Chapter 3

A black Mercedes Benz that was followed by a fleet of Range Rovers was pulled in front of the Knight Corporation. A group of men dressed in black suits and wearing Bluetooth earpieces and black shades immediately stepped out of their cars and covered the Mercedes Benz. One of the men opened the door and a shining black shoe came into view. The clicking of cameras and flashes increased rapidly as a man of 6’3” donning a dapper Armani Suit climbed out of the car in all his glory.

The people gasped in shock as they were awestruck by the Greek God. His jet-black hair was coiffed perfectly. Their hearts twitched as they couldn’t see his beautiful eyes that were hidden behind the ray ban but the billionaire was successful in stealing hearts with his mesmerizing features. His straight nose, perfect jawline, knife-shaped pink lips, high cheekbones, and five o’clock shadow had all the girls drooling. Buttoning up his suit, the handsome hunk acknowledged the paparazzi with a stiff nod that was going berserk with his Adonis-like features. His bodyguards immediately crowded in on him and escorted him safely inside the building.

Emma was busy typing on her laptop when she heard loud voices coming from downstairs. She ignored them at first but her curiosity whetted when they kept turning louder and louder with every ticking second.

Stacy, her colleague quickly came running to her, “Emmaline, let’s go. The CEO has arrived,” she chirped and immediately slammed her laptop shut. Emma narrowed his eyes at her, not approving of her behavior. But Stacy ignored her blazing eyes and intertwined their hands before pulling her up to her feet.

“Oh, come on, Miss Workaholic. You can complete them later. Let’s go,” she grumbled and dragged Emma outside.

Stacy had always been good to her. Although Emma doesn’t like making friends, Stacy was the only one who befriended her with no personal gains. Also, her vivacity and kindness thawed her cold heart. Emma is indulgent with Stacy but sometimes her goofiness gets on her nerves.

The office of the technical team was on the second floor. Emma and Stacy also joined their staff who were jumping and pushing each other to earn a glance at the luminary. Emma wormed her way in and stood near the pillar. She then pulled Stacy and covered her protectively from the wild crowd. Though Stacy was four years older than her, Emma always acted as the big sister, and she was the younger one. Like right now, Stacy was clinging onto Emma like a child and kept blabbering about how excited she was to see the CEO.

Suddenly a swarm of people bustled inside from the entrance. Emma closed her eyes when a girl shrieked in her left ear. She moved aside only to hiss in pain as Stacy stepped on her left foot.

“Wow!! Damien Knight. He’s so hot.”

Emma slightly pushed her as Stacy was standing on her foot to get a better view of the heartthrob. But Stacy fisted her shirt more tightly making her groan in annoyance.

Sophia Turner, the managing director of Knight Corporation stepped forward to welcome the mogul, “Welcome, Mr. Knight”, she greeted and shook hands with him. That’s when Emma’s gaze landed on the rose gold Patek Philippe watch on his right wrist.

“He’s a lefty,” she murmured. Stacy nodded frantically.

“Yeah, and he’s so handsome. I just can’t see his face properly,” she whined while tiptoeing.

“Then how can you say he’s handsome? But yeah, that guy is filthy rich.” Emma said while eyeing him from head to toe. The guy was loaded with branded items from top to bottom. His aura screamed money, power, and dominance. Emma silently stared at his taut muscles that flexed when he shook hands and accepted the bouquets from people. The guy was a gym freak, there was no doubt about that.

Her ocean orbs soon landed on Claire who was trying to get close to the millionaire. Emma smirked and shook his head.

“God, I can’t see anything. Emma, let’s go downstairs,” Stacy spoke and tried to drag Emma but she simply removed her hand from her hold and moved back.

“You go alone. I need to do work.”

With that Emma excused herself and started leaving while Stacy stared at her back in shock.

“Hey!! Ahh, she’s such a spoilsport.” she gritted and quickly headed downstairs.

Emma rounded to the left and started heading to her workplace. She leisurely glanced downstairs only to see people hounding Damien. Unlike her colleagues, she could easily see everything in detail.

Emma couldn’t resist the urge to smile when she noticed his pissed face.

“He looks so frustrated. He wouldn’t be more than 27. How come he became a CEO at such a young age? He must have taken his father’s position. Money and power can make people worship a dumbo even.” She kept talking to herself.

“I bet his cheekbones would be aching badly from smiling too much. I pity you, Richie Rich.”

Emma jumped on her spot when Damien abruptly lifted his head and looked straight at her. He was still wearing shades but Emma knew he was only looking at her. Damien then very gently removed his ray bans and that’s when she was met with the most beautiful pair of grey eyes. Her eyes slowly raked all over his face. He was indeed handsome.

A frown settled on her brows when Damien didn’t avert his gaze and kept at staring her without blinking. Emma looked behind to see if he was looking at someone else but found no one. She gulped and again peered at him only to see his dark gaze pinned on her. The people around him were also confused by his demeanor and followed his gaze. Emma quickly hid behind the pillar as she didn’t want to become a subject of gossip. Her heart was beating at an erratic pace. It was so sudden that she even forgot to breathe. Placing her palm on her chest, she took deep breaths as she was indeed scared.

“Let’s go Mr. Knight.” Sophia’s voice proved as a remedy for Emma as she only wanted him to leave at the moment.

Emma then slightly peeked from the pillar. A sigh escaped her lips when Damien nodded and followed Sophia’s trail. She closed her eyes as relief washed over her but the moment, she opened them; they again got connected with his steel ones.

Rage bubbled inside her at the audacity of a human who dare to intimidate her. Emma clenched her jaw and shoot him a glare. Her brows puckered in confusion when Damien mouthed something to her. She focused her attention on his lips but the moment his words registered in her mind; her blood turned cold.

“Thanks for your concern, Honey.”
