CHAOTIC SET UP
6 AM. Sumire woke up and finished her bath early in the morning. She went out of the bathroom wearing only a bathrobe. Her hair was wet cascading down on her back and a big smile was reflected in the mirror while combing it. Eiryss brought good news to her last night. She was given an option by her manager as to whether she would sign a new contract at the projects that were lined up, waiting for her approval, or take a two months vacation, which she obviously chose the latter. Sumire vow to herself that she will make Mort confess to her and this is the perfect opportunity to do it.
She opened the sliding door and let the gentle morning breeze in. The first rays of sunlight lit up her room. The dawn chorus of melodic birdsong drifted in. From the lawn of her home down below, she saw Sam, her most trusted bodyguard riding his motorcycle arrive looking so hot and fine, carrying a basket of fruits she asked him last night. The man really had a chance of becoming a model but he rejected it and chose to be Sumire's loyal bodyguard.
She turned open her laptop and played the music. She hums along to the melody as she prepares her daily coffee and the laptop to make her CV to apply for a job at the MDA company. She would use the two-month vacation to get the long-awaited answer from Mort. She is determined to make him hers.
Sam made her morning meal when he saw his Boss was busy on the laptop while singing along to the music. 'She must be in a good mood.' He said in his mind.
After they had breakfast, Sumire immediately dressed up in a formal white business suit with a pair of white earrings and white high heels. Sam drives her to the MDA building.
She arrived at the building and sauntered the place like her runaway. She made a grand entrance. Marveled by her beauty, the employees stopped walking and turn their heads toward her. She smiles beguilingly and they all greet her morning.
Sumire headed straight to Mort's office and as usual, Klauss appeared to her sight outside the office, standing and holding files. He was reading and his glasses barely slid down his pointed nose. Sumire stood next to him and catch his attention.
"Aherm," Sumire faked a cough, and Klauss turned to her. "Morning." She added formally and shone a bright smile.
Klauss stared down at her in surprise to see her in the place. "Why do you dress up like that?" The white-haired man asked critically and raised an eyebrow as he looked at her appearance, from the head down to the toe.
"Take a guess." She playfully said that Klauss cast a blank stare at her.
"I'm not interested," Klass said unenthusiastically and ignored her. He went back to reading when his most hated species on earth spoke again.
"Behold. As today and onward, you'll be seeing this beautiful face more often. You should be kind to me." Sumire said, so pleased with herself, and plastered a smirk.
Klauss's eyes quickly widened and he turned back to Sumire, looking terrified. If she would be a mosquito, he could easily slap her to death.
"What do you mean?" Klauss asked skeptically. He looks down at her like the most disgusting creature he's ever seen. She is his worst nightmare.
"I'll apply for a job here," Sumire then raised the paper and gave it to him but Klauss tore it without reading it.
"Unfortunately, I have the original CV in my hand. What you torn to pieces is just a piece of junk." She smirked and showed her CV to Klauss. He pulled Sumire closer to him and was about to snatch the paper away from her when Sumire quickly escape from his grasp and stepped back, not realizing the presence of Mort standing tall behind her. Sumire unconsciously stepped on his foot which almost made her trip down but she manage to regain her posture.
"What's going on here?" Mort asked in a gruff voice towering over Sumire. He cast a look at both of them back and forth.
"Oh! Boss, you're here. I'm going to apply for a job here at your company. Here's my CV." She gave him the CV and Mort accepted it. The giant hunk just examined the paper with a short glance without finishing reading it. He stares down at Sumire who now looks like a child, with puppy eyes on and a sweet innocent smile on her face.
"You're hired," Mort said making Sumire jumps in exuberant and clapping her hands. But when she turned to Klauss to annoy him, he just smiled at her triumphantly.
Sumire frowned and snorted in confusion at Klauss's reaction. He should be devastated at the news! But then when she turned back to Mort, a woman emerged from his back on the right side, eyes wandering around.
It was like a bolt of lightning struck down on her body from where she was standing and her mirth vanished away in just a split of a second. Sumire was stoned in her place.
"Who is she?" Sumire asked and gave the pretty woman standing next to her man a scrutinizing look. She was dressed in yellow and with a yellow hairband on her head matching her long curly hair. She had a slender body and looks. The woman turned to him and smiled sweetly.
"I'm Charlotte De Mavius, Mort's fiancee." The woman replied and reached for her hand but quickly withdrew when Sumire did not accept her hands for a shake instead she looked at Mort in the eyes, asking for an explanation.
"Is it true?" Sumire asked dejectedly. She felt betrayed and disheartened even though she and Mort aren't officially together.
"Yes." Mort coldly responded with no expression on his face.
Sumire gasped and her face looked pale with an alien stiffness, eyes so dull she almost seemed lifeless. She staggered to her feet, swaying a little, and felt like a hundred daggers pierce her heart. She was stunned to speak. Sumire stared at Mort without even blinking once while tears started to form in her eyes.
"What are you going to do? Burst into tears and promise not to come back. I thought you came here for a job?" Klauss teases her which made her tears retreat. She turned to Klauss and glared at him.
"Oh, she's here for work. How about you make her Klauss's apprentice," Charlotte interjected and looked at Sumire dressed in white that perfectly matches Klauss's white suit. "I smell romance in the air--"
"Well, I smell rubbish." Sumire cut her off and bitchily rolled her eyes. Charlotte was left stunned, mouth hanging open at what she heard while Klauss and Mort remained unconcerned. Sumire's savagery is not a new thing to them. Charlotte calmed down and immersed herself in her role of playing innocent. "they both have strong chemistry..." Charlotte teasingly added and grinned.
Klauss' face contorted with rage at what he heard. The veins on the side of his forehead started to throb. His teeth gritted and clenched his jaw. He wants to kill Charlotte with his bare hand.
"What do you say, Mort?" Charlotte sweetly asked him but the man never threw a glance at her.
"No!" The three of them firmly blurted out in unison that Charlotte was astounded by her place.
"How about making her my assistant." A deep yet gentle tone bombarded them and the four of them turned at the same time. Dieu's eyes darted to Sumire and flashed an angelic smile at her. He just arrived and it happens he found them. She seemed to be locked in Dieu's gorgeous pair of eyes that were almost the same color as Mort. 'I'd rather agree to be his assistant than working with this white-haired demon freak!'
"It would be my pleasure--" Sumire was cut off when Mort step near to her and suddenly spoke. She felt her hair grows from her back at the ominous and dominating aura the man emanated.
"Klauss, make her your apprentice," Mort ordered with finality using his commanding tone. Klauss couldn't do anything but obey his command. With the coldness of his Boss' tone and the extremely dark expression on his face, he wouldn't dare to defy him. Sumire, who was about to say yes to Dieu's offer, just kept quiet. Mort looked at her, a penetrating stare that made her again regret drawing his attention.
"Yes, Sir!" Klauss responded.
"When do I start?" Sumire asked, now behaving like a child after getting reprimanded. Klauss looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"You can start when you are 60 years old." Klauss straightforwardly said which make Sumire pouted.
"You can start today," Charlotte intervenes again for the second time, raising Sumire's eyebrows and looking at her.
"You're not my Boss," Sumire said aloofly and gave her an icy stare.
"But I'm his Boss's FIANCÈE." Charlotte's replied, emphasizing the latter word to her face. The woman steal a glance at Mort who didn't even pay attention to her. Charlotte had an air of too much confidence that she came off boastful.
"There's a difference between being confident and deluded and you, unfortunately, fall into the latter." Sumire bluntly said, causing Charlotte's face to flustered red with anger. She didn't expect Sumire to have a sharp tongue. 'I'm going to unmask your true identity, bitch.' Sumire coldly eyed her as she skinned the woman alive in her mind.
'This ungrateful wench!' Charlotte was about to speak when Mort suddenly spoke. "Klauss, you gave Ms. Massoullève a short briefing. You can both leave."
Klauss immediately obeyed without uttering a word. He and Sumire quietly turn around and leave. But even before they had gone completely from the place, they noisily broke into rumpus again in the corridor as some employees walked passed through them stopped, and watched them.
"You should have just given Sumire to me. I kinda like her." Dieu muttered, looking at the maiden from afar who was now trying to step on Klauss' foot out of annoyance, while Klauss stop her by placing his hand on her forehead. They look like street kids having a brawl over a small thing.
Mort's expression darkened at what he heard. He couldn't stop himself from oozing bloodlust to kill. He will slaughter anyone on his way who dares to like her. He won't let anyone have her but only him. Mort's hand turned into a fist that anytime would pierce into his brother's chest.
His cold eyes dawned on him. "I hired someone to be your secretary."
Dieu immediately turned to him with questioning eyes. "Who is it?" He asked. And from behind him, a man in his formal navy blue suit appeared.
"I'm Leroy Huxley. You're personal secretary, Sir." Leroy formally introduces himself and head slightly bowed. Dieu looked at his brother and Leroy in disbelief.
"Seriously? He's still studying at school." Dieu uttered looking at Leroy from head to toe. Leroy was neatly dressed in a suit that Narco helped him fix his attire and tie and made him look like a decent secretary. No one can guess he's a college student.
"He's more capable than you." Mort bluntly said.
A glint of bitter jealousy and his insecurities rose inside of him. He was at the end of his tether. Dieu feels that Mort is insulting him by giving him a secretary who is just a student. He had always been very jealous of his brother’s good looks, success, and building his own empire from scratch while he is living under his brother's shadow, trying his best to impress their family and prove himself to be a rightful successor of the Aslanov Clan leader. The feared mafia clan ever existed.
'I'll make you regret for treating me this way.' Dieu's mind was clouded in thoughts when suddenly Mort's voice grabbed his attention.
"Mr. Huxley, I'll leave him to you. You two are dismissed." Mort ordered Dieu and Leroy to leave his place immediately.
The two of them walked down the hallway when they saw Sumire standing in front of the closed door. She's like an unfortunate guard angel wearing an office suit that matches the shimmering white door that looks like a portal to another world. Leroy and Die approached her place and greeted her.
"Hey, why--" Dieu was stopped when Sumire preceded him.
"Can't you believe he won't let me in?!" She vented her spleen. She had been standing for minutes after Klauss throw her out of the office. Her hands are now on her waist while angrily staring at the closed door.
"So, you're the husband," Leroy asked vaguely, making Sumire frown.
"What do you mean?" She asked and stood properly. Dieu, on the other hand, silently studied Sumire's frowning face. 'Even her anger cannot conceal her beauty.' he uttered on his mind and smirked.
"Usually when the husband and wife are having a fight, the husband is always the one who gets kicked out, and right now, you look exactly like one."
Leroy said making Sumire pout again and crossing her arms. She glared back at the door where Klauss was inside. 'What an adorable little war freak...' Dieu chuckled on the side.
"Oh, I hope Mr. Michaelis hears it so he can realize how irresponsible, boorish and immature he is." She loudened her voice so that Klauss could hear her insult but to her dismay, she got no answer from him.
"Klauss is a thick-faced demon. The qualities you just said are what define him. He is immune to insults and all."
Leroy said thrusting his hands into his pocket. She turns to face him and menacingly smiled which shocked Dieu and Leroy. There was something evil flickered in her eyes that were now playing in her mind on how to annoy Klauss to death.
"I'm clearly aware of that. But he can't do anything if I ruin this magnificent door with mud to match his attitude."
She then heard a creak from the door slowly opening and from there a menacing growl can be heard. Towering her from the back, a pair of frosty cold blue eyes dawned on her.
"What did you just say?" A stern voice crept into her spine as she confirmed that it was Klauss. She can feel the daggers impaling on her back. She then faced him.
"Nothing," she sweetly smiled that reached into her eyes and the devil squinted his eyes on her, scrutinizing the truthfulness of her word. Leroy and Dieu were wowed at how she changed her personality in a blink of an eye. She's like a chameleon expertly changes her color.
"Good, or my effort in preparing your place here in my office will be wasted."
Sumire jumps off with joy as she was touched by what Klauss said. He now sounds genuine and honest too. And she couldn't believe that he had prepared a place for her. Unbelievable!
Leroy looked at Klauss doubtfully.
"Awww, thank you," Sumire said sincerely and Klauss just nod to her but he is playfully smirking in his mind.
"Welcome," Klauss said as he opened the door wide for her and Sumire entered. Leroy and Dieu were about to follow after her when Klauss slammed the door shut on them, completely ignoring their presence in the place.
Sumire peruses her gaze inside the office and just like before she saw the glorious paintings on the wall. She can smell the aroma of freshener lingering around. She feels like she's in heaven! Everything is so perfect and all the stuff are cleanly arranged. She didn't realize that Klauss was following behind her and was carrying a disinfectant spray. Now, this gross specie is at his mercy, he can easily wipe her existence.
Klauss laugh evilly in his mind while imagining Sumire as a cockroach begging her life to be spared. But that disappeared as soon as Sumire turned to him.
"Where's my desk?" Sumire asked curiously, unable to see where her desk was placed.
"Oh, come here." Klauss pointed to her small place on the side next to his office desk. Her smile quickly faded and she's taking back what she said earlier about him. Sumire's eyes widened and nostrils flared when she saw the small table and a small chair that only kindergarten would dare to sit on. "That's your place." He added.
Gritted teeth and her hand quickly turned into a fist, a loud curse echoed inside Klauss's office that can be heard from the outside.
"I fucking hate you, Klauss Michaelis!"
