Chapter 30 The Witch
Chapter 30 The Witch
In the blink of my eyes, the entire room caught fire. My breath got laboured and I was extremely afraid. There was no escape. I began to cough violently.
"My time has come to die." I wondered, staring at the fire with horror, and then, in the next instant, the fire vanished completely. For me, it seemed as though some sort of magic had taken place right before my eyes. I was perplexed.
Then only Nora entered the room, and my stunned gaze was drawn to her.
"You must be wondering how this fire vanished." I nodded at her as she walked closer to me and questioned, my brows furrowed in perplexity. I couldn't understand why she didn't appear shocked.
"The time has finally come for me to tell you the truth." Nora signed and spoke in a solemn tone.
‘Now, which truth is she referring to? God! I can’t take it more.’
"What truth, Nora? I am not getting it." I asked and eagerly awaited her response.
My life had turned into a thrilling movie.
"I am a witch with special abilities, Mia." My eyes twinkled with joy as she revealed her identity to me, and a smile spread across my face.
I wasn't shocked; rather, I was relieved to learn the truth about Nora, since we needed a witch who could break the spell of Katrina's evil witch.
Her brows furrowed in bemusement when she noticed my look. "Why are you smiling, Mia? Aren't you shocked?" She inquired, perplexed.
‘Now it is my time to confess the truth.’
I took a deep breath and spoke, "Nora, I also want to tell you the truth about Jonathan," Before I could say something more, Nora cut my words.
"I've known he's a vampire since the first time I saw him. Mia, I'm a witch, and I can easily tell the difference between vampires and humans." My mouth opened in surprise.
"Nora, you know I'm pleased to learn you're a witch." Her brows pinched in perplexity as I expressed my joy while holding her hand. "But I am angry because you didn't tell me about this earlier; I'm your best friend." I stared at her, disappointed.
‘It hurts when your friend hides the truth from you.’
"However, you always do the same thing, Mia. Every time you conceal your sorrow from me. You don't share your suffering with either Amir or me. I only know how much it hurts me to see you in pain. I feel so helpless when I am unable to help you. Do you think we can’t see your misery?" She chastised me, her eyes filled with anger, and I lowered my gaze to the floor in guilt.
"I'm sorry, Nora, but I was completely depressed and was not in a condition to talk to anyone." I disclosed to her everything, including how I coerced Jonathan into telling me the truth, how a witch cast black magic on him, and how he attempted to kill me. I also expressed my love for Jonathan to her and told her about Katrina's wicked plan.
"Nora, could you help me with breaking the spell? Could you help, Jonathan?" I looked at her with hope in my eyes.
She smiled and nodded at me while placing her hand on my face. "Of course, I'll do anything for you. I will certainly help you. It will be challenging for me, but I will do my best. I just hope you get your love because you deserve it."
She abruptly pulled me into an embrace. "Happy birthday, to my lovely best friend." She wished me with glee, and I realised it was my birthday, which I had entirely forgotten about.
I passed her a small smile as we pulled apart. "Thank you so much, Nora; you are a true best friend. Please, Nora, make things fine because everything is now in your hands. I seriously want Jonathan back because I miss him."
"Don't worry, Mia, I'll make everything fine." She reassured me, blinking her eyes at me.
"I'm grateful to have a friend like you." I faintly smiled at her.
"I'm always there for you."
After that, we exited the room. Mom stepped into the house, perplexed. I was sure that Katrina must have hypnotized my mother and set my room on fire by throwing kerosene.
"Are you alright, Mom?" I inquired her, concerned.
"I don't know what I was doing outside the house." She shifted her confused gaze from me to Nora and asked, "When did you come?"
"Auntie, I just came here a few minutes ago."
"You both settled down in the hall. I'm bringing breakfast."
Mom turned to go but stopped, listening to my words.
"Mom, we're going to college, we'll eat there, and you please stay at home and keep all the doors and windows closed,” I instructed her, anxious for her safety.
We drove to Jonathan's home. I called James and told him about Nora, as well as asked him to meet me at Jonathan's place.
We waited outside the house for James to arrive.
'Please, God, make things fine today; I can't endure this separation any longer, and I can't bear seeing Jonathan in this state.' I was constantly praying to God.
James arrived and climbed out of the car. As he strolled toward us, we passed him a small smile.
"James, here is Nora, my friend, and Nora, he's Jonathan's friend and my new pal, James." I introduced them.
"We are so glad, Nora, that you are helping Jonathan in this because you are putting your life in danger by making your new enemy, Katrina." He expressed gratitude to her.
"I'm always willing to support my pals, so I can gladly take any risk for her.” As Nora glanced at me, we exchanged smiles.
I gave her a tight hug because her words had rendered me speechless. I was fortunate to have Nora and Amir in my life as they were my true friends.
