Under seige

Ashlyn's POV

I walked into the palace and the warlord king was sitting on a chair carved in gold but wasn't a throne.

His expression was stern as he conversed with another person who was before him. He looked in his early fifties and yet possessed a sturdiness. I swallowed in nervousness. With this kinda look, how will I convince him? How will such a man believe in my lies? I had the sudden urge to turn around and flee as fast as my legs could carry me.

The instant he set his eyes on me, his hard and stern look changed into an expression of lust, desire, and greed. All the expressions I've seen the men of Royal Mile have on their faces whenever they set their eyes on me.

I had no idea I had such power over men except for Lucifer of course. To him, I was just a disgusting little vampire he uses for fun. He plays with me as a cat and plays with a mouse.

The warlord king immediately dismissed the man before him.

I smiled pleasantly. My guess earlier was wrong. This could turn out to be an easy task.

He stretched forth his hand to hold mine as soon as I got nearer to him.

He placed a kiss on my gloved hand and sighed as he looked up. "I had no such thought that the Lady liberty will be so beautiful. Filled of lusciousness." He said delightfully as his eyes traveled to my chest which was exposing a small amount of flesh. Disgusting old man.

"Oh king, you flatter me with your words. What has a young lady like me got compared to the handsomeness that your face entails." I said to him, my eyes reflecting my smile.

He was pleased with my words. "Come sit beside me and tell me what brings you to Dunbar." He said. Still holding my hand from where he sat, he directed me to the seat beside him.

"Oh king, you're too kind," I said to him sweetly again as I let the fan down. "I've come to form an allegiance with you and pledge my soldiers to you," I said to him.

"Hmm," he said thinking deeply. "Why beautiful?" He asked me.

"The French quarters is having a few enemies. Many have started to rise against the rule. I believe with allegiance with you, France can come out victorious and I shall be pledging my soldiers to you in exchange for your alliance." I lied gullibly and he narrowed his eyes then they suddenly lit up brightly.

"I've even brought to you the finest gifts France bequeath. Pure gold my king." I said to him.

His eyes glittered. "Gold is precious but I believe the finest gift France holds is before me," he said leaning closer and smelling my hair. "An exquisite body molded into perfection." He said smiling at me.

I fanned myself as heat crept inside of me. I was irritated by the nearness of this man but I could do nothing about it. What was keeping Lucifer so long? Why was I not hearing cries that the city was under siege?

"Oh king, you flatter me too much," I said.

"Why don't we retire to my chambers so you can rest from your tiring journey." He said and I faked a smile.

I was perplexed. Just the words chambers scared me. I've had a fair and brutal knowledge of what goes in there and I cannot let this perverted king have his hands on me.

Where the bloody hell is Lucifer? What if I cannot stop this man from taking advantage of me?

"Did I forget to mention to the lord that I brought in gifts? Why don't you check them?" I said to him.

"Gifts can wait my lovely," he said as he signaled to his guards to exit and they did. "But you should not be kept waiting lady liberty." He said and with that buried his head in the fullness of my chest. Curse Lucifer!

Lucifer's POV

Just like Ashlyn had predicted, the truck was led away and I could hear the faint voices of the warlords.

"Let's leave it here, we shall come later to place the gold in the treasury." One said and then I heard movements like they were leaving.

"What if Master does not approve of it? We should load them into the treasury now." Another said and they returned.

Curse that loud-mouthed warlord. Luckily enough, I had the woodcarver cut out a large hole in the middle of the truck. I only had to unroll the cover from its tight lock.

"Should we not jump out of this truck as planned before in our lycan form?" Ripper asked.

"With me stuffed in here, I do not think I can do that." Kill said.

"Move back mates, cramp yourself together than before," I said to them.

"Whatchu doing?" Rage questioned.

"You'll see in a minute," I said to him and pulled myself from the tight circle and they gathered themselves to the far end of the truck compressing the other comrades.

I rolled out the cutout wood and was careful enough not to make a sound as I tossed it to a corner.

They began to rush out in haste stumbling on one another.

"Comrades!" I said in a low menacing tone as I challenged them with my eyes to dare and disobey me.

They should not use their desperate need for light, and freedom from the tight circle to jeopardize our position in here.

They retreated and stopped.

"Did you hear that noise?" The warlord asked his second.

"No, you must be hearing things." The other replied.

"I know I heard something." He said insisting on it.

"Finish up thy work, Finna feast my eyes upon the fair lady of France before she leaves." The other said to him and I felt my blood boil at his statement.

I heard the first one laugh as I slowly crept out of the truck beneath it.

"Aye, thou shouldst not think of the fair one. The pretty dame wouldst be in the arms of Master till the cockcrow." He said and that forced me out as images of Ashlyn lying in the arms of the warlord king, my enemy, filled my head and all I wanted to do was thrust a claymore into him.

I crept to the side of the truck as one by one, my comrades crept out of the truck.

I observed that we were close to the open doors of the treasury and from where I stood, only four men were standing by. Two offloading the gold and the other two by the treasury door.

I pulled out two arrows from my back, and shot the first guard, and then the next before he could blink or think of reacting.

"What's.." I heard the voice of the guard offloading and then heard it no more. I turned to see Ripper who smiled as the guards dropped dead at his feet.

He just snapped life out of them.

We spread out through the treasury and discovered that there was an extra gate that led to it and three warlords were coming in. Before they could make an attack or sound a warning, two arrows got them down by me and Rage slit the throat of another in a swift and watched the blood splutter from his neck with a grin on his face. I smirked. This was why he was Rage.

In cautious steps, we crept out of the treasury, and Stealth and I snapped the necks of the guards in front of it. Stealth crept up on the wall along with Kill and Ripper to take down the guards at the tower and send a signal to the rest of our men surrounding the walls.

Rage and I advanced toward the center of the palace while I gave a command to the rest of the comrades behind us to spread out in position and take down any warlords in sight. The sun had set and was retreating farther into the sky.

Rage took the direction leading to the gate alongside two men. I took the way leading to the entrance of the palace and met two guards standing.

"Luci..." They were about to shout and defend.

Steel revealed himself only through my eyes and hands as my eyes flashed his and my hands sprouted his claws and I thrust my two hands into their chest and pulled out their hearts.

"That's Lord Lucifer to you. Say it with respect." I said and walked into the palace with the hearts in my hands.

I stood a few feet away from the entrance and saw the warlord king nuzzling his head on Ashlyn's chest, his hand caressing her arm.

I boiled in anger as the hearts dropped down in a thud. How dare he place his filthy hands on her?!

The sound attracted them and I could see the surprise on both their faces. I pulled out an arrow and shot, aiming right above his head. I did not plan to kill him yet but watch him beg for mercy before ending his life.

Then I heard the screams, chaos, and cries outside. The war has begun.
