Chapter 38: Private jets and Anxiety.
KIKI.
I was panicking.
No, I wasn't kidding. I was panicking as I slipped my legs into the mini gown I had brought out to wear. I was late, behind time. Now, I've given Giovanni a reason to have my head.
I struggled with my zip, impatiently for a few seconds, trying to do it myself before I succeeded. I grabbed my old sandals to wear instead of the regular old heels. Hastily, I grabbed a band and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I didn't bother with makeup. I don't even wear it, anyway.
I grabbed my box, pulled down my curtains, and hurried out of the room towards Jojo. He had been waiting for me.
“You are going to stay with Grace for a few days, okay?” I raised my brow at him, straightening the old vest he had on.
“We already talked about this, Kiki.” He mentioned it more like a question. “I like Grace.” He told me shrugging. I stopped what I was doing to stare at him.
“Then be free with her, okay?” I told him. He nodded and as soon as he did that, I was grabbing the cookie box to shove them in his hands.
“Yes, Kiki.”He mumbled dryly. “I think you should leave now. The driver has been waiting outside for ages.” He informed me. I nodded and grabbed my box to leave but I stopped what I was doing, pressed a kiss to his cheeks, and hurried out.
“I'm so sorry, Pete,” I shouted as I rushed towards him. “I'm sorry.” I apologized. He didn't say anything, so I guessed he was pissed. Who wouldn't be?
He unlocked the car for me and I got in with my stuff. It wasn't my fault that I woke up late. After I left Grace yesterday, I was in my room packing when I got the urge to check out my blog. I lost track of time blogging. And here, was I, already late.
Pete got behind the wheels and started the car. He maneuvered his way out and we soon hit the road. “Pete?” I called out to him.
“Kiki, we are extremely late.” He cut me off my apologies.
“I know. I know.” I nodded, exhausted.
“Let's just hope the boss pardons us.” He mumbled. I sighed watching him drive. Throughout the ride, nothing else was said.
“We are here,” Pete informed me. I jerked up from my sleepy state. My eyes widened as I took in the place. I was at the Airport.
I pulled out of my sleepy state, grabbed my stuff, and alighted from the car. Pete stepped out too and began to lead me to where the boss is.
I was too worried to take note of the place. So, I followed Pete as quietly as I could while prepping myself silently to face the big boss. Pete stopped in front of a plane.
They were fewer people around with a sign board that stated the obvious. We were in the private plane section. I gasped, feeling anxiety build up in my system.
I always knew the Calistos were wealthy. Well, they had to be wealthy to own the company. And I heard that they are other branches around the world.
But now, standing at the airport and staring ahead at the plane I was to step into, I felt a rush of excitement. I had never been here before. I had never entered a plane before.
Now, the first time I was to get into one, it was a private plane. I was bubbling with joy, my earlier anxiety fading off.
“Ms.Kiki?” A man in a black suit walked up to me. I didn't even realize that I had stopped walking to fantasize.
“Yes?” I jolted my head at him. He smiled, making me relax. But his next words brought back the anxiety.
“Come with me, please. The boss has been waiting for you.” I nodded and followed him instantly, my heartbeat increasing. He led me up the stairs into the plane, handling my luggage.
My mouth went dry as I took in the beautiful space I had just stepped into. Right from the blue and gold cushions that my butt was desperately begging to be set on, my eyes moved to the center table and every other item that made it look like a living room, very homely.
“She's here, sir.” The man said. My head shot up towards the man and I visibly shuddered at the address.
He was sitting very calmly in a black suit, head buried in a business magazine, a glass of wine before him. His posture was rigid, almost like he was a sexy model striking a pose for a shoot. He looked sexily hot.
“We move then.” He mumbled, his deep husky tone sending a jolt of nerves to run up my spine. Damn, that voice could never get sexy enough. I haven't even met his eyes cos he was still reading through the magazine.
His posture screamed that he was furious at my lateness.
Gulping, I walked over to the couch adjacent to his seat and sat down. I didn't relax too, I sat up staring at him while wondering what to say first.
I didn't know if I should just apologize straight up or start it cool by greeting him. Crossing one leg over the other, I cleared my throat seeking his attention.
He barely spared me a glance. He didn't even acknowledge me.
So, I sat with my legs crossed looking everywhere else but him. Since the TV was on, I glued my eyes to it, seeking solace in the movie I wasn't interested in. Now and then, I spared him a glance.
Suddenly, I felt the plane start to move, ready to take off and I almost had a heart attack. While I had been busy fantasizing about me entering a plane for the first time, I had forgotten the most important part; That the plane was going to be in the air.
A loud screeching yelp erupted from my mouth when I felt us rising above, in the air.
“Use your seatbelts!" He ordered, his tone sharp and stern. I gulped, embarrassed, and quickly made use of my seat belt.
“Sorry." I apologized. But then, he didn't acknowledge me. I guess he was too pissed at me to want to speak to me. And so, I went quiet throughout the ride, managing to steady my racing heart.
I would try to get him to talk to me later. Right now, I had to deal with this anxiety.
