Chapter 92 : Jealousy Whispers 2
Xavier
She must have heard the strange tone in his voice because she looked at him strangely. All he secretly wanted was for her to speak, to answer, to put him out of his misery, because he had to know for sure that it was over for them, even if it would only be the beginning of his despair, he was sure. And hopelessness was what he felt. A miserable and unexciting feeling. A feeling he couldn't escape even if he tried.
"Who? Rylan of course," she said with some surprise, as if the answer was obvious, and maybe it was, but not to his clouded mind.
"Rylan," he repeated stupidly.
Now it was her that seemed desperate, her face showing more than just sorrow as she took a hesitant step towards him.
"I meant it back then when I said I wanted to be with you," she wailed, her hands raised and clutched to her chest as if her heart was aching as much as his. Eventually, a surge of hope washed over the pain and lifted him out of his agony.
"Please, you have to believe me," she begged, speaking quickly as if afraid he would cut her off.
Then she lunged at him, crashing into his broad chest, her dark brown hair flying. Xavier grabbed her and held her tightly against his chest, even though he still couldn't find his voice to speak. The relief he felt was overwhelming, but as he felt the pressure ease from his chest, Karen seemed to absorb the emotion and take it into herself. Or had she always felt like this when she had run through the forest with him after the confrontation with Rylan and Xavier hadn't noticed because he had been too wrapped up in his own despair? But what did she have to be so afraid of? He would find out soon enough.
"Please don't misunderstand what you just saw, I beg you. I didn't want you to think that I would choose Rylan over you again because I won't!" She pulled back slightly to look at him, and he felt her arms wrap around his neck as she leaned closer, pulling his head closer to hers.
"I choose you, Xavier Westwood," she said through tears, pulling him further away before kissing him desperately on the lips, taking him as much by surprise as she did.
It was then that his mind instantly clicked with what she had said, answering his questions about her actions and her pained expression. She thought Xavier would misunderstand her impromptu cuddling with his younger brother, thinking with carelessness she didn't realize that he would see her actions as her avoiding Xavier for another. What else? She thought she had ruined the relationship between them, fearing that Xavier had finally had enough and was ready to give her the freedom she had wanted and demanded since she came here. Until now.
Hence, her lips and tongue finding their way into his mouth is more desperation than skill. Her sexual assault - if it could be called that - took Xavier by surprise. He knew he should pull away and reassure her that everything was okay between them now that he understood how she felt, that those feelings were in line with his feelings, but that was impossible to do with her mouth locked on his. Although unskilled at the moment, the contact made his body stiffen with all its needs.
Stalling a little longer, wanting to sip the sweet nectar from the inner recesses of her mouth, Xavier cupped the back of her head, tilting her head to get a better angle and pressing harder against her seeking lips, taking control. Xavier opens his mouth and thrusts his tongue deep into her moist cavern, dueling with her tongue, fighting for dominance as her desperation makes her just as aggressive as him. He took over her mouth with a skill that far exceeded her own, as he nipped and sucked on her plump lower lip and her tongue.
Fuck, he craves this touch as much as Karen, who is so desperate to make that connection and prove to both of them, to everyone, that Karen belongs to him. Only his. He knew what she was doing, trying to claim her as his own as he had done to her on so many other occasions. It aroused his lust, making it even harder for him to back down, but he did so with reluctance.
She then tried to follow him back, trying to pull him back to her with her newfound strength, with her grip on his neck, but Xavier was and always would be the physically stronger of the two.
"Please, Xavier," she pleaded hoarsely as Xavier easily managed to pull away a few inches, and looked into his eyes.
"Stop it, Karen," he murmured.
She paused, anxiety evident in her gaze as she still hadn't realized what he was thinking. That she was afraid of losing Xavier to this extent - a fear as great as his own - had brought her down because there was nothing else she could do. Surely this proves that he means a lot to her, right?
"Don't be afraid, Karen," he told her in a deep, gentle tone as he shared his breath with her, bringing her breath into his lungs. "I have no intention of giving you to anyone else. I never will."
She continued to look into his eyes as if she was afraid of being deceived. While Xavier did not let her doubts affect him negatively, he only returned her gaze with a straight, possessive, and sincere look. An instant relief came to her as she read his silent message, and the tension left her body.
"Oh My Moon Goddess," she said in a stifled voice. "I was so worried that you might think I was rejecting you."
As if she wanted to say more, Xavier did not wait for her to continue, but immediately sealed her mouth with his lips and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, forcing her to cling to him. There was no room between them. Only their clothes separated them, and at that moment the clothes felt tight. They were on their way to the touch he craved, but once again, as before, he tempered the lust that was welling up inside him, not wanting to take advantage of her dazed state and do more than she was aware of before it was too late to stop and turn back.
But the thought of her carrying his pup crossed his mind. He wanted that in their future. Not just to create an offspring and an heir, as he had always thought, but to create a family - with Karen.
He would have marked her with his betrothal mark to her if they had continued their relationship. As much as he wanted to do that, he had to make her physically his. It was difficult to pull away once again, to take her hand and release it from his neck. He held her wrist like a shield as if it were the only barrier preventing him from tasting her further.
Xavier pressed his forehead against hers. As her eyes closed, so did his.
"I wouldn't take you right now, Karen, even if you asked me to. Not like this."
She nodded her head slightly in his direction, seeming to understand what he meant. Both of their emotions were too high right now. Neither of them wanted to regret what they had done and what they felt for each other. Gently, Xavier kissed her forehead and held his lips there for a few seconds before pulling them back.
"We should go back to the pack house," he said regretfully. Despite his sincere intentions, he wanted to stay here with her for a while.
"I think I need to be alone for a few minutes, Xavier."
He backed away from her, not understanding why she needed to be separated from him after what had just happened between them. Surely she didn't regret her actions, did she? Once again, the doubt crept into his mind like a disease, and he hated to see it. He didn't like to be confused or uncertain in any situation, especially in this one.
It seemed as if she had seen something in his expression that hinted at his thoughts.
She shook her head, a beautiful little smile on her face, and her tiny hand lifted to his face, and he could feel her hand tracing his face over his cheekbone. He instinctively nuzzled into her soft touch.
"It's not what you think," she murmured. "I just need a few minutes to calm down before I meet my friend. Please?"
How could she read his thoughts so easily? Had he completely lost the ability to hide his thoughts and feelings? Or was there some deeper meaning? As if she really knew him better?
Since it was she who asked him, and since she was in a relatively safe place in his pack house, he reluctantly nodded his head.
"I'll call the guard. He will escort you to me."
Alas, Xavier hated to think of their little goodbye, but he allowed it to happen.
With a grateful smile on her face, Karen smiled back at him once more and whispered her thanks to him. With one last look, looking deep into the eyes of the woman he cherished, Xavier turned and walked into the forest at full speed. It took him less than a minute to cover the distance at a speed below his capabilities. A few minutes later, a guard came up to his mate. And Karen belonged to him.
He decided to wait for Karen in the courtyard, not wanting to enter the pack house without her by his side.
