112: Happy ever after.
KIKI.
“What do you think the results for today will be?” Rose questioned as she put the microphone in front of my face, the man with her was almost shoving the camera in his hands on my face.
“Whatever results it’ll be, I don’t mind at all.” I replied at the same time that Gia suddenly hugged my legs.
“Mommy, mommy, can we have the cupcakes already? I want the ones with pink ribbons on them.” My three year old daughter said to me while I chuckled.
“You can have it in some minutes, Gia. Please, be patient.” I said to her.
Rose bent to her height as she placed the microphone in front of her mouth too, “dear goddaughter, what do you think mommy would be having?” She asked.
“A girl, aunty Rose. A girl!” Gia screamed with excitement.
“Uh… majority of us here roots for a boy but that’s fine too, why do you want it to be a girl, Gia?”
“Because I want to braid her hair and do her makeup…” Gia responded and we all bursted out laughing.
“I don’t think a boy would mind either, I mean look at me for instance. You braid my hair and do my makeup anytime you want.” Giovanni said out of nowhere as he lifted Gia in his arms and gave me a quick kiss for the umpteenth time that day, we bursted into laughter at what he said.
He wasn't wrong.
He does literally anything for his daughter, if he’s asked to wear Princess outfits and do tea parties, he was ready.
“Okay, here’s the baby’s daddy, now we’d like to know what you want the baby to be, Giovanni?” Rose asked as she put the microphone closer to him.
“I want it to be a girl, people. A girl, I have no issues with it being a boy too, I just think it’ll be cool to have another princess just like Gia.” Giovanni replied and Gia immediately fist bumped with him.
I simply laughed at the cute duo as I left them all to attend to guests.
The atmosphere was full of positive energy, love, and laughter. There were multiple games being played, special meals that were made, and tons of gifts were being opened given to me. Every aspect of the baby shower was baby themed. The decorations were things such as pacifiers, rattles, bottles, and there was even a cake made out of diapers. The cupcakes had pacifiers on them and every dessert was a lovely shade of blue and pink to represent the two genders.
Adorable baby books were being passed around and filled with positive notes and pieces of advice that experienced mothers felt would help prepare for when the baby came.
“It’s so fulfilling to know that only Rose and I already know the baby’s gender.” Imelda said to me as soon as I took a seat beside her, “it’s amusing to see everyone be so tense and excited about what gender the baby is.” She added and I chuckled.
She and Rose threw me this party and since I said I didn’t want to know the baby’s gender until it was the baby shower, the doctor ahd told them both instead.
It was thrilling to have such information withheld from me until today.
Once dinner was served, we all gathered in a close vicinity of tables, “gather around, people! It is time!” Rose announced.
Giovanni, Gigi and I stood around the set stage as we each had a confetti Canon in our hands.
The crowd began to count for us so we can all pop them at once, “one, two, three, GO!”
We immediately popped them and blue ribbons filled the air, with people immediately jumping with excitement, “it’s a boy! It’s a boy,” was the phrase that rented the hair for the next seconds followed by pats and hugs from various well-wishers.
Grace hugged me the longest despite my huge belly, and then followed by dearest husband, Giovanni.
I looked around at all the beautiful people that had come to my bridal shower, friends and family, new and old ones, and then at my husband.
For much of my life, I dreamed about my wedding day. I thought about the person that would be standing beside me and what things would be like after that magical day had come and gone. I wondered if there was such a thing as a perfect, lasting union. Now, four years later, I know that I have a healthy and loving marriage. True love like this is rare and difficult to find, but I know that I have found it in him. In the time that we have been married, my life has changed because of him.
I went from his assistant to his girlfriend, his fiance, then his wife and now the mother of his kids. I loved him so much years ago and I love him even more now.
I got my happy ending, that same one that I didn’t think was real, I’m living it.
I was about to go into my husband’s arms since he was few feet away greeting and laughing with the guests but the moment I moved one foot, a gush of water came trickling down my legs and then I looked at myself, no it wasn’t urine this time.
The pain that came with it was like that of contractions and then I screamed, “MY WATER JUST BROKE!”
THE END.
