Chapter 15 The Brutal Bite

He suddenly moved away from me, growled, grew his canine teeth larger, and attacked my neck by grabbing my hair and tugging my head back, startling me as I was completely engrossed in the heavenly kiss. My eyes dilated in horror.

Since I was sure he wouldn't kill me and that he was only trying to show me that he was a monster and had no feelings for me after the kiss, I made up my mind that I wouldn't give up. I decided not to push him and braced myself to endure the excruciating pain instead.

I pursed my lips and squeezed my eyes shut to keep my screams at bay, while tears streamed down my cheeks because it was hurting me so much. He was sucking the blood after clenching my skin with his teeth, and I let him do what he was doing. I didn't scream or try to push him away; instead, I stood there like a lifeless soul, bearing all the pain.

Almost thirty seconds later, which felt like thirty hours, as he groaned irritably and pushed me away, I pressed my bleeding neck with my hand, dying with pain and feeling dizzy.

‘Fuck! It is hurting me like hell.’

Only I knew how I kept myself from screaming.

His eyes were full of remorse as he stared at me and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. I was certain that he was suffering more than I was because witnessing a loved one suffer is the most agonising experience. Moreover, he was the cause of my pain.

"Wha-what made you stop? Why did-didn't you kill me? If you-you are a monster, then kill me." Because of the pain and weakness, my lips trembled and I stammered. My legs turned to jelly, making it impossible for me to even stand up straight. I was keeping my eyes open with great difficulty. I was on the verge of collapsing.

He caught me in his strong and cold arms before I could fall and saved me. I forced myself to open my eyes and met his gaze with a faint smile.

I was certain that he was my protector and not a monster.

"Jon…athan..." I tried to speak, but I was unable to. My mind was spinning, everything around me was becoming hazy, and my neck was becoming numb from the pain.

As he scooped me into his arms, I automatically wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my head on his chest. Even though I was in excruciating pain, I had a beatific smile on my face because being in his arms had given me tremendous tranquillity.

He was taking me downstairs, and I was completely absorbed in his warm arms. His touch was pure paradise for me, and I felt incredible in his arms. I always had a feeling that I wanted nothing more than the warmth of his embrace, because that was where I belonged.

‘Thank god, he bit me.’ Like an idiot, I expressed my gratitude to God because I wouldn't be in his arms if he hadn't bitten me.

I became completely insane after falling in love with the vampire. He was the only one who had caused me to experience such severe pain, and I was grateful for it. I just couldn't understand why I was in such deep love with him.

I always wondered, 'What kind of connection is this? Never in my life, I have experienced such a profound connection. It is really powerful, and despite how much he wounds me, my love for him will not waver.’

He took me directly to the guest room because he knew mum was sleeping in my room. He knew everything about me because he always kept his eyes on me.

He gently laid me down on the bed, and I tried to open my eyes again, but it was difficult because the neck pain was unbearable, and I was feeling weak from blood loss.

As he bit his wrist, my brow furrowed in perplexity. He leaned down and placed his bleeding wrist near my mouth, and I just stared at him, bewildered.

"Drink it. It will make you feel better." I immediately began guzzling his blood by grabbing his hands as he spoke in his deep voice. This was the first time I ever tasted his blood, it felt icy.

As I sucked the blood, I could feel the neck pain subsiding and my strength returning. It was strange to drink someone’s blood for me, but I did it to feel better.

After I felt better, I let go of his hand and let out a sigh of relief. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He was still staring at me with guilt in his eyes, as if apologising through his eyes.

"Jonathan, how long will you keep the truth hidden and cause me and yourself pain? Please, Jonathan, speak up.” I begged and slowly lifted my hand to take his hand in mine, looking at him with my beseeching eyes.

As I held his hand, a small smile touched my lips, and I breathed a sigh of solace because he didn't jerk my hand. He just swept his gaze down at our hands before darting them back to my face. There was no anger in his eyes, only guilt and pain.

He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. "Mia, I'm a danger to you. Because I am a vampire, you are not safe with me." He opened his eyes and finally spoke something. My eyes twinkled with delight, and I was the happiest soul on the earth because he finally broke his silence. I knew it wasn't the whole truth, but I was glad at least he said something.

"Jonathan, I'm not even safe without you, and you must understand this. I've already stated that I don't mind if you're a vampire. I still love you, and I know that this isn't the true cause of your monster behaviour." Listening to my words, he just stared at me with so many emotions in his eyes that I couldn't put them into words.

As I placed my hand on his face, he closed his eyes in response, possibly to feel my touch. His lips parted as he breathed, and I felt a sudden desire to feel his luscious lips against mine once more.

As he took my hand in his, I stared at her in amazement. “Mia, I know you love me, but you have to understand that if we get together, my enemies will not leave you. They will kill you, and I do not want this, please understand." He tried to explain things to me in a soft and pleasant voice, gently caressing my hand with his thumb and looking at me with deep concern in his eyes.

I was relieved to see him so composed for the first time because it meant that he had finally taken off the monster mask from his face and was showing me who he really was.

It didn't matter to me who his enemies were; all I wanted was him, and I didn't care about any danger, because I was madly in love with him, and I would make him understand at any cost.

"Jonathan, do you love me?" All of a sudden, as I asked this question, his brows raised in shock.

Before this conversation, I just wanted to hear those three magical words from his mouth because my ears were dying to hear them, and also because after his love confession, it would be much easier for me to explain things to him in a better way.
