Chapter 4

Humans.

Fucking, I hate these bootlicking species. I was already pissed and those continuous flashes turned me blind. Taking the bouquets and greeting these jerks with fake smiles made me go nuts.

I told Dad, I fucking told him I don't want to come here but no, he had to delegate all responsibilities to me.

I am 25 and am still mateless. But unlike my buddy Scar who cries every night for his mate, I am happy that I am still free from this unwanted responsibility. I don't do commitments nor do I believe in love shits. The life of a bachelor was good. Engaging in carousal, hanging with friends, looking after my pack, and running in the woods without any care seemed more enticing to me rather than babysitting a girl.

Girls are like a nightmare and I hope Moon Goddess keeps me mateless till eternity. Or until I meet a girl who matches my taste. Who would be headstrong, bold, mature, and fierce. It will be fine with me if she isn’t beautiful, all I need is a girl who can handle my pack and can take the responsibility of the Luna of the Shadowed Banes. She shouldn’t be like the mates of my friends who are a just bunch of annoying and spineless cake faces and need a man to protect them. I don't even know why they call themselves wolves when they don't even utilize their powers.

My Dad never allowed any she-wolf to enter the training academy. The women in our pack aren't allowed to fight. They are expected only to produce cubs and pleasure their men. That’s seriously too disgusting but the shocking part is that no one even objects.

Dad is a misogynist. I don't support his ideology but in my 25 years of life, I had also never come across a girl who is capable to break his bigoted beliefs. Who doesn't need a man to survive and can tackle down his opponent and break all the fingers which are pointed at her. Sadly, my mother also doesn’t possess an ounce of such abilities. She tried to settle me up with girls that possess the traits of an ideal wife but I always turned down her offer. The thought of carrying a girl who is the replica of my other mother is enough to freeze my blood.

Earlier, I used to wait for the girl of my dreams but with the passing years, I realized that they don’t exist. I lost hope and put a full stop to my dreams. I don't want a mate because I don't want to become her bodyguard. Those innocent and fragile girls only beguile men with charms and then spend their life siphoning off their money. They aren’t even ashamed to live like a parasite. Also, I was scared for my future. Being an Alpha King, I would have tons of responsibilities on my shoulders and I can’t afford to have a nagging bitch stuck to my hip like glue 24/7.

But you must be wondering what business would an Alpha King has with humans if he left his pack and came to New York. So, let’s head onto that.

It all started five years ago. We had a huge gathering to celebrate my coronation day. I was crowned as the new Alpha King of Shadowed Banes, the most powerful and deadliest pack of the Northern Valley. Scar, my wolf and my buddy, was on top of the world. I was partying with my friends when Zion, my Beta ruined our fun with his shocking news. He told Dad that the daughter of Edward, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, who was killed along with his entire pack several years ago, is still alive and is hiding in New York.

Dad had told me about Edward’s betrayal. He was Dad’s friend but to expand his empire and get an upper hand, he secretly allied with rogues to conquer the Northern Valley. To save us, Dad planned an attack to punish that bastard for collusion and wiped out that disgrace from the face of the earth. Unfortunately, his daughter survived and was saved by Blake, Alpha of the Vengeful Hunters. When our spies came to know that his blood was still alive, Blake made that girl flee and since then Dad had been looking for her.

Finally, his spies tracked the Princess’ hideout. She was in New York. Dad then assigned me the responsibility to erase the last member of the Silver Moon Pack. After months of whacking my brain, I finally came up with a mind-blowing plan.

Born with a silver spoon I always got everything within a snap of my fingers. My ancestors had left treasures and stacks of gold so money has never been a problem for me. To make a name in the human world, I started my own company, Knight Corporation in New York. Though I hated to even breathe in the same air as humans, I didn't have a choice but follow my father's commands. I had a good knack for business and hired the best staff. In a few years, my company rose to heights and became the Tech Hub of New York. I really feel so proud of myself to see the success of my company but knowing that I had to leave it one day makes me depressed. I am not gullible I wouldn't understand Dad's games. It's all a trap to capture the Princess. Sometimes, Dad’s interference exasperates me but he made me who I am today. Even after having boulders of responsibilities on his head, Dad didn't leave any stone unturned to chisel me. Be it my education or my training, he always provided me with the best. So, it is his right to control my life. Moreover, whatever he does is for my good which leaves no room for conflict.

I don’t know her identity yet but I know she must have disguised herself to save her ass. But I must applaud her skills. How cleverly she hid her identity for years but for how long she could stay hidden? One day I would hunt her down and the day I finish her off, I’ll gladly return home, back to my peaceful and adventurous life.

I smirked at the futile attempts of those plastic dolls who had surrounded me like bees. I was used to this attention. The mates of my friends even tried to get their hands on me and used to flirt with me. But I can't blame them either. Who wouldn’t go crazy for a Greek God?

I knew the drill beforehand. The women here tried to touch me and some more daring ones passed me seductive smirks. Scar was losing his gourd as he had always been very protective of me. But I calmed him down. I can’t let him overpower my senses and meddle with my plans.

Mr. Collins, the senior manager turned into my savior for tonight. Protecting me from those leeches, he escorted me inside.

No sooner did I enter the building than a sweet fragrance of vanilla entered my nostrils. It was so strong and magical that made my senses go haywire.

"Can you feel it, Damien?", Scar murmured as he took a large whiff of that sweet aroma. I didn't reply to him and focused my attention on my employees. But that redolence tantalized my nerves. It was so delicious and soothing that I couldn’t help but relish it.

Darting my eyes around, I began my research to find the source of that divine smell when my gaze landed on the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen in my life. She looked as if she had straight come out of a storybook. Her dazzling blue eyes held my eyes captive. The rogue strands of silver hair kissing her cheeks and her heart-shaped pink lips got printed in my mind. She looked like a real doll and I couldn’t help but stare at her.

‘Angel’, Scar whispered.

Indeed, she was. Lost in her beauty, I kept gawking at her when she abruptly turned her heels and started leaving. I was shocked. The doll wasn’t intrigued by my charms instead she looked bored. What the hell!

Her baby face itself says she won't be more than sixteen. I didn't know the recruiters of my company had started to employ kids. My jaw clenched as I listened to her bullshits while her eyes kept looking at me with disdain.

Where girls were swooning over my charms, this teen got the balls to show me attitude?

My blood boiled in fury. Narrowing my eyes into thin slits, I shot her the deadliest glare. The kid got horrified and I bet she was also shocked as to how come I found out her badmouthing me. I sealed my lips in a thin when that doll hid behind the pillar like a scared pigeon.

Cute.

‘Wait, what?’

Sophia's words pulled me from my trance. After ending her speech, she then asked for my permission to show me my office. I nodded and we soon headed to the elevator but a strong urge to see that doll filled my senses. I again shifted my eyes back to her only to stop dead in my track. She was glaring at me.

‘This brat’

Suddenly an idea popped into my mind.

I smirked in triumph at her paled face when I mouthed those words to her. I think that’ll be enough for her today. At least, she would never dare to mess with me in the future.

Turning around I then headed to my office as Sophia led my way.
