying?’, Mason said.

‘I still have the message right here with me, if you want I can send it back to you’, Trisha said.

‘send it to me then and let me see it’, Mason said.

‘I will do that when I get home’, Trisha replied and hang up the phone immediately which made Mason think Trisha was just bluffing.

The day went like a breeze and it is evening after work already when Claire is at her brother’s place when Mason’s phone buzz for a message from Trisha and Claire also saw the sender on the phone of her brother when he is about to read the message which made Claire suddenly uncomfortable.

Gomez was also eventually summoned after the long expectant wait from Bernado but he his quite nervous about what is happening.

Mason opened the message only… .
