Chapter 29 Becoming Powerful
Chapter 29 Becoming Powerful
I shoved Katrina, and she landed far away from me, hitting a tree. My eyes widened in amazement, and I stared at my hands, baffled.
"What just happened?" I murmured, staring at Katrina, astonished and perplexed.
She stood up and vanished in a jiffy. I also noticed that the wound on my neck had healed as if no one had bitten me. What was happening to me shook me to my core.
"Have I turned into a vampire?" Incredulously, I questioned myself.
"If I turned into a vampire, that would be good because I can live with Jonathan and he can't hurt me. I should contact James." I was intrigued and right away texted James.
Me: Meet me at my place.
I was relieved, assuming that I had turned into a vampire, but I wasn't sure because I wasn't feeling any thirst for human blood and also didn't notice any changes within myself; I was bewildered.
I drove back to my home at about four in the morning. I was experiencing an inner sense of joy, vigour, and energy. When I entered the room, I saw James seated on the couch. He was twiddling his thumbs, with his elbows on his lap and his gaze locked on the floor.
"Hey..." I greeted him as I strolled up to him. He stood up and approached me with a swift motion as soon as he raised his head and glanced at me.
"Thank God, Mia, you're okay. You know, Jonathan informed me that Katrina was pursuing you. He asked me to save you from her, but while I was looking for you, I received your text, and I rushed over to your house. Are you all right?" He inquired, resting his hand on my shoulder, and I could see the concern in his eyes for me.
"I am fine, don't worry." I gave him a faint smile and blinked my eyes in assurance.
"I have a question for you, James." As he nodded, I told him, "Today Katrina bit me brutally here," pointing to my neck. “I felt as though I was going to pass away, but I shoved her, causing her to fall far from me. I was taken aback and perplexed. You know even all of my injuries healed up almost immediately." As I told him everything, he looked at me, as clueless as I was.
"Have I become a vampire?" Curiosity was etched on every line of my face as I inquired.
He shook his head. "No, Mia, you are still a human. I can smell your blood." My brows arched in shock, listening to his words.
"Then what is going on with me, James? How did I suddenly become so powerful that I pushed a vampire?" I immediately questioned him.
"I am also shocked. Could you show me how you pushed her?"
"Okay." I nodded, and as I pushed him, he collided with the wall and was injured.
I rushed to him and apologised, "I am so sorry, James."
He stood up and his wounds instantly healed. "It's okay. I’m fine." His lips curled into a smile and his eyes glittered in astonishment as he blinked at me.
"You're stronger than vampires. It's incredible." He was taken aback.
I was staring at him, stumped and wondering what was wrong with me.
"James, how is Jonathan?" As I asked him anxiously, his smile faded into a frown.
"His condition is getting worse, but don't worry, everything will be alright soon, and one positive thing is that we now know that Katrina used black magic on Jonathan with the help of her witch, so now we just need to find a witch that can break the magic spell cast by Katrina's witch." As he made me look at the brighter side, I felt relieved.
"Who is Katrina, James? Why is she doing this with Jonathan?" As I questioned, my brows furrowed in confusion.
"It's a big story, Mia. I can only say at this point that she is my sister and that I would give anything to be able to murder her. She is doing this because she can't see any girl with Jonathan. She is obsessed with him."
I was taken aback when I discovered Katrina was James's sister. They were both siblings, yet their personalities were worlds apart.
"I know you're shocked to know that she is my sister, but she is indeed my sister. She is a fucking bitch. She is crazy for Jonathan. He has been enduring so much pain for a hundred years because of her."
As James told me about Katrina's obsession with Jonathan, I thought. ‘It now makes sense why Jonathan was pushing me away from him at first; he wanted to protect me from Katrina.'
"Mia, don't worry, we will soon find a witch and everything will be fine." He reassured me, clasping my hand.
"James, thank you." When I abruptly thanked him, he wrinkled his brows in confusion. "I appreciate your help, which I truly need the most at this time. You’re a true friend of Jonathan."
Because of all that he was doing for Jonathan and me, I was pleased that I had met someone like him.
"No, Mia, you are incorrect” As he shook his head, I stared at him bemusedly. "Am I only Jonathan's friend? Aren't we friends now?" He inquired, and his eyebrows raised at me.
"Of course, we are friends, James." A smile flashed on my face as I embraced him.
"I will do my best to look after my friends." He reassured me by hugging me back.
After he went, I flopped down on my bed and dozed off, ruminating about everything while staring at the ceiling.

I awoke after a few hours because I was thirsty. I sat up and poured a glass of water from the jar which was kept on the side table. When the glass I was holding abruptly cracked and broke down, my eyes popped out in shock.
Then I swiftly gulped the water down my throat directly the jar and put it back before it also broke down.
"Why am I becoming so powerful all of a sudden?" I murmured to myself and shrugged my shoulders.
I stepped into the bathroom to get fresh. As I turned on the tap, it also broke down.
"Aaaa..." In frustration, I shrieked and stamped my foot on the floor. When the floor began to crack, I gasped.
“Fuck! What is happening to me?” I muttered, baffled.
I was gaining strength and feeling more energised with every second that went by.
I was sitting on the bed, lost in thought. "My life has been so unfair from the beginning. When I was born, I lost my father and never felt the affection of my parents. Now I'm also in misery. Will I ever have relaxing days?"
My gaze was locked on the table when I noticed a pen on the table in front of me move up in the air automatically, and as I closed my eyes, it promptly fell.
"Now what was that?" I questioned myself, clueless.
I got out of bed and walked over to the table. I carefully examined the pen and saw nothing unusual about it; it was just a regular pen.
I then turned my attention to my phone, which was placed on the bed, to make sure it was my power that had lifted the pen into the air.
Within thirty seconds, only the phone began lifting in the air from the bed like the pen. As I moved my eyeballs up, the phone also moved up, and then I moved my eyeballs to the other side and the phone also went in that direction.
I was amazed by what I was doing. It was unbelievable and mind-blowing. I also had the power to move things from one place to another through my eyes without using my hands, but the serious question was why and how I was becoming so powerful.

I returned to my room after having breakfast with Mom.
Nora had contacted me an hour before to let me know she was on her way to meet me. After so many days, I was finally going to meet her. In all of my issues, I always forgot about my friends, who always supported me and remained by my side when I was at my lowest.
As the strong odour of Kerosene Oil reached my nostrils, I stared out the window and my pupils dilated in dread as I observed Mom throw Kerosene from the container into my room through the window. As she lit the matchstick, I gasped.
"Mom, no," I screamed in terror and dashed to her, but she didn't even look at me. She threw the blazing match stick into my room, and with the blink of my eyes, the entire room caught fire, and I began coughing.
