43. Coming for you
Oren's pov
I ran as fast as I could to reach the portal. Amaya told me to bring everyone to the Water Kingdom, as it was the closest to the exit. In case she was caught, I needed to do this. But I could just not let her fight alone.
The women and girls were exhausted, but I did not let them rest. We were now just a few minutes away from the Water Kingdom borders.
They stopped, breathing heavily and fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry, Oren, but we cannot continue like this." The older woman said, looking at the others then to the ground.
I walk towards her and place my hand on her shoulder.
"Is, ok. You are safe now, but I can't stop. Amaya needs me. She needs all of us." I said with a small smile and sadness in my heart.
"Of course. You go. We will rest for a while. And Oren. Bring her back!"
"I will! I promise, I said. Wait here; some of the water elementals will come to help you."
I start running again. My legs were numb and bleeding, but I couldn't stop. I needed to get back to Amaya.
"Who are you?" One of the guards asked when he noticed me.
"Is it me, Oren Wood, Prince of Earth Kingdom?" I said without stopping.
"Forgive me, your Majesty! I didn't mean to be rude. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Where is King Kano?" That was all I said while running past him.
"He should be in the palace now!"
When he said that, I started pushing harder. I need him to help me.
"Kano! Kano!" I shout as soon as I step into the palace.
"Prince Oren, what a surprise. How can I help you?" An older woman said, exciting the kitchen.
I looked at her only to realise it was her, Wilme, Amaya's grandmother.
"Wilme! Where is Kano! I need to talk to him. It is urgent." I ask without mentioning her niece.
"The King is into his office, Prince Oren. I will show you to him."
"Do not bother, Wilme; I remember this place very well."
I smile softly at her and run to the stairs.
"Kano!" I shout when I open his office's door without bothering to knock.
In the time we spent together we got to know each other pretty well. I can call him my friend. After all, he was Evolet's brother.
"Oren! My friend, what a surprise! What are you doing here?" He asks, smiling, happy to see me.
"I need your help, Kano! It is Amaya! She needs us. Please send someone to the Fire Kingdom to tell Evolet this. The faster man you have."
I told him everything that was happening, and he was watching me with an open mouth, not saying a word.
"Kano? Do you hear what I am saying?"
"I do, Oren! I thought about how those girls have so much shit in their lives—First Evolet, now Amaya. I will send my man straight away. Will you wait for them here?"
"No, Kano! I need to go back! She needs me. That bitch if Cora is strong. If she ends up back at that palace, I don't know what is going to happen."
"I see. Then I will go with you! You and Amaya are my friends. Just let me send someone to Evolet, then we can go.
He opened the door for us to get out of the room, but we stopped in our tracks
"Hello, brothers! Oren, what are you doing here? Where is Amaya?!" Evolet asks, confused.
"Seems like we can go now, Oren," Kano said, patting my back.
Amaya's pov
"Amaya, no! Please do not do this!" Anna said in a pleading voice, falling on her knees while tears were streaming down her face.
"It is ok, Anna. I am much stronger than you. I will be alright. You need to get out of here."
I didn't believe myself when I said that. But I needed to be strong in front of them. I wasn't afraid. Not even dying was scaring me now. But I know I am not that strong.
"Leon, you know what you have to do. Now go!" I said in my Alpha voice, knowing that this is the only way to make them leave.
Dozens of men come to surround me. I was now a prisoner in my home. The members of my pack were watching, terrified, as Mateo started hitting me. He was an Alpha, so there was nothing they could do.
"How is that, bitch?" He asks when his fist collided with my jaw.
Blood floods my mouth, and I spit at him smirking. If he tries to break me, I will not make it easy.
"Was that a punch? Oh, Mateo! I am so disappointed with you. Even a five-year-old can hit harder than this.
I know this made him angrier, but this is what I was hoping to happen.
Because when he is angry, he is acting on impulse.
He raised his arm again and swung his fist towards my face, but I quickly sent two small ice arrows to it.
" How is that, Mateo?" I ask, smirking.
I start coughing due to the lack of oxygen. I knew that I needed to take Cora down before I could deal with Mateo.
"Oh, is the little boy in trouble, and the good big sister is saving his ass again? I can see that you are the brain here, Cora. But I do not understand why you aren't the Alpha? You are more fitted for the position. Oh! I know. It is because you are a woman, isn't it?"
"Shut up! Do not listen to her, Cora! She is just trying to get to your head! Do you hear me?"
Mateo said.
"Well, then let's see which one of us is stronger. This is if you are not afraid of me." I continue to say. Hoping she will accept this, as it was my only chance to get out of here.
"So, what do you say, Cora?"
