Chapter 53: Sister and Fiance.
KIKI.
When I turned around to see the owner of the voice that had spoken, I was beyond shocked to see Giovanni. That voice hadn’t sounded like his. He sounded and looked pissed.
I was confused when he started to talk about paying for my lawsuit and every other thing. Why was he here in the first place? Was he stalking me? Was Rose right?
I was dumbfounded.
“Gigi!” Fifi called out and I stood in shock. She knew him? “Gigs! Oh my God, it is you Gigs baby!” She squealed.
“Fifi?” Giovanni called back.
Okay, so they knew each other. They were familiar with each other. Why then was Fifi calling Gigi baby? I wasn’t getting it. I just wasn’t having it.
Rose rushed towards me and put her arm around me, sobbing. She must have been so scared that I was going to be locked up. I was scared too, Rose. I was.
The policemen let go of Jojo at the sight of a higher authority and Grace was quick to engulf him in a hug. I let go of Rose and moved to hug him, circling my hands around his body and urging him to stay calm. He listened to me like he always does.
Claire threw me a glare, obviously not happy about the turn of events. I matched her evil glare with mine too. She had to get it right back.
I let my eyes fall on Fifi and my boss. Fifi was now hugging him tightly, pressing her chest to his in a desperate manner that didn’t go unnoticed by me. It was a struggle as I saw Gigi’s folded hands struggling to keep hold instead of placing them on her back to steady her.
The way Fifi was on about it, it made me suspicious that she could be Gigi’s ex but maybe, they still use each other for sexual pleasures or they were still dating each other.
Rose passed me a glance asking what was going on but I just shrugged slightly with my eyes on the duo. They were still hugging even though Gigi looked like he was done with it but Fifi still had her body pressed to his.
When she finally let him go, she pulled back and stopped beside him, her face softer and happier. “I never knew I was going to meet you like this, Gigs.” She started, a triumphant look plastered on her face.
“I arrived earlier. Dad thinks it’s a good idea to set up a branch here for our company in New York so I’m here to see the dreams being actualized.” She explained.
“But it’s a struggle. I barely know anyone here cos I’ve never been here. Anyway, I set up some meetings with some investors who I know are interested in what we do. The building is under construction. It has been like that now for a couple of weeks. So, in summary, I came to supervise and put things in order.” She was grinning now.
“I knew you were in New York but I didn’t know where. I was planning on paying you a surprise visit at Calisto but it looked like you found me first. How sweet!” She cooed teasingly and pulled at his cheeks not even bothered about the fact that he wasn’t saying a word.
“By the way, what brought you here? And why are you here talking about paying some lawsuit charges and all?” She asked with a raised brow.
I almost hissed loudly. I would have missed it if I didn’t remember that I was yet to get out of one squabble so I shouldn’t add another one. The whole thing was starting to get me mad.
If Gigi hadn’t walked in when he did, I would have given up my honor. I would have knelt at her feet to seek forgiveness from a person who didn’t merit it. It was infuriating how my self-esteem wasn’t valued. Very infuriating that the poor are seen as nothing. All because of money.
It was even more infuriating that the person I think of as my sister was the one behind all of this. Yes, Fiorella had done all this to me.
“So, how do you even know her?” I flashed back to the present. Fifi was still talking but Gigi was yet to say a word.
“She is my employee.” He replied in a monotone. “I heard she got into trouble with a lady so I came here to see what can be done.” He added.
“Awww, my baby!” She cooed again. “If that isn’t sweet of you, I don’t know what else is.” Then she moved closer and placed her hand on his chest.
“This is one of the reasons I love you, Gigs. You have a good heart. You care about everyone around you.” She smiled at him and he smiled back. She felt elated, I could see.
“But this employee of yours deserves every bit of punishment.” She announced as she passed me a glance. Gigi looked up and our eyes locked. The first eye contact in days. I hadn’t seen him since I got off the plane.
It was hard to understand his expression. He had an impassive look on so I couldn’t read him. However, his eyes bore holes into me so much that they made me uncomfortable. I ended up looking away.
“You won’t believe it Gigs but she hit me! On my face! Can you believe that?” She exclaimed, trying to play the victim.
“I didn’t even do anything to her. She had the guts to raise her hand to my face. All for nothing! I don’t know how you keep up with employees like her. She seems to have a demented mentality.” She told him.
Gigi sighed but said nothing. Then, she looked up with a sly smile on her face.
“To whom this may concern,” She had her lips tucked with her eyes trained on me like she knew that whatever she wanted to say was going to affect me. “I forgot an introduction. This is Giovanni.” She beamed. “Giovanni Calisto, my fiancee.” She announced.
