Then, she started to ramble about the altercation with her bracelet, so absent-minded. I couldn't help but stare at her in amusement. That moment when she was rambling, lost in her words, she looked the cutest. Even though she was dressed in one of the most frugal clothes, she couldn't help but look beautiful in it.

Everything was going well until she said no. Yes, she declined the promotion.

"I'm not going to become your little toy, I don't want this position. It's impossible unless you're trying to just get in between my legs. It makes absolutely no sense." She snapped, without fear.

“You think I'm promoting you because I want to sleep with you?” I asked, feeling ridiculous at the moment as I looked into her fiery eyes. Could this lady be serious right now?

'Uh... maybe because you look at her like you'd love to see her naked?' My subconscious noted.

“Why else would you promote me to the post of PA?” She fired back, her sassy tongue taking over. “This ain't a promotion. Promotions are being taken to the next level or next two. But all the way here? From the ground floor? Tell me something else, sir, that's simply ridiculous. I don't even know what an EA means. I don't even have the qualifications." She dismissed my words with the wave of a hand.

For a moment, nothing was said. She didn't say anything and I just stared at her. My mind was set in overdrive wondering how in the world she came up with such a theory. but

I mean yes, maybe I liked her, maybe I would love to fuck her, her body was sexy and all that and I definitely want that in my bed, but asking her to work with me finished that thought. It was everything I was up against. I would never do that. “Kiki,” I called her when my laughter died down. “Do you think I will give you a high-level promotion just because I want to sleep with you?” I asked her making her sound ridiculous. Right, this was ridiculous. In every bit.

“Do you think I would go through that when I can just have you in my bed if I want to? I can have you in my bed, Kiki without the need to do this at all, I mean why would I give you such a promotion just because of your body, is it laced with gold? Will your body fetch this company money? Why go through that stress when all it would take is me snapping my fingers and you'd be in my bed, moaning my name?" I explained, cockily, raising a brow.

A big frown settled on her face, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I guessed I Struck a nerve with my words but she needed to see it.

“You bosses are damn crazy. Just because you are up here and I'm way down there doesn't mean you can get into my pants. Because even if you offer me the whole world on a platter of gold, you still wouldn't get into my pants just because you want to and to think you sacked Sam, like you're any different." She sounded furious.

“You know, Claire talks about this all the time. She tells me how you guys cook up all sorts of things just to get into a lady's pants. She talks about how desperate a man can get to have a woman on her bed. Promotions like this tend to be the bait. Claire was right after all.” She added.

“Friend?” I questioned her. “That friend of yours? You call her your friend? Oh, that's a frenemy and not a friend.” I smiled watching her furious face. I just ignited the fire but it was the truth. That girl was no friend of hers. She was bad.

I flinched, unexpectedly when she suddenly banged the table, angry that I would say that about her friend.

“You don't get to call her names, sir. With all due respect, you should keep your thoughts to yourself.” She half-yelled. I raised my hands, signaling for her to calm down as I did earlier.

“You should calm down. Calm down Kiki.” I spoke softly. But she was beyond pissed.

“You know what, I'm done here! I'm done with the company. It doesn't pay much anyway.” She announced, insistently. I didn't stop her when she turned around and stomped out of my office, almost banging the door.

That was the thing about her. That was what drew me towards her in the first place; her ability to speak her mind when she wasn't having it. The confidence to call you out on your bluff and fuck you off. That was what had drawn me towards her.

But then as I leaned into my seat, I couldn't help but think if that was it for her. If that was what life had shown her to make her have such a mentality. The mentality that every man trying to help her out there only wants to get in her pant.

It made me shudder at how rough her life would be. Well, it was certainly rough since she was working two jobs. It could even be more than that.

I thought about what Matteo said. He had asked me to just have her in my bed if I wanted to. Was he wrong to have said that? He had implied that employing her was only going to fuel my lust for her. Then, I would probably break my policy. That would shatter my work ethics.

He was seeing the signs. But I refused to believe I couldn't handle this. She was what I wanted at the moment. Someone who has spent years working their ass off for this branch. And from her record, she has been here for some time.

I could also use her straight-to-the-point aura and blunt tongue. She wasn't the type to sugarcoat things and that was why I liked her. She was just perfect for the job.
