7. Friend
"Here, put this on while I make some tea for us," Leon said, entering the bathroom, fully clothed.
He was wearing black jeans and a dark blue t-shirt, making his eyes look like emeralds in the sunlight.
His mate will be lucky to have him; always kind and energetic even after he was one step away from dying; he still smiles as nothing happened.
"Thank you, Leon! I will be there in two." I said, waiting for him to exit the room so I can get dressed. Not that he hasn't seen me naked till about thirty minutes ago, but this doesn't mean I need to walk like this in front of him. He is a man, after all. And I respect him.
I put on the black jeans and the white t-shirt that he left for me on the bed, and I made my way downstairs.
"Mm... this smells so good!" I said as soon as the herbal tea hits my nose.
"I'm glad to know you like it! How do you feel?" he asked, pouring the hot drink into cups?
"I'm fine now, thank you! It seems like the wolfsbane and silver doesn't affect me that much!"
"Yeah... which is weird enough for a wolf. But thinking that you are not just a wolf might explain all of this," he said, coming towards the table where I was sitting and placing the cups in front of me.
"Thank you, Leon! You are always so kind."
" Is my pleasure. You saved my life, so this is at least what I can do to thank you!" he said with a small smile.
"You didn't expect me to let you die, didn't you?"
"Well... many would have chosen that."
"Yeah... but not me."
"Thank you, Amaya! By the way, do you have any idea who your parents are?"
I took a sip from the hot drink and closed my eyes for a second.
"I knew my mom. She was a water elemental and a healer. Later I found out that she was also a Guardian of Celestia like all the women in my family. She was killed when I was three. As for my father, I never met or heard anything about him. But now I can say he is a werewolf. This will explain everything."
"Wow!" was all he said before clearing his throat.
"I mean, I'm sorry for your mother's death. But your life seems so interesting. What is a Guardian of Celestia?"
"Hmm... how to explain it to you?" I said, thinking of the best way to tell him.
"Moon Goddess! Your life is quite an adventure!"
"Well, Leon, I don't know about that! But I need to find out who I am? Who I truly am..."
Tears were stinging the corner of my eyes, and my bottom lip was trembling. I had too much already. And it seems like this will not end soon.
"Hey, hey! Amaya, I'm here, and I'm going to help you! I promised you that. Besides, my life was quite boring till now. And... it will be more likely to find my mate if I travel more."
"Thank you, Leon!"
"No, don't thank me yet. Now, come on, off to bed. I see you are feeling good enough, so tomorrow morning, I will take you to the Black Moon Pack, my pack. Mom will surely love you. But she can be pretty annoying sometimes."
He gets up from his chair and starts laughing.
"Oh...and wait till you meet my brother. He is such a dumb ass... but he is my little brother!"
"Brother? You didn't mention you have one!"
"Well... I didn't get the chance to."
"True!" I said, getting the empty cup from his hand and heading to the sink to wash it.
I like it here. They have so much helpful stuff.
"So, good night then!" I said to Leon after we got upstairs.
"Good night, Amaya! And do not hesitate to come to me if you need anything," he said before entering his room, and I nod.
As soon as I slumped on the bed, my body gave up.
'Good night, Ivy!'
'Good night, Amaya!'
I am woken up by Ivy's loud voice.
'Amaya! Get up! It's morning already!'
'What the hell is wrong with you?' I ask her, burying my head in the pillow.
'We are going to pack today! I can't help it. I am so excited about this!' she shouts, pacing back and forth.
'Hold on, Ivy! We will get there, but let me sleep just a little more.'
'How can you sleep? Aren't you excited too? You will finally get to see a pack, a real one, and you still want to sleep? Have you thought that we can find our mate there?' she asks, more excited.
I jumped off the bed when I realised what she just said.
'What?! Our mate?'
'Yes! The one and only!'
'Don't say that! There is Oren too. I told you that he is my soulmate.'
'Yeah... sure, Oren!'
'Ivy!' I shout, annoyed by her disrespect.
'What?! If he is truly your soulmate, why is he not here with us, uh? We could have died so many times already? Where is he? Why isn't he next to us protecting us, loving us, uh? I'll tell you why! Because he doesn't! He is scared of us, Amaya! This is all I saw that day in his eyes, fear! Do you hear me? Fear, not love!'
I slid down next to my bed and brought my knee to my chest.
'You are right, Ivy!' I said in a slow voice when tears started flooding my eyes. I cover my face with my hands, and I let it out. All the pain and betrayal that was poisoning my heart.
'They didn't love me! That's why they didn't come to look for me!' I said again.
'Oh, Amaya! I'm so sorry. Maybe I shouldn't say that.'
'No, Ivy! Don't be! This is the truth. Even if it is hurting me, it is true all of what you just said.'
"Amaya! Come on! We need to go! Breakfast is ready!" Leon said, knocking on the door.
"Amaya? Are you alright?" He asked again when I didn't answer.
The door burst open in the next moment, and a distraught Leon came in.
"Amaya! What is wrong?" He asks, kneeling next to me.
Instead of answering, I threw myself in his arms. All I needed now was to cry.
"Oh, poor Amaya! Shhh, it's ok! Everything will be just fine! I'm your friend, and I will always be here. Ok?" he said, brushing my hair with one hand while the other was placed on my back.
