6. Healer
"I... I don't know what I am anymore, Leon! I'm so sorry! I should not have come here!" I said and turned around to leave, but he grabbed my hand and stopped me.
"Don't be sorry, Amaya! I am glad that I have met you! I was so... lonely before. So, please stay?" he said, sounding more like a question.
"But the rogues! What if more will come, Leon?"
"They will! You can be sure of that. But we will fight them all. Plus, I was planning to show you the pack! I'm sure you will love it!"
I was about to say that I would love to do that when he falls to the ground. His eyes went into the back of his head, and his body was shaking uncontrollably.
"Leon! Leon, what's wrong?!" I shouted, but he was too weak to answer.
'Ivy, I need you for this, please!' I said to my wolf, grabbing his arms and pulling him up.
'Of course, Amaya!'
I feel the power she was transferred to me to carry Leon's heavy body inside the house.
His body stopped shaking, but he was looking so pale, and his veins were now black and looked ready to pop out.
"Leon, do you hear me? What is happening?"
'He has been poisoned! The blade was silver which can be deadly for our kind. But the worst thing is that there was also wolfsbane on it.' Ivy said in a sad voice.
'What do I do now?' I ask her, desperate.
'You need to take it out, Amaya! Otherwise, he will be dead before the sun comes up.'
'But how do I do it, Ivy? Did you forget that I even knew about werewolves till yesterday?'
'You are a healer and a good one! Just do what you know to do better than anything else!' she said and went in the back of my mind.
"Think Amaya! Think!" I said, pacing back and forth.
Suddenly, Leon starts convulsing violently, his lips were blue, and his now pale skin made the inflamed veins look more prominent.
"Leon! Please hold on for me!" I said in a pleading voice.
I couldn't think about anything better, so I used my power to control the water in the hope that I could extract the wolfsbane from his system.
Believing that being a liquid, I should be able to do that.
Placing my hands over his wound, I close my eyes, focusing on the problem at hand.
"Please make this work!" I whisper to no one in particular.
'Amaya, you know that if this works, your system can absorb all the wolfsbane. And we don't know how your body will react.' Ivy's worried voice came through the mind link.
'I know, Ivy! But I will not let him die because of me!'
I push Ivy back into my mind and try to focus even harder on extracting that horrible substance from Leon's body.
A burning sensation makes me open my eyes. When I look at my hands, I notice that they were covered in a yellow-green liquid. It was the wolfsbane getting out of my friend's system and entering mine.
I hissed in pain when the burning became unbearable, but I didn't stop.
Colour was coming back to Leon's skin, and his veins returned to normal as soon as his body stopped shaking.
Dizziness overtook me, and I fell to the floor. I was inhaling and exhaling hard as my lungs felt like they were on fire.
My skin was red and hot, so by instinct, I started drawing water from nearby in every form possible.
I sighed in relief when the coldness touched my skin, and I could see steam getting out.
"Amaya? What have you done?" Came Leon half worried, half annoyed.
"Hi, Leon! I'm so glad to have you back." I said in a weak voice.
He kneels next to me and places his hand on my forehead.
"Moon Goddess, you're burning. You shouldn't have done that, Amaya! Your body is different. Who knows what will happen to you now!"
He lifted me bridal style, and I figured he was carrying me up the stairs.
I heard a door open and water running before he placed me down.
"I will need to go grab some ice!" Leon said and turned to run to the kitchen. But I stopped him.
"Wait! Please don't leave me alone, Leon! Please!" I said, grabbing his hand.
He stops and kneels back next to me.
"But I need to make your temperature come down, Amaya! Otherwise, you..." he starts saying, but I moved my free hand and froze some of the water.
"Wow! This is so cool. I heard a lot about the elementals but never saw one before." he said with excitement, lifting and placing me into the cold water.
"How come that you know about my kind, but I don't know about yours?" I ask after a few moments when the burning sensation diminished.
"I don't know that! But we have a lot of stories about elemental wolves. I was always so fascinated..."
"Elemental wolves? Not elemental humans?" I ask, interrupting him.
"What do you mean by humans? As if humans could use the element and not the wolf? Well, this is true."
"No, Leon! As if there was no wolf at all... just the human."
He looked at me confused, opening and closing his mind.
"Where I came from, all the people could control one element. Well, all a part of my friend, Evolet. She can control everything. But we never saw a wolf before... I heard about them in legends... about the ferocious beasts. But in my world, they do not exist. So when I suddenly transformed into one... well, I ran away, hurt and scared. They were afraid of me, Leon!"
He wiped the tears that were now streaming on my face and gave me a weak smile.
"Is ok, Amaya! You are ok now! No one will look at you like that here. And if they do, I am sure to kick their sorry asses."
I looked at him, and we burst into laughter.
"As soon as you feel good enough to shift, I will show you the pack! I am sure they will adore you!"
