Chapter 48 Will you marry me?
Chapter 48 Will you marry me?
I awoke the next morning, my body still entwined with Jonathan’s. I felt a sense of peace and relief because Katrina was gone, her terror was finally extinguished.
The morning sunlight gently filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow in the room as I watched Jonathan slowly stir awake. His eyes fluttered open, and he blinked a few times, adjusting to the light. He looked at me with a sleepy smile.
“Good morning, my love.” He greeted, his voice laced with affection.
“Good morning, Jonathan.” I replied, returning his smile, and my heart raced with anticipation. I knew I had to tell him the truth, to share the news that would bring both relief and anger. Taking a deep breath, I mustered the courage to speak the words I had been longing to say.
“I have something important to tell you.” I began, my voice is slightly shaky.
Jonathan’s brows furrowed, concern etching his features. “What is it, Mia? You look serious.”
I took a moment to compose myself before continuing. “Last night, I confronted Katrina. I... I killed her.”
His eyes widened in shock, his sleepy demeanour instantly replaced by alertness. “You... you killed her? Are you sure?”
I nodded, my gaze locked with his. “Yes, Jonathan. She’s gone. I couldn’t bear to see her threatening our lives, our happiness any longer. I had to put an end to it.”
A mix of emotions flickered across Jonathan’s face. Relief washed over his features, mingled with disbelief.
“I can’t believe it... she’s really gone,” Jonathan murmured, his voice filled with incredulity. “But how did you do this?”
I felt Jonathan’s eyes piercing through me as I recounted the events of the night. His expression shifted from shock to anger, his face contorting with frustration and worry.
“I can’t believe you did that, Mia! How could you put your life in such danger? You could have been killed!” Jonathan spoke with a mix of fury and concern. He sat on the bed, his eyes never leaving my face.
“Jonathan, I had to do it. I couldn’t stand by and let her continue to torment us. I had to protect you, protect our love.” My voice wavered slightly, a mixture of defiance and vulnerability evident in my tone.
Jonathan’s anger seemed to intensify as he struggled to contain his emotions. He clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. “You don’t understand, Mia. I can’t lose you. I can’t bear the thought of living without you.”
Tears welled up in my eyes as I reached out to hold Jonathan’s trembling hands. “I’m sorry, Jonathan. I didn’t want to hurt you or make you worry. But I couldn’t let Katrina’s terror continue. I had to end it, for us.”
Jonathan’s anger disappeared as he looked into my tear-filled eyes. He let out a deep sigh and pulled me into a tight embrace, burying his face in my hair. “I understand you wanted to protect us, Mia. But you have to understand how much you mean to me. Your life is precious, and I can’t bear the thought of losing you.”
I clung to Jonathan, my tears soaking his shirt. “I’m sorry, Jonathan. I didn’t mean to put myself in danger. I just couldn’t bear to see you suffer any longer. I love you so much.”
He held me even tighter, his voice filled with a mix of love and concern. “I love you more than words can express, Mia. And I believe in our strength together. But promise me, promise me you’ll never face danger alone again.”
I nodded against his chest, my voice muffled by my tears. “Jonathan, I promise. I won’t put myself in danger like that again. I can’t see you worried or hurt.”
He kissed the top of my head, his voice filled with a mix of relief and determination. “We’ll face whatever comes our way, Mia, but we’ll face it together. No more risking your life alone. From now on, we fight as a team.”
As we held each other, I could feel Jonathan’s heartbeat against my cheek, a steady rhythm that mirrored the rhythm of our love. We were ready to face whatever the future held, knowing that our love would always guide us through the darkest of times.

In the evening, Jonathan surprised me with a romantic candlelit dinner in the garden of his home. Soft music played in the background, creating an ambience of tranquillity and love.
As we sat at the table adorned with flickering candles and a bouquet of fragrant roses, I admire the effort he had put into making this evening special. The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting a gentle glow on our faces.
“You truly know how to sweep a girl off her feet, Jonathan.” I praised him, a smile playing on my lips.
He reached across the table, his fingers gently brushing against mine. “Only for you, my Angel. You deserve nothing less. You finished my enemy. I still can’t believe that she is out of our life.” He spoke, feeling grateful.
“I have to kill her. Jonathan, I’m born to eliminate evil vampires.” I spoke in a determined tone.
“However, don’t do it alone next time. Take your vampire boyfriend with you.” He planted a soft kiss on my knuckles, bringing a smile to my face.
“Sure, Mr vampire.”
We relished the delicious meal, talked and exchanged loving glances. The atmosphere filled with an air of contentment and happiness.
As dessert arrived, Jonathan presented a small box adorned with a satin ribbon and placed it in front of me. My heart skipped a beat as I untied the ribbon and opened the box, revealing a delicate necklace with a pendant in the shape of a heart.
“Oh, Jonathan, it’s beautiful.” I exclaimed, feeling a surge of emotions welling up inside me.
He took the necklace from the box and held it in his hands. “This necklace represents my love for you, Mia. It symbolizes the depth of my feelings and the commitment I have made to you. Will you accept it?”
Tears of joy glistened in my eyes as I nodded, unable to find the right words to express the overwhelming love I felt for him. He stood up from his chair, stood behind me, and placed the necklace around my neck, the pendant resting against my heart.
“It looks perfect on you.” He whispered, his voice filled with tenderness as he walked beside me.
I rose from the chair and cupped his face. “Jonathan, you have brought so much love and happiness into my life. I am grateful every day that our paths crossed.”
He leaned in, his lips brushing against mine in a gentle kiss. It was a kiss that conveyed a thousand unspoken words, a promise of a future filled with love and unwavering support.
As we pulled away from the kiss, we remained locked in a loving embrace, our foreheads touching, and our eyes gazing deeply into each other’s souls.
He gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, his touch sending tingles down my spine. “Mia, I want to ask you something,” He said, his voice filled with a mixture of nerves and excitement.
“What is it, Jonathan?” I asked him, curiosity sparkling in my eyes.
He took a deep breath, his gaze unwavering. “Mia, you’ve brought so much love and light into my life, and I can’t imagine spending another day without you. Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife? Will you marry me?”
My heart skipped a beat as tears of joy welled up in my eyes. I placed my hand over my mouth, unable to find the words to express the overwhelming emotions that surged within me. With a nod and a smile that radiated happiness, I threw my arms around him, embracing him tightly.
“Yes, Jonathan! Yes, I will marry you.” I whispered, my voice filled with love and excitement.
At that moment, everything felt perfect. The joy and love that enveloped us washed away the worries and hardships of the past. We knew that our journey as a couple had just taken a new and beautiful turn, and we were ready to embrace the future together.
As the moonlight bathed us in its ethereal glow, we danced under the stars, celebrating our love and the promise of a lifetime spent together. The night seemed to hold its breath, witnessing our happiness and marking this moment as a turning point in our lives.
In the days that followed, we began planning our wedding, pouring our hearts into every detail. The love and support from our friends and family were overwhelming, and it only strengthened our bond. Together, we chose a date and set out to create a day that would etch in our memories forever.
On the day of our wedding, friends and family gathered to witness our union. Jonathan stood at the altar, his eyes filled with adoration as I walked down the aisle in a white gown.
